CHAPTER 29
"Where the fuck are they?" Max asked coldly to his warriors, especially Giovanni and Zerxes.
He was pissed.
He was mad that his mate and her bodyguard were kidnapped by stupid rogues. As he predicted, she was fucking manipulated by those assholes.
"Alpha, we have leads," Zerxes said with his head down in shame.
"Then where are they? I was supposed to visit my other packs and then come back for your Luna ceremony! Now that she's been kidnapped, I don't fucking know if she's safe or not!" his wolf boomed in anger. He had taken control of Max's body and was more pissed than his human.
"Found some clues, Alpha. We think that the Luna and Keaton might be in the mountains," an elder said as he charged into the office. Normally, Max would punish him for doing that, but he shook it off since he had heard him saying that he had found clues to find his mate.
"Show me," he ordered, and the elder nodded frantically. He walked in front of his office table and put down the script he had printed.
"We saw them right at the edge of the border. We felt magic coming through the lake and diagnosed it with the help of wizards and dragons. They flew in the sky to follow the trail that the rogues left, and the magic seems to be in the mountain."
"The witch that Becky was talking about is she there?" The elder nodded. He looked at his Alpha, who was thinking.
"Send the warriors and call the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack for more warriors since their third-in-command is also with my mate," Max commanded to Zerxes, who nodded and ran out of his office, followed by his warriors. Giovanni sighed loudly and walked toward the window to rest.
"Do you think we can find them?" He was concerned about Jayla. She was like her sister.
"Of course, I will find my mate," Max growled and pulled out a cigarette to calm his restless wolf.
"How could she trust them so easily?" Cole asked with confusion.
"Because she's their queen," he replied with disgust. He didn't like her being the queen of the filthy rogues. She was his queen.
"Wait! I'm missing something here," Giovanni said.
"Well, little brother, we think that my mate is a royal descendant werewolf," he said. "Finn's niece."
"Finn? Victoria's mate?" Giovanni yelled.
"Yes, them," Max said sarcastically.
Victoria was Blaze's ex. After the war that the Blood Moon Pack won, Blaze killed Finn and Victoria since they were the biggest enemy.
"But how?" Giovanni said.
"I think that some stupid bitch cast a spell that made her hide her true wolf," Max growled. He was furious that his mate didn't know the truth. After all this time, she was a werewolf. He didn't mind having a human mate but what pissed him off was her being left out. She was kicked out of their world.
"That's horrible." Giovanni gasped.
"That's why I'm going to kill this bitch," he snarled and put out his cigarette on the ground. He screamed and threw his book at the wall in front of him, leaving a dent.
"Fucking bitch," he grumbled and walked out of his office.
"Follow him," Giovanni whispered to Cole, who rolled his eyes.
Cole was fully aware that he was mad and nobody should bother him, but his Luna was missing. Even though he didn't like her, his wolf respected her. He walked into the room where Max liked to isolate himself from everyone else when he was sad.
He watched him sitting at the piano, his fingers moving fluidly across the ivory keys. He seemed to be in a trance, eyes closed. If Cole looked closer, he would see the faintest tears on his cheek. His Alpha cried. He always used to play a sad song when he was crying to hide the sound of his tears.
Cole was his guardian. He knew him like he was his little brother. He was petty, arrogant, and funny, but he hid his emotions from his loved ones. The news of his mate missing shocked him more than anything.
He cared for her, and he understood the bond mate.
It was then the music stopped. Max turned his head with narrowed eyes.
"What are you doing here?" he asked sharply.
"We will find your mate."
"When?"
"Soon, Max, soon," Cole said, putting his hand on his shoulder and rubbing it softly to comfort him.
***
"Why are you doing this?"
"Jay, no one is going to hear you." Keaton sighed exasperatedly.
"Fucking assholes, how the fuck are they not listening to me?" She huffed and sat beside him.
They were stuck.
She shouldn't have trusted those lying bastards. She shouldn't have trusted her intuition.
"We should maybe use your strength to break the—"
"It's made out of silver."
She groaned and bit her nails out of anxiety. Keaton chuckled and brought her hands to the ground.
"It's bad to bite your nails."
"I can't help it," she sighed softly. She felt claustrophobic. They were in a cold, black cell with only one window.
"Sure, you can. You have a strong mind."
"That's not true. I was stupid enough to trust those lying asshole that betrayed us." She rolled her eyes and banged her head against the wall.
"No, you're not. I'm sure you had your reason. Besides, Max will come and save us." He smiled, giving her a little squeeze as they held hands for comfort.
She remembered waking up with a headache and the sensation of cold in her feet. She sat up and saw Keaton sleeping peacefully on the ground. He was pretty knocked up.
"Are you okay?" she asked, referring to his bruises.
"I'm used to it. I'm the third-in-command of the Blood Moon Pack," he said smugly, making her roll her eyes.
"How is life in your pack?" she asked him. He used to stay and hang out with everyone in her pack, but now that Mathis had left the country to find his mate, he struggled with pack work and protecting his lady.
