Epilogue ~ A year and a half later.

Golden eyes stared up at James from under a head of unruly black hair, chubby hands reaching upwards as the boy ran across the backyard to his father. The Alpha picked up his son, Mason, and tossed him into the air, eliciting a squeal and giggles from the toddler as the child went up and back down into his father's arms again. “Where is your mother?” James asked the pup with a chuckle of his own.
“Mom, mom, mom!” the boy babbled in excitement, grabbing onto James’ shirt.
James and Cassidy had both taken on roles of Alpha in the pack. It had been a struggle between them at first. James was used to being an alpha and dominating everything, controlling his pack without interference. Cassidy was an alpha wolf herself, but she had no experience back then. While the BlackStone Luna would only submit to James in private and vice versa, they were a strong couple and both led the pack equally now.
He took Mason into the house, looking for Cassidy as he went. He didn't have to look far, his mate in the kitchen serving food and drink to one of their scouts who looked a little worse for wear. “Eat. Drink. Then come to us upstairs in the office and tell us everything you can.” Cassidy instructed the man with a gentle smile before she came to James. “Hello, my baby.” She said cheerfully at her son, taking Mason from James and sitting him on her hip before she moved past James to leave the kitchen, her mate following behind.
“What is Jake doing back?” James asked as they went into the main living area.
“He and Sean were captured. They sent Jake back with a warning. Give him time to collect himself, James, it is a long way from TallTree’s southern pack and he hasn't stopped.” Cassidy said softly, reaching out over her bond with the pack to summon the omega they employed as a nanny for Mason. The young girl came running from another part of the house, all smiles. Cassidy handed over her son, giving the pup tickling little kisses all over his face. “You go play with Sadie for a little while…” she told the boy, giving a kind smile to Sadie before the girl bowed her head and took the boy to his toy room.
“So the peace is ending then.” James stated after Mason was gone, reaching for Cassidy’s hand as the two of them headed upstairs to the office. After the Rogue Capitan, Nash had been killed, there had not been a single rogue attack to their pack. A council had been formed between all the alphas of every pack and they had petitioned James Black to be a King of sorts. James had never formally accepted the role, but he still led the other packs and kept the peace between them.
“It seems so.” Cassidy said in a disappointed tone. “We need to recall the Betas back to the house once Jake gives us the information he has.”
“Yes… It is time TallTree comes to heel and submits.” James said with a bit of a bite to his voice. He had enjoyed the peace, enjoyed the time to start his family and watch his pup grow. Now, he felt the need to step up into a role the wolves of the nation wanted him in. A leader. A King. Justice and Peace all in one.
