Chapter 289 The End

Chapter 289 The End

YELENA

Tristan brushed his hair back with his hand, looking at the screen of Claire’s iPad with a look of mock seriousness. “My network isn’t going,” he said, trying to act like a defeated customer.

Claire didn’t buy it for a second. She scoffed, her small face hardening with pure business logic. “Just say you can’t afford it!”

Beside me, Tyla shook her head, disappointed in her father, before resting her face against my chest. She clearly thought her father was being very difficult.

Tristan made a face, still playing the role. “It’s because it’s too expensive,” he countered, trying to justify his cheapness. “Ten dollars is a lot for a cup of juice.”

Claire shook her head, looking at him like he was the most ridiculous person she had ever met. She turned her gaze to me, her eyes narrowing slightly. “Mummy, what kind of man did you marry?”

I opened my mouth to defend him, but I ended up closing it just as quickly, biting my lip to keep from laughing.

The look of utter judgment on my daughter’s face was too much.

I reached out and pulled Tristan back by the arm, deciding it was time for us to retreat. She had insulted us enough for one morning.

But Tristan wasn’t ready to back down yet. He liked the game too much. “You can’t say that, young woman,” he insisted, standing his ground. “You don’t know who I am. I can buy everything you’re selling if you’ll just give us a little taste first.”

Claire wasn’t having any of it. She waved her hand at us, literally chasing us away from her shop. “Go away, I’m not opening a charity case here.”

We finally walked away, and I couldn't help but laugh at the “shame” of being kicked out of our own living room by an eight-year-old.

Tyla, sensing the shift in the room, demanded I put her down.

As soon as her feet touched the floor, she wiggled free and sprinted back to Claire, ready to get back to the serious work of business.

Tristan collapsed onto the couch, his laughter booming through the house. I followed him, dropping onto his chest and letting all the tension of the last few years melt away.

“I can’t believe she just treated me like that,” he wheezed, wiping a tear from his eye. “I’m the Alpha of this pack, and I just got kicked out of my own living room by a juice seller.”

My laughter slowed down, settling into a comfortable, warm hum in my chest. “She treated us like total strangers, Tristan. I don't think she cares about pack rank when there’s strawberry juice on the line.”

Tristan reached out, his hand gentle as he pulled my hair back from my face. His touch was always grounding, a reminder of the strength that kept us alive through the hardest winters.

Even now, with the peace we had finally built, I could feel the power vibrating beneath his skin, the wolf always alert, always protective.

“Business is business, family or not,” he said, his voice dropping to a low, affectionate growl. He leaned in, pulling my face toward his until our foreheads rested against each other. He kissed my lips, soft and slow, a promise of everything we had fought to keep.

I closed my eyes, letting the world fade away.

This was it. This was the peace I had prayed for.

“This was all I ever wanted,” I muttered, my voice barely whispering against his skin. “A happy family, a home, and a man who would always be there for us, no matter what.”

Tristan pulled me closer, his arm wrapping around my back to hold me tight against his heart. The steady beat of his heart was the soundtrack of my life now.

“And it has come to pass,” he said, his eyes locking onto mine with a fierce, unwavering love. “Because now, you’ll never be alone again.”

His words settled deep in my heart.

I looked over his shoulder at our girls.

Claire was busy pouring imaginary juice into plastic cups, and Tyla was watching her with total awe.

Then she proceeded to argue with her invisible customers while Tyla stood beside her like a loyal assistant. Their laughter filled every corner of the room.

Three years ago, I had been terrified of losing everything.

Now, I had everything I once prayed for.

A husband who loved me.

Children who filled my days with joy.

A home that felt safe.

A future I no longer feared.

Tristan wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me closer. I rested my head on his shoulder, watching our daughters continue their little business venture.

For a moment, the world felt perfect, and maybe perfection wasn't a life without problems.

Maybe it was simply having the people you loved beside you through it all.

As Claire chased Tyla around the living room and Tristan laughed beside me, I smiled.

This was my happily ever after, and for the first time in my life, I knew it was here to stay.

THE END.