"It's cool. I quit my job just to focus on you and the pack work," he said.
"Don't you get tired of babysitting me?"
"Nah, you are pretty fun. The one who would get tired is Jack, who has to protect Aileen." He chuckled.
"How is she?" she asked after a moment of silence.
"She's pretty good. She's also searching for her mate—well, more like forced since her dad ordered her. Jack wanted to cry when he heard that he was going to accompany her." He laughed.
"Where are they now?" She smiled and looked at the grey wall with no feelings.
"They are maybe in England or Australia. I forgot, but I'm pretty sure that they are in an English country," he declared, and she nodded.
Suddenly, they heard the sound of scraping metal and silver. Keaton quickly stood up in front of Jayla, who glared at the oncoming footsteps.
"My queen." The man bowed down on his knees.
"Don't you dare call me your queen!" she snapped, and the man jumped in fear. Keaton let out a chuckle.
"Mac, just go." Another stepped up. The previous man nodded and ran toward the exit.
"My queen, my name is Foreigner. Nice to meet you." The man with a scar on his face bowed down with an ugly smile.
"What do you want from us?" She cried out.
"I want you to be in your rightful place," Foreigner hissed, holding the bars. He hissed in pain but didn't care. His heartbreak was his queen not taking her place. They finally found the queen that was supposed to lead their pack, and he wouldn't back down.
"She's not going to take anything," Keaton growled.
"What is this nonsense?" Piper yelled, coming into the cell. Jayla glared at him as well Eglantine, who was stern.
"Piper, Eglantine," Foreigner said.
"Little bastard is scared of them." Keaton snorted, and he glared at him.
"Ass wipe," he snarled and tried to lunge at him, but Jayla stopped him.
She was pissed. White smoke was around her body with silver lightning.
She closed her eyes and reopened them, showing white eyes.
"What the fuck?" Keaton gasped as he saw her breaking the silver bars. She hissed painfully, hiding her eyes behind Keaton, who hugged her tightly.
"That is certainly our queen," Foreigner said in admiration.
"What is going with her?" Keaton glared at Eglantine and Piper, who were flabbergasted.
"Call Monica. Right now," Piper ordered Foreigner, who nodded immediately and ran toward the exit.
"Bring her to the hospital," Eglantine commanded, coming close to them, but Keaton growled threateningly.
"Don't come close to my queen," his wolf spat.
"She's our Queen too," he added with a fierce glare.
"Fuck off. She will probably refuse her crown and take her crown in our world." Keaton made sure to put the intensity on the last word. He was going to make them know their place here.
"Shut up," said a quiet voice against Keaton's chest. She rubbed her forehead, slowly glaring at Eglantine with her white eyes.
"Princess—"
"Don't," she replied, and she breathed.
"Take us into a better room," she ordered in her Alpha voice. Eglantine widened his eyes and bowed, showing the way.
"Come on, K," she said with a smile. Keaton nodded with a shocked face.
They got out of the underground, and they could see the natural light again. People stopped what they were doing and stared at Jayla, who squirmed nervously. She moved close to Keaton, who put a protective arm around her shoulders, glaring at those filthy rogues.
"Your majesty, I'm so happy to meet you." A child came forward, hugging Jayla's leg. She softened her eyes and went to rub the child's cheek, but Keaton stopped her from doing so.
"Let me go." She rolled her eyes and swatted his hand out of her way. Then, she crouched down and ruffled the child's hair.
"Me too. I'm happy to see you." She gave him a gentle smile. Eglantine wanted to cry when he saw his Queen being kind to his little brother. He quickly wiped his tears from his cheek and walked toward his brother.
"Haven, you need to go," Eglantine croaked out, pushing his little brother softly out of his way.
"Oh yes, I'm sorry to bother, your majesty." The child bowed and ran toward his friends.
"He's your brother. Am I right?" she asked after they started walking.
"Yes, he's my little brother," he replied without turning back.
They followed Eglantine toward the packhouse. The packhouse was medium in size, unlike the Dark Knights packhouse, which was much larger. The packhouse would be probably the same size as their front yard.
They walked upstairs, and Eglantine let them go inside of a room.
"Have fun." He bowed and left them alone.
"Do you think we will stay there for a long time?" Jayla asked after he closed the door. She moved close to the bed and sat on it.
"Nope, Max will find us. I'm sure of it," Keaton said with determination.
"I wouldn't be that confident, boy," a voice snapped in the room. Keaton growled and pushed Jayla behind his back.
"Show yourself, you filthy witch!" He sneered and looked at the wall in front of him. Suddenly, a woman came out of the room. She was wearing a long brown cape with a wand in her hand.
She was beautiful and looked around 20 years old.
"Hello, my mate." She smirked proudly and waved at him seductively.
"You must be Monica."
"I am, honey, and I did this to Jayla." She winked at Jayla, who frowned.
"What are you talking about?" Jayla asked curiously.
"Babe, you are a werewolf," she sighed dramatically.
