Chapter 44

Chapter 44

Amelia's POV.

“Please, you don't have to leave because what just happened was just an unfortunate incident,, and we shouldn't let it ruin an important meeting like this. I'm sorry for her actions. She is just my sister, and she can be weird sometimes,s, so please overlook her manne. Let's go on with the fe,ast,” I pleaded, trying to coax them into staying back.

I was not certain about the right words to say or the right thing to say but I secretly hoped they would find my words good enough to dissolve the impending tension that was lurking in the atmosphere.

“She is right; we didn't know this would happen this way; it wasn't planned this way. Let's just forget about this and get along with business; I will sort everything out later,” Damien added.

“You are sure this isn't some complications that needs family attention urgently?” one of the guests asked.

“No, not at all, sir, everything is fine,” I answered quickly, trying to solidify my claims and make them more relaxed since they had obviously been bought by my words.

“Very well then, let's go on” he replied and signaled others to go on with their drinks. He seemed to be the leader amongst them.

Damien heavied a breath of relief when he saw that they finally agreed to stay back. He was initially so worried, and he had lost hope of keeping them because he had thought they would leave; he thought everything had already been ruined.

“Thank you. Make yourself comfortable and enjoy the feast,” Damien declared with a smile, and we all clang our glasses of wine and cheered.

“Thank you for saving the day, I owe you for this.” He whispered, “I will have the maids serve us another meal for the feast.” he smiled at me before walking away, and I nodded with a smile.

He returned shortly, and we continued with the feast as he discussed other things with guests and cracked some jokes that we all laughed at. Just then, some maids arrived with new trays of meals, and the new meals this time around seemed to be far better than the first ones that were served; the entire hall was filled with the aroma of the dishes.

“It is time to dine and unwind,” Damien said with a big smile on his face and took the lead as we all followed him to the table where the maids had just served the assorted dishes.

I also tried to make the guests more comfortable by making up interesting and funny stories that got them cracking up in laughter. The ladies appreciated my intelligence and sense of humor, and the males also showered more praises on me and congratulated Damien for his excellent choice of Luna.

We all ate with lots of excitement, and the guests also shared their own stories and jokes from their own packs. Everything seemed to be more interesting and enjoyable after Freya's drama, more like she had just entertained us with her drama.

I could feel Damien's appreciative gaze on me all through the feast; he was beaming in happiness, and he admired me every single moment during the feast, acting like I was truly his Luna.

I liked the way everything was going, all to my satisfaction and to the success of my plans. Freya was gradually becoming only a shadow to Damien and to the entire pack; even when she tried to salvage her situation, her callous attitude ended up making things worse for her, thereby giving more credit to me and success to my plans.

After enjoying the meals, Damien went forward to discuss business with them, it was also a success as they finally reached a reasonable agreement. We all stepped outside together after the meals and the discussions, chatting casually as the guests proceeded to leave.

“Thank you very much, Alpha Damien, for your hospitable reception; we look forward to having you as a partner in more of our business deals,” the first man who happened to be the leader said as he shook hands with Damien.

“You are welcome; I will be looking forward to that,” Damien replied.

“Take care, Luna,” one of the ladies said as they both set to leave with the men who were already on their way.

“Thank you, see you some other time” I replied with a smile and waved at them.

Damien turned to face me after the guests left; he was beaming in excitement as he stared into my ears, lovingly holding my hands gently in a romantic manner. I knew at that point that the young man had already gone beyond reach in his feelings and was on the verge of not being able to hold back anymore.

“Can I have some moments with you, Maya?” Damien asked with an undeniable pleasure lurking in his eyes.

“Now?” u asked.

“No, not now, when you are done changing, you can come over to my study; I want to have some moments with you,” he answered, staring at me lustfully.

“Very well then, I will be there”. I replied and left.

I could feel his constant gaze on my body as I walked away, and I felt disgusted by his act but kept quiet; I just had to keep to the deal and play my game right.

I stepped into my room, and thoughts of what could be going on in Damien's mind filled my mind; I knew he must be up to something. Just as I was about to change into someone else before going back to meet Damien, thoughts about Kaiden immediately came rushing into my mind.

I suddenly thought about where Kaiden could be and how he is faring anywhere he is. He had left without notice, and I still could not know where he was. I was missing him; I missed his presence; I missed seeing his face. I might be acting up and fussing my mind in my revenge quest, but something in me still felt off without him around. I wanted him around so bad, but there was nothing I could do.

This was the second day since I last saw him, yet seen any trace of him around, not even a word from him. I wanted so badly to search for him, but I didn't know where to even start; he had left without even a word or any information on where he was going, leaving me with no clue on how to start looking for him.

I had to pull my mind from my thoughts about Kaiden and changed into another clothing; I knew that there was nothing I could do about Kaiden since I didn't even know where he was; I just had to focus on what I was doing, and not allow myself to get distracted.

Getting back to Damien's study, I discovered that he was not in his study. I was surprised to find out that he was not in the study he had asked me to come to; perhaps he was busy with something and would still show up. Just then, a maid walked up to me and greeted me.

“The Alpha requested to meet you in his chamber,” the maid said after the greeting.

‘His chamber’ the word resonated in my head as I tried to process what the maid had said.

“Okay, I will be there,” I replied to the maid before she bowed a little in respect and left.

I was a bit hesitant, thinking about why Damien would ask to see me in his study. I had already figured out what he could be up to, but I decided to proceed to his chamber, being fully aware of his intentions.
