Chapter 107 The Ghost The Guilty Could See

Chapter 107 The Ghost The Guilty Could See

Chapter 107

Lyra's POV.

Silence descended into the room to the point that I could hear my heartbeat resoundingly.

"What did you just say!" Alpha Francis stood up from his chair.

"I think you need to visit the clinic at Alpha Dominion Pack."

"Mother, I think you should listen to Father." Tatiana reached across the table, her fingers stretching toward her mother's arm.

Lady Sarah's face had turned pale, like milk. Her eyes were wide and glassy.

Alpha Francis stared at his mate. Tatiana bit her lower lip. The food on their plates sat in front of them, forgotten, growing cold.

"Nooo..." Lady Sarah shook her head back and forth, back and forth, like a toy that couldn't stop moving. Then she froze. She blinked hard, as if she had woken up from a bad dream.

"This is not about the clinic." Her voice came out rough and scratchy. "This is real. Nothing is fake here."

Everyone went still. The only sound was the tick-tock of the clock on the wall.

"I caused this." Lady Sarah's words hung in the air like smoke. Looking into everyone's faces across the table. "I did it."

"You did what, Mother?" Tatiana's voice cracked like breaking glass.

The room felt smaller. The air, heavier. Like the walls were pressing in.

Everyone was shocked. Alpha Francis was not left out. He leaned in, his grip at the table tightened up until his knuckles turned white. His voice ragged with anger despite the composure he was trying to put up.

" So you were part of the wolf who hunted that young healer." He turned to Lady Sarah , his gaze hardened. " The healer who gave everything to the pack, without leaving a thing behind?"

He paused a bit, I knew something was wrong. How her justice was hurriedly together.”

Lady Sarah buried her face in her hands. When she spoke, her voice slipped through her fingers, cracked and unsteady.

It wasn't what I wanted,” her voice came out rough, “it was never my plan.”

She dropped her hands. Her eyes were red and wet.

"It was everyone's wish. The elders. Most importantly, Alpha Vexhood." She spat out his name like it tasted bad. "He pushed me into this. Not only me, everyone. I shouldn't have, but..."

Her voice trailed off. A single tear rolled down her left cheek, slow and lonely.

"I was scared that Alpha Vexhood would clamp down on me. Not just me, everyone was scared of what he could do if we opposed him." She looked at her mate. Her lips trembled. "And I can't lose you. I can't you, I can't lose my family."

Alpha Francis stepped back. His face twisted like he'd been hit.

You didn't bother to tell me,"Alpha Francis bellowed , “when all these evil were going on?”

"So I had to do what we all planned." Lady Sarah's voice was barely a whisper now. "Against poor Mila."

I am sorry,” lady Sarah replied, her voice thickening, more years trickling from her eyes.

I watched from where I sat, hidden and silent. My heart pounded in my chest.

"Madam Tracy was the one that gave me the name of the poison … I mean Silencium-9 to go.”

"Madam Tracy?" Alpha Francis roared. That name sound unbelievable. He shot out of his seat again. The chair fell backward with a crash. "Madam Tracy?"

"Yes." Lady Sarah nodded, her chin bobbing up and down. "Madam Tracy. I had to travel to the Amazon Pack to purchase the poison and deliver it to the prison guard who eventually carried out the action."

"The same Madam Tracy who is Mila's stepmother?" Alpha Francis's face turned red. The veins in his neck stood out like ropes. "You mean she was also part of your wicked elders' plot?"

This is unbelievable,” alpha francis replied, so the whole pack ganged up to kill that omega.”

I wanted to add the silencium-10 to everyone's meal. To eliminate everyone. But I retracted putting it back in the pocket of the garment I was wearing.

Not because of anything but due to Alpha Francis' humane attitude and most importantly the young ones who knew nothing about the gravity of the evil of their mother.

"I can't listen to this alone!" Alpha Francis bellowed. His voice filled every corner of the room. He reached for his coat hung on the wall. He spun around to face his mate.

"How much were you given?" His words came out slow and heavy, like stones dropping into deep water. "How much did it take to turn you into a demon? To bring the wrath of the gods against my unborn child?"

"I'm sorry, Francis." Lady Sarah burst into tears. Her shoulders heaved up and down. "I didn't want to be part of this."

"I'm asking you a question!" Alpha Francis's shout made the glasses on the table rattle. "Not an apology!"

The silence that followed was terrible.

Lady Sarah wiped her nose with the back of her hand and paused a bit. She blinked her eyes several times.

"F-Five thousand shekels." The words stumbled out of her mouth. "And some properties in Crimson Pack. Not only for me, but for all the elders who contributed to the plot."

"Mother!" Tatiana grabbed her bowl with both hands. She hurled it across the room. It flew through the air and smashed against the opposite wall. Food splattered everywhere, sliding down in chunky streams.

"Wow!" The word slipped out of Alpha Francis' mouth not in sympathy but in shock.

"It wasn't my fault!" Lady Sarah's voice rose, trying hard to defend her stupidity. "It was Alpha Knox's fault. Not the fault of the other elders either."

She stood up now too. Her chair scraped backward.

"Late King Alpha Knox was a greedy fellow." She wiped her eyes, then her throat. "And Alpha Vexhood brought a better option."

"A better option?" Alpha Francis's voice was quiet now. Dangerously quiet.

"Yes, a better option. And we elders didn't have to follow Alpha Vexhood." She cleared her throat again. The sound was loud in the quiet room. "Especially based on the fear of crossing his path. And the dire consequences that would follow."

Nobody moved. Nobody breathed.

The clock kept ticking. Tick-tock. Tick-tock.

"So how does Alpha Jax get into all of this?" Alpha Francis asked. His words came out slow and careful. "The late King Alpha's son. And Mila, his potential mate. How do they fit?"

Lady Sarah looked at her hands. On the floor. anywhere but her mate's face.

Alpha Francis, who had been so calm before dinner, now paced back and forth like a caged animal. His footsteps were heavy thuds against the wooden floor.

"He convinced us." Lady Sarah's voice was small now. "That it would be better for his son Alpha Ryder to be king of this pack instead of Alpha Jax."

"Alpha Knox?" Alpha Francis stopped pacing. "The same Alpha Knox that you elders ate at the same table with? That Alpha Knox?"

The room fell into deep silence again.

Alpha Francis turned away. He walked toward the door, his shoulders tight with anger. His footsteps echoed in the quiet.

Then he stopped. He didn't turn around.

"So is Mila here?"

"Yes." Lady Sarah pointed a shaking finger toward where I sat.

Slowly. Calmly. My body felt weightless at the same time. Then the moon light which found its way into the room, deviated into my direction.

Like a predator crawling out of the dark. I show myself.

Noo…”

That panic voice came out from all of them at once.

Lady Sarah remains in her seat. She stuck to her chair. She shook a bit. Maybe due to the fact that my presence had been terrorizing her since I stepped into the room.

But the rest, fear engulfed them like an expensive wine, filled to the brim.

Tatiana could not control herself, she sprang up from her chair and to the corner where her father was.

Derek too wasn't left out.

Mother!” The voice erupted from his mouth. Screaming along and sending the pillars of the room almost to its knees.

Alpha Francis spun around, his eyes wide with shock, he flinched from his seat retorting back and holding Tatiana close to himself.

I didn't lift a muscle from where I sat. The pressure was too much to withstand.

Suddenly , they scattered in different directions like pieces of leaves blown away by strong wind.

Chairs toppled. Plates clattered. The soup spilled over the table and the floor.

I just stood there, in the middle of everything. Unmoved. Unshaken.
