Chapter 210 Chapter 210

Chapter 210 Chapter 210
EMMERY: But we will tell him the same thing. It’s ingrained in all of us to protect our mates and our packs. And that is what we did.” One of the twins said. For whatever reason, I can’t seem to tell them apart today. “Which one are you?” I asked. “Caiden.” He answered. I nodded at him. “I understand, I do. But when the king gives an order, he expects it to be obeyed. We now have to wait for Nate to heal enough to be transported to the king’s dungeon. Before we can start the investigation into who was behind their breeding program. And how far it went.” I stated. “And not to mention the massacre of Pine Hill.” Nash threw in. I nodded at that as well. “Yes, there is that as well.” I said. “Now I am going to put a call into the king. I will give him an outline of what happened yesterday, but if he has questions, I will direct him to the appropriate person to answer them. Is that clear to everybody?” “Yes, sir.” They all answered. I pulled out my phone and dialed the king. “Emmery?” “Yes, my king. May I put you on speaker, sir?” “With Whom?” “Silver Aspen’s Alphas, the twins’ luna, Nash, and myself.” I answered him. “Very well.” So, I hit the speaker button on my phone and put it down on the table. “My king, you are now on speaker.” I say out loud. “Thank you, Emmery.” “Good morning, your majesty.” Nash speaks first. “Good morning to you Nash.” The king answers. “May I please hear who else is in the room.” The king says. One by one, they stated their names to the king. “Now, tell me what happened with the assessment yesterday.” The king says. “Well, your majesty, it is my opinion that under the young alpha, the pack does not pose a threat. He will need to be guided, but I believe him to be a sound leader.” “What evidence was gathered about the breeding?” “The old Alpha and his ranked unit were responsible, along with the massacre of Pine Hill.” I told the king. “I understand that the old Alpha is dead, correct?” “Yes, your majesty. I killed him in the line of duty to my Pack.” Derric answered. “Tell me what happened.” The king said. Derric relayed the events of the Luna ceremony, being disrupted by the invasion of the Black Willow forces. “Was the Alpha the only one?” the king asked. “Yes, your majesty, but we have their Beta and Gamma in our cells.” Derric answered him again. “What? Goddess, what were they thinking?” the king roared. “We have no clue, your majesty; they aren’t talking. The best we can figure is that they may have wanted to take over our Pack, the same as with Pine Hill.” Derric tells him. “They bit off a bit more than they could chew. It seems.” The king replied. That got a chuckle out of the room. “My king, did the other prisoners make it to you?” I asked. “Yes. They arrived late last night.” He replied. “Good. You can expect three more tomorrow.” I say. “Three?” “Yes, your majesty. The Beta and Gamma that Derric has in his dungeon, and the head Delta, from Black Willow.” I said. “And why is the head Delta not with the others?” The king questioned. I looked pointedly at the twins to answer him. “We’re sorry, your majesty, that is on us.” Caiden answered. “Explain.” “When we returned from lunch, lord Emmery asked the Alpha to show us around the Pack. Then when we returned to his office, the old head Delta took our mate at knifepoint.” Caiden continued. “She is ok, she did not panic, and let her training take over. But he still laid his hands on her. And we shredded him for it.” Jayden finished the tail. “He is still breathing?” “Yes, your majesty.” I answered. “He should be able to travel today.” I tell him. “Good. Next time, boys, follow protocol.” The King says. “Yes, your majesty.” They both answer. “But why was she there?” he asked. “I was there because I needed to face those who were trying to take me. Your majesty.” Chiara said. “I needed to know that the threat was over.” She added. “Understood.” The king answered. “I will let you get back to your work. As I need to get back to mine. Nash, Emmery, I expect full reports from the two of you when you return. Please send the prisoners now, though. I will fill in Emrick, Janice and the rest of the council.” “Yes, your majesty.” I said and disconnected the call. “I will say that the two of you got off easy. Just remember not to let it happen again. He may not be so forgiving next time.” I tell the boys. “Yes, sir.” They both answer. “Good. Now it is time to get the prisoners on the road, and we need to return as well.” I say as I stand and extend my hand to Derric, and then the twins and their mate.

DERRIC: “I will have the prisoners brought up. And I will send a few guards along as backup.” I tell Emmery and Nash. “We appreciate the help.” Nash says. I nod and link one of the guards. “Bring the prisoners up and get them loaded for transport to the king.” “Yes, Alpha.” “ I will send Cory, as he was a witness to the Pine Hill massacre. And I will have Brandi hand-pick the other three that will accompany you.” I tell them. They both nod. “Oh, and Derric, don’t be surprised if the king calls on you to testify at their hearing.” Emmery says as he and Nash are leaving my office. “You three as well.” He adds. “I understand.” I answer him. “Yes, sir.” The twins and Chiara answer him in unison. I am surprised to see Simon, Collin, and Link with Cory. With them, when we get down to the front of the Packhouse. “Brandi, you picked Simon and Collin?” I asked through the link. “Yes, Alpha, I think it’s time to test them. I want to know if this Pack can trust them.” She answered me back. “And what happens if this goes south because of them?” “Well, Cory is going in, whatever other capacity he has to contribute to the other issues. And I know I can trust Link. They can report back to us if those two screw up. And if Collin steps out of line, I will let my mate deal with his little brother as he sees fit. And I will beat the shit out of Simon myself.” She tells me. And in a way, she’s right. We need to know if we can really trust them again. I nod to her in understanding. “I trust that you four will handle yourselves appropriately.” I say to them. “These prisoners need to reach the king in one piece.” I tell them. “So don’t let them get to you. And if they should spout off, remember what they say, and tell the king.” I tell them. “Yes, Alpha.” I get back in unison.
