Rosa's POV.
I watched Brielle fall to the ground in a dull thud, I looked around if someone was watching.
Thankfully no one was watching. They all had disappeared prior to the time Brielle arrived at the river bank with two wolves. It was like they knew that trouble was imminent , they had run for their lives.
Though this river has never been devoid of trouble. From one disaster to the other. Times the gods had struck it and it has changed to blood. Where no one moved closer to it. The fishermen and the boat operators suddenly had tools.
In fact life itself around the river had stopped. Every inhabitant of the stormfang pack knew the river was the one that revolved round our daily lives linking us to other neighborhood packs.
Not until a month or two ago, things had started coming back to normal, the blood had disappeared and the pack had been thrown into jubilation.
I moved from the river bank. I quickened my feet as best I could . I took the route that brought me into the scene from the back of the shed, walked past the tree that I had earlier climbed, then through the path that I walked through while coming out of the palace.
Just a few moments ago, I had just experienced almost eight wolves dying including Brielle. Some one had paid a huge amount of money on her behalf to break her out of that hell hole.
But, painfully at the last minute, she failed the most important test of her life. After I had severally warned her that she would face a lot of distress but never in any way if anyone asked her who she had been working for, she should have never try to mention my name.
If she was under pressure, she may mention another name entirely. But she failed and faltered at the last minute.
One thing I promised Brielle even if she didn't see me, I would never leave her alone in the face of the trouble for her to face it on her own.
I would always be there with her running things behind the stage to get her deserved freedom.
But she failed at the dying minutes of when her test was about to come to an end.
Who knows , how many people would have told while she was in the cell?l that I was the one who sent her on a mission to hide the tape in alpha Jax's room.
Hours had ticked by and I could hear the crowing of the chickens, a sign that it was three AM in the morning.
I had walked back to Gate D. I knocked quietly on it. The few guards left at their post had slept off.
Thankfully one was still awake, he had opened the gate and I walked carefully towards my quarters. Where I need to hide is for an overhead searchlight to hover away and palace workers or generally people should not see me in the outfit I had put on. It would raise a highbrow.
For me to get to my quarter, For no one to see me I had to take alternative routes. The only way is to walk slowly through the backyard of Jax quarters and then link it straight to mine.
I had walked quietly, through the window of Jax, a faint light emanated from his room. I knew he would stay up to attend to pack schedules and meetings he would be having when the day breaks.
I had worked past his window with a few steps.
Then a silent moan erupted through the window.
My ears parked up. I stood still. I squeezed my brow.

Another one erupted louder than the first.
I turned towards the window trying to listen.
I knew it… Jax had someone that had always been satisfying his sexual needs in bed.” I muttered to myself.
The word stuck to my throat like a stubborn fish bone.
That selfish bastard!” I silently cursed.
I tiptoed gradually closer to his window.
The silent moaning became more intensifying.

My eyes bewildered like a ghost just zoomed past my face.

The voice came out harder this time to put a final nail to my doubt.

My breath seized. Leg weakened. The earth shook beneath me like an earthquake was about to take place.
I matched to the main front door that linked to his quarters!
