HUNTER'S POV
“Son, choosing a Luna is the least of the problems you will face tonight,” declared Alastair, his eyes revealing a seriousness I rarely saw.
I looked directly at him, curious and apprehensive at the same time. “What do you mean, father?”
Alastair sighed before revealing the nature of the challenge that awaited me. “The Alphas have decided, as a final test, that you will have to face the Brown Bear that attacked the pack a few moons ago.”
My heart skipped a beat. The Brown Bear is the creature that caused turmoil and led to the expulsion of Caleb and other pack members. I couldn't believe that now I was entrusted with this task.
“Caleb and the others were banished because of that bear,” I said to my father, my serious gaze cutting like a blade. “And now you want to punish me by putting me face to face with the Bear?”
“No,” Alastair fixed his gaze intensely on me. “Caleb and the others broke the rules, and that's why they were banished. You and Fierce narrowly escaped the same fate. However, you must prove your loyalty to the pack and show gratitude for the generosity I granted to both of you.”
Feeling a slight discomfort, I felt obligated to thank the Alpha for his generosity. “I am grateful for your generosity, father.”
However, Alastair showed no compassion. Instead, he stated firmly, “Hunter, you will have to prove your gratitude by facing the Brown Bear alone.”
The weight of this responsibility fell on my shoulders. I was to face the Brown Bear, a feared beast that left deep scars on our pack.
I swallowed hard and asked, “How can I prove that, father?”
“Killing the beast will be your test, proof that you are ready to lead the pack and fulfill your responsibilities as the future Alpha King.”
The gravity of the situation began to weigh on me. Killing the Brown Bear meant facing a formidable creature, full of ferocity and wild instinct. It was a challenge that could not be underestimated.
“You're asking me to kill a bear alone?” I asked, seeking confirmation that I understood correctly.
Alastair nodded. “It's your test, Hunter. Prove yourself to the pack and show that you are worthy of leading.”
This revelation stirred a whirlwind of emotions within me. The Brown Bear was a real threat, a formidable beast that challenged any wolf. The responsibility of facing it alone was a brutal test of strength, courage, and loyalty to the pack.
Alastair continued, his eyes expressing confidence. “You are the future leader of this pack, Hunter. Face this challenge and show everyone that you are worthy of this role.”
With the weight of the challenge and the honor of the pack upon me, I prepared to face the Brown Bear. My destiny was intricately linked to the pack, and I was willing to face any challenge to ensure its future and the safety of those I loved.

The night of the coronation enveloped the pack with an atmosphere of anticipation and tension. I stood in front of the den, nervous, with my mind immersed in the responsibilities about to fall on my shoulders. Ulrich appeared in front of me and indicated that it was time to start the ceremony. I thanked him, but anxiety grew within me.
We walked towards the center of the pack, where everyone awaited my arrival. The night was unusual; I was not just about to take over the leadership of the pack, but I would also face the challenging test of confronting the Brown Bear. Uncertainty about my ability to fulfill such a task lingered in my thoughts.
The drums resonated, echoing through the forest, announcing my arrival. The Luna contenders, lined up and elegantly dressed, awaited. However, I couldn't identify Fierce among them. A twinge of concern infiltrated my mind.
I approached each contender, one by one, as they introduced themselves. Until I stopped in front of a young woman with red hair and captivating green eyes. It was Zora, the daughter of the Alpha King Garnet. She exuded a singular poise that impressed me. However, my eyes eagerly searched for Fierce.
Behind Zora, I finally spotted Fierce. She looked stunning in a silver dress, her long black hair gracefully falling over her shoulders.
A mixture of relief and enchantment swept over me upon finding her there, but it was strange that she wasn't among the contenders. Zora formally introduced herself, displaying all the confidence and elegance expected of an heiress.
“Hunter, son of Alastair, I, Zora, daughter of Alpha King Garnet, express my desire to be your mate. We grew up together, faced challenges side by side, and now, before everyone, I want to be your Luna, if the Moon Goddess permits it.”
Her speech was formal, filled with tradition, but my eyes sought Fierce. There was something in the way she observed the scene that conveyed a deep understanding of what was at stake. Then I noticed that Zora's green eyes were waiting for a response.
I replied, choosing my words with courtesy and respect, “Zora, daughter of Alpha King Garnet, I, Hunter, son of Alastair, accept your request. May the Moon Goddess intercede for what is best for our pack.”
After this brief commitment, I turned to Fierce, expecting her to also express her desire to be my Luna. However, to my surprise, she remained behind Zora, not stepping forward to make her declaration. I found her behavior strange, but I nodded discreetly to indicate that I was aware of her presence.
With this first step completed, I proceeded towards the throne, where my father, Alastair, awaited me for the coronation ceremony. Fierce's decision not to present herself as my Luna still intrigued me, but at that moment, the formality of the ceremony demanded my full attention.
The atmosphere was charged with expectations, and the gazes of everyone on me intensified the pressure. Upon reaching the throne, I took a deep breath, preparing for the next developments of the night.
Alastair, with a proud expression, rose from the throne to greet me. This was the moment I had long awaited, the moment when I, Hunter, son of Alastair, would assume my role as his heir and the future Alpha King.
Alastair, my father, and the current Alpha, addressed me in a solemn tone. “The time for your test has come, Hunter.”
My heart pounded in my chest as I faced my father. It was the opportunity to prove my worth to the pack, the neighboring packs, and, above all, to myself. Alastair proceeded to explain the nature of the challenge I would face.
“To prove your worth to the pack and all others, you need to complete your test successfully. Hunt down the Brown Bear that attacked our pack.”
Fierce's eyes, among the spectators, met mine with an expression of apprehension. I knew she was worried about me, but this was a path I needed to tread alone to prove my worth.
“Are you ready, Hunter?” Alastair asked firmly.
I looked around, feeling the eyes of the entire pack on me, and responded by transforming into a dense-furred gray wolf. “Yes, I am ready.”
The howl echoed through the forest, announcing my readiness for the test that would unfold that night. Fierce, in the distance, seemed more anxious, but I couldn't divert my attention from the challenge that lay ahead.
Without further delay, I headed into the forest's darkness, following the trail of the Brown Bear that ravaged the pack. The challenge was set, and the forest, illuminated only by the moonlight, became my hunting ground. Every step, every sniff, was a test of my potential as a leader.
As I advanced through the night, I knew that this journey would not only test my physical strength but also my wit and determination. The pack trusted me to protect them, and I would not disappoint them.
Fierce remained a constant presence in my thoughts, a silent reminder that I was not alone on this journey. The Brown Bear was a threat, but I was a wolf, and I was determined to emerge victorious from this challenge imposed by the Moon Goddess.
