Chapter 250 The Getting Ready
Chapter 250 The Getting Ready
The lift opened, and whoever looked at the lift had their mouths open in shock. “Please ask maintenance to look into this. This glass kept shattering on its own,” lied Corvin. He looked at his bodyguards, who had taken the stairs to erase the footage from inside the lift.
Thorin and Corvin walked out of the lift, embarrassed. How were they going to explain to anyone that they both got angry because someone thought about lying to and manipulating Maeve, a girl they had never met, never even seen, only heard about.
“Okay, let’s start with the tests,” said Thorin and ordered Thessia to bring the next wave of the applicants. “Bring her here!”
“I am sorry, but she is with a client. You asked us to bring her here. She is inside the office. But we cannot pull her out of the conference team. Her whole team is inside with the client’s team,” replied Thessia.
“Didn’t I say I want her here today??” roared Thorin.
“And she is here. But I don’t think she can give the test today. If she gets time away from the client, I will bring her here,” replied Thessia, with pride in her voice. She knew Thorin would get angry, but everyone fulfilled his wish. Maeve was inside the office as per order. He had no other option but to listen to Thessia.
“Fine! Fine! What about the party?” asked Thorin.
“She will be there! Don’t worry, I will make the introduction,” smiled Thessia.
Thorin gritted his teeth and walked away from Thessia. She shut the cabin door violently, but the glass door refused to close fast. The mechanism of the slow-closing hinge made his reaction funny.
“Who the hell does she think she is?? Ahhh! I want to barge into the conference room and… ahhh!!” screamed Thorin loudly.
“Calm down! Don’t get worked up. You know what will happen if you lose control: either your alpha power or your telekinetic power will go berserk. Do you want that?” asked Corvin.
“No, no, I don’t!” snapped Thorin and for a minute, kept pacing up and down in his cabin. He took a few deep breaths and calmed himself down. One by one, he again started calling the remaining applicants. The whole day went by, but no one passed the test.
“Moon Goddess! I am dealing with idiots, idiots!! How can they not solve one stupid code??” yelled Thorin and was about to hit the desktop when Corvin grabbed his arm and stopped him.
“Don’t destroy things when you don’t mean to do that. Keep calm! Let’s go home, get dressed, then attend the party. Maybe a drink or two can calm your mind. Poor Vespera has been doing everything in her power to throw a big successful party. Let’s just go and appreciate her hard work, what say?” said Corvin.
Thorin gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, took a few deep breaths and finally opened his eyes. He didn’t want to talk. That would again make him angry. He simply nodded and walked out of the cabin.
He sat in silence inside the car. Vespera was already there with her make-up team and her stylist. She had invited her friends from Kaldreth to attend the party, and they all were getting ready in the house. The whole house was filled with ladies and chatter and laughter.
“Woah! We are outnumbered,” noted Corvin.
“Let’s just go!” sighed Thorin and walked upstairs. They were shocked to know that even Corvin’s room was filled with ladies getting ready. He kept saying sorry to everyone, and after a long battle, came out with his dress and ran to Thorin’s room. Both the men got ready in Thorin’s room and stood before the long mirror after getting dressed up.
“Do we really have to attend this?” asked Thorin.
“What? Getting cold feet! This is not your wedding ceremony. And don’t you want to meet Ms Maeve Arrendale?” teased Corvin.
“Ohh!” sighed Thorin loudly. “I am going to bring hellfire the moment I see her. She must have never felt such fear in her life; I am about to bring the thunder.”
“Ohh my, my! Tonight will be fun,” laughed Corvin. When they opened the door, the girls were still getting ready in their huge, voluminous dresses. The corsets were tied so tight that every girl had a tiny waist. And everyone looked like a beautiful royal princess.
But the moment they all saw Thorin and Corvin, everyone froze. The perfectly tailored black royal suits were making them look like gorgeous gods. Thorin had the black suit embossed in golden silk, and Corvin had a black suit embossed with silver silk. They looked like true brothers.
“You are so lucky, Vespera! Thorin is so handsome. Can I get Corvin, please?” one friend of Vespera teased her. Vespera kept staring at Thorin with pride and lust in her eyes. She knew Thorin belonged to him. And tonight she was going to finally kiss him. She had a plan in motion.
“Do you have everything ready?” asked Vespera.
“Yes, the waiter will hand him a strong sedative and aphrodisiac. You will get your kiss today. Maybe Thorin will lose his virginity too,” her friend giggled.
“Then you have to keep Corvin away. He can read minds. He will warn Thorin immediately,” warned Vespera.
“Don’t worry, everything will go smoothly today. You just enjoy!” laughed her friend.
“How much time will you ladies take?” asked Corvin.
“You go ahead. We will be right behind you. Enjoy, both of you!” shouted Vespera and giggled.
“Okay, as you say!” smiled Thorin and walked out of the house with Corvin. They reached the venue with their bodyguards and were greeted by Isara. She welcomed them with a smile and handed them a matching mask. Thorin and Corvin covered their faces and walked into the party.
Everyone came to them to greet them. Even with their masks on, they stood out. Their aura had a commanding and aristocratic presence. When Thessia came to greet them, they only had one question: where was Maeve Arrendale?
“Um… on her way. She promised she would be here. Don’t worry!” replied Thessia.
“Stop fussing! You are looking nice, and Thorin Blackridge is not going to recognise you. You are in a mask!” Vella snapped at Maeve. But Maeve’s heart was ready to jump out of her chest. She walked inside the party, sweating from every orifice.
