Chapter 176 THE RACE TO SILENCE BRIELLE
Rosa’s POV
I couldn’t hold myself together. I was restless.
“How come?” I muttered in shock.
“But I shot her twice—once in the head and once in the chest.”
“Is my aim that poor that I couldn’t kill someone kneeling right in front of me?”
“God… fuck me!”
I knew my secret was about to be exposed to Jax.
That must not happen.
I had to get to Brielle before Jax did.
Otherwise, Jax would skin me alive.
Trying to meet that stupid servant and strike a deal with him would be impossible now. Jax would have strictly warned him not to share anything with anyone.
Then a thought crossed my mind.
Good.
I sprang to my feet and rushed out of the room. My heels clicked sharply against the floor, drawing the attention of palace workers.
I didn’t care.
I didn’t care about their whispers or gossip.
The real shame was the one approaching—huge enough to destroy me.
I had to stop it.
I refused to even think about what would happen if I failed.
I didn’t run recklessly to attract attention… but I didn’t walk slowly either.
I took the alternative route—one where fewer people would see me.
I moved as fast as my legs could carry me toward Jax’s quarters.
To the back.
To the window that led into his living room.
I tiptoed carefully, pressing myself against the flower pots used to decorate the king’s quarters, my ears glued to the wall.
I looked around if no one was watching, only two young omega dressed in pack army uniform. Saw me leave the scene. I didn't care any longer at this point.
“So where is Brielle?” I heard Jax’s voice clearly. He wasn’t shouting.
“Is… Is Brielle truly alive?”
“Yes, your honor,” the servant replied.
“So where is she?”
He paused, as if some divine force warned him not to speak.
That was all I needed to hear.
No pack member should see me here, eavesdropping.
Speak, idiot! I cursed inwardly.
“In a healer’s house… in Alpha Dominion’s pack.”
My eyes widened.
Good.
“Please say which healer’s house,” I whispered to myself. “There are many in Alpha Dominion…”
“You can go,” Jax ordered. “We will meet tomorrow. Do not leave the palace before then.”
“Fuck you Jax!” I inwardly cursed again, you are really trying recently to be playing smart with me. What would it take you asshole to ask him where the exact healer's house is where Brielle is?”
“Yes, my lord…” the servant replied.
“I may call on you at any time.”
“Okay, my lord…”
“For your loyalty to the throne… I left a gold bar in the queen’s living room. Go and take it.”
“Your honor…” the servant’s voice trembled. “You have changed my life…”
I didn’t wait to hear the rest.
I slipped away from the window
and run as fast as my leg could carry me back to the quarters
For once…
To meet the idiots.
