Chapter 138 Silent Rejection
Chapter 141
Jax’s POV…..
I woke up from my bed. My body, heavy against the bed. The room was quiet. The sheets were warm. For a moment, I didn't want to open my eyes.
Then last night returned back to me in pieces.
I remembered how I sneaked out of my room into the dark. I remembered Lyra's door opening quietly. I remembered how she was shocked to see me at her door steps.
And sneaking into her room to have one of the most unforgettable sexual experiences.
We had spent close to two hours together. Two hours that we didn't rush. Two hours didn't feel forced. My body had moved on its own like it had been waiting for her for so long.
When it was over. I left quietly. I didn't bother to wake her up. I returned back to my room and slept like I have never done in months.
Then unexpected tapping woke me up.
Tap Tap.
My eyes opened.
Another gentle but firm tap followed.
“My lord,” Rosa said softly,
I stiffened.
She stood close to my bed, " wouldn't it be nice for you to go have your bath? your breakfast is on the dining table,”
The word hit me fast. It instantly cleared my head. The sleep vanished instantly.
Then I turned.
You again! Rosa!
She stood there like she owned the room. She wore a short skirt a little above her knees and a pinkish blouse.
Her nails, well manicured. Her make up, perfectly well put together. Perfume permeates the room. B
She stood seductively right in front of me..
This appearance doesn't show that she is here for food. She is here for something else. But not this morning.
Not with you anymore.
Not now that lyra existed in space.
Memories rushed into me like a wind.
Days I would search for you in the palace like a needle lost in the haystack just for me to have you. You were nowhere to be found. You were in another wolf’s arm, lusting away in Alpha Dominion's pack. Not just a mere wolf, but my beta.
Days I would cling to my bedsheet like it was the only thing that mattered to me just for her to show up and perform her role as my queen. But you didn't, Rosa , you just refuse to.
“When do you find it right to cook a meal for me in the palace since you assumed your role as the queen in the palace?”
She blinked. Her lips flattened. She could not say a word.
There has never been a day you wish to go into that kitchen and prepare something. If it is just as simple as hot ginger soup?”
Rosa curled her hand together like a pup that had been caught in her bad deeds.
“You always come up with excuses that you know are not good at cooking? What are the maids meant to do in the palace then? Were they not employed to cook and clean?”
My words felt like a hammer; it was like I was ripping her apart.
“I should tell them to cook anything I wish to eat.”
The thought crawled into me again.
I have never for once even asked lyra if most of the evil Rosa had committed like killing queen Astra, Rosa had always informed her or used her as a tool?
I was only engrossed in fucking her and I didn't even mind if I was walking to the trap both of them had set for me. Maybe it was due to the fact that my body had been denied of sex for a long time.
But the only thing I could sense in all of these is that I always felt calm in arms and relieved like a pup in the hand of his mother with the few times I had spent with lyra.
I turned from the other side of the bed, I squinted my eyes.
“I don't need your food… lyra would prepare me her usual favorite meal…”
Lyra?” Rosa repeated. It was obvious that my reply startled her.
“Yes, lyra… at least she and the other maids were there to prepare my meals… you have never for once thought about that …”
Lyra's weight suddenly shifted.
‘What if I have changed…”
“Don't change… I don't need you to change…” I clapped back.
She felt startled, curling round her fingers. Her shoulder dropped. The light in her eyes dimmed.
Then she hissed and walked disappointingly to the door.
Then I spoke angrily, “…and …how many times do I need to tell you that you should stop walking aimlessly into my room…”
Are you finally pushing me away Jax,” she uttered, " you have been constantly telling me that ....”
T… that I need space?… Don't you read in between the lines…how many times would I repeat myself…”
The issue there is that your defiance would make some omegas to lose their job…and that could take place right now!
I pointed vaguely at the door.
" … Those fools outside there flouted my rules like it was nothing. At the back of mind they think you will protect them.”
“Are we quarreling ?” Rosa asked, her lips trembling, "Is there anything I have done?”
The words felt like a distaste as she spitted it out.
What have you done to me ? You have committed a lot of evil, Rosa. Sometimes I wondered how the moon goddess had not struck you dead.
But I didn't have to tell her that I just prayed Frassie would convince her sister to work with me to sink you and everyone working against my throne.
I hissed and I turned back to the wall to continue my sound sleep. She would be the last wolf I would want to speak with this morning.
I heard her footsteps approaching the door , her hand wrapped around the handle. The door creaked.
“Even if I offended you…”
Then she stopped. I heard her breath break. She finally shut
the door behind her and left the room.
I hissed..
What insolence…
“Jax, you need nothing but patience to strike that chameleon into pieces.” I muttered to myself.
