Chapter 157: Bloodlines of Betrayal
Chapter 157: Bloodlines of Betrayal
Damian’s POV
I could hardly believe my eyes. Zade of all people had actually gone through with something so reckless, so unimaginable, it almost felt so unreal. We even defended him from the onset. Even when Dana tried talking sense into him, he didn’t show the slightest hint of remorse. If anything, he looked proud of himself.
I couldn’t stand his nonsense any longer.
“Zade, just cut off this rubbish you’re vomiting from your mouth,” I snapped, stepping forward. My voice echoed with Authority.
“How do you expect a law that has existed even before your father’s father was born to suddenly change simply because you demand it?”
His eyes darkened at my statement as he pointed at me. “Hey, Damian, nobody invited you or asked for your opinion, so you better watch it.”
“I don’t need an invitation before I speak,” I shot back. “How could you kidnap an entire school, Zade?” My arms folded instinctively, more out of disbelief than anger.
He threw his hands in the air and laughed that loud, mocking and annoying laugh that always do get on my nerves. “That’s to show you how powerful I can be,” he said smugly.
“Powerful, my foot,” I scoffed. “You’ll understand what true consequences mean once you’re expelled from Archlight Academy.” I snapped angrily.
“You can’t do anything, Damian.” He smirked. “You’re all bark and no bite.” Zade said laughing.
“Then watch it happen,” a sharp voice cut in.
Mrs Tricia’s walked towards us, fury radiating from her. “Zade, even your father cannot save you this time,” she said, her eyes full of rage. “You’ve crossed a line no one is allowed to cross. And trust me, you will definitely pay dearly for it.”
“Ma, please...… look upon us with mercy,” Marcus suddenly dropped to his knees. His voice trembled as he held unto Mrs Tricia.
She turned to him, disappointment evidence deep across her face. “Even you, Marcus? My own relative? You allowed Zade drag you into this?”
“I’m sorry, Ma’am. I never thought it would escalate to this stage,” Marcus pleaded, still on his knees.
Watching them, I couldn’t contain the joy, and satisfaction rising inside me. At least this once, justice seemed ready to prevail, no matter whose name was involved.
Zade must have noticed the faint smile spreading across my lips, because he instantly barked, “Damian, what’s funny? Do you know how much I hate you?” His chest heaved as rage poured out. “You act like the favourite son all because you’re an Alpha.”
Everyone quiet, his voice cracked with something jealousy, bitterness, hatred and years of silent resentment.
Then he said it.
“I regret ever sharing the same mother with you. I regret you being my stepbrother. I regret you being an Alpha while I’m a mere Beta.”
A collective gasp swept through the entire room. Everyone was shocked at the weight of the truth he had just exposed.
Silence fell among everyone as their eyes were on us.
I chuckled, not because it was funny, but because of how childish his tantrum sounded. “Yes, everyone, it’s true. Zade is my stepbrother.” I said smiling.
Their eyes widened. It wasn’t common knowledge.
“My mother was already pregnant with me before she was fated to Zade’s father,” I explained calmly. “Unfortunately, Zade and his father hated me from the beginning simply because I happened to be an Alpha, while him and his Dad were betas.”
The old wounds pierced me badly, but I pushed the feeling aside and spoke up.
“I didn’t even grow up with them,” I continued. “The hatred was too much, way too much that I grew up without a mother’s love, without a family, still yet, Zade and his father despised me.”
Zade folded his fist, trembling. I looked him straight in the eyes.
“You regret this and you regret that, Zade. But here’s the bitter truth, you will forever regret it. Because you can never be my equal.”
His face contorted in fury.
“I will remain an Alpha, and you,” I paused deliberately. “You will forever remain what you are, a Beta.” I laughed.
“How dare you.” Zade roared, lunging towards me like a hungry Lion.
Immediately, his boys grabbed him, struggling to restrain him. His eyes flamed red with rage.
“You wouldn’t dare,” I said calmly.
His chest heaved heavily, going up and down. “Damian, you’re never going to be better than me. And that's the truth you are afraid of hearing, but it will still remain the truth.” He fired at me.
“I already am,” I replied simply.
“You can NEVER be better than me.....” Zade screamed, fighting against the grips of the boys holding him.
His voice cracked. The whole room watched him unravel his true colours.
Zade looked small, broken, and exposed.
Every actions have consequences, and Zade had finally run out of places to hide.
There was no longer a hiding spot for him.
Thankfully my boys were already here, and Mrs. Tricia already made some few calls across the Authorities and they were already in the warehouse.
The Authority carried the boys one after the other as they dragged them away, I still couldn't see any sign of remorse from Zade's face. His face was still hardened. But Marcus felt so remorseful, he kept begging as they were being dragged away...
Suddenly, I felt a hand across my shoulder...
I turned to see Dana, holding my shoulders and smiling.
"Damian are you okay?". She said beaming with smiles...
I nodded, using my hand to clean unimaginary sweat from my forehead..
"You never mentioned Zade was your brother?". Dana said to Mr still maintaining her hands on my shoulder.
"Well, I never felt it was necessary". I said simply.
"You never thought it was necessary?". Dana shot me that surprised look.
"Of course". I said smiling... "Beside", I continued, some secret are better off, as secrets". I said bluntly.
"That's true my guy". Alex said playfully shaking my head.
"But you boys know that there's actually a limit to all this unveiling of your secrets?". Dana said to us...
How?? We asked in unison.
"First, it was Alex and Kyle being Twins, now Zade and Damian, step brothers, hope no further unveiling of secrets?"
"No more unveiling of secrets." I said laughing.
"Better be then". Dana said smiling.
