ZORA'S POV
The golden light of the sun filtered through the treetops as I walked through the forest alongside Caleb, my predestined wolf. Our hands were entwined, our steps synchronized, and the joy of being together permeated the air. Despite the significant revelation of his role as the next Alpha King of Rocky Mountain, a serenity radiated from him, and I felt that together, we could face any challenge.
The winding trail led us back to the pack, and my mind was filled with thoughts. The Goddess had woven our destinies in extraordinary ways, and the upcoming coronation ceremony promised to be a crucial moment in our lives. However, even in the face of this exciting prospect, my focus was on my father, the current Alpha King Garnet.
Upon entering the pack, Caleb and I exchanged meaningful glances. The trees seemed to embrace our love as we headed towards Garm, my father's right hand and responsible for the pack's security. His curious gaze lingered on us as we approached.
“Garm,” I called firmly, “I need you to summon my father and Ignis. Take them to the throne room.”
He frowned, analyzing the seriousness in my eyes. “What's going on, Zora?”
Caleb remained by my side, his support evident. “The Goddess has guided us to this moment, Garm. Soon, everyone will understand.”
He nodded, respecting the gravity of my expression. “Alright, Zora, I'll summon Alpha Garnet and Ignis.”
Caleb gently squeezed my hand, curious. “What's happening, Zora?”
A nervous smile played on my lips as I watched Garm walk away. “We have a lot to explain, Caleb, and the time is coming.”
The throne room, hidden in the depths of the forest, was known only to the closest members of the pack. As we waited, my anxiety grew. Finally, the door opened, revealing my father, Garnet, and Ignis, his usual serious expression intact.
“Zora, what's going on?” my father asked, intrigued. “Who is this young man?”
Ignis narrowed his eyes, while Caleb stood firm by my side. “What is it, Zora?” Ignis asked impatiently.
“I entered the forest and found my predestined wolf, Caleb,” I announced, pride and joy mixing in my words. “And not only that, he is the next Alpha King of Rocky Mountain, as the Goddess had foretold.”
The room fell silent, the magnitude of this revelation hanging over us. My father's expression revealed a mix of shock and understanding, while Ignis processed the information.
“It's a blessing from the Goddess,” I added, trying to ease tensions. “She undoubtedly sent him here to show that I am the Luna, the next Luna of our pack and all others.”
Garnet remained silent, processing the information. Finally, he looked at Caleb and said, “Are you Alastair's son?”
Caleb, in turn, released my hand and walked to the center of the room, where he could face the questioning gazes. “My name is Caleb, and I am not Alastair's son.”
Garnet's eyes narrowed disapprovingly. “So, you're an outsider. What are you doing here?”
Caleb maintained his stance. “The Moon Goddess sent me because my predestined she-wolf belongs to this pack, and now I know it's Zora.”
My surprise grew as Caleb's words echoed in the room. He had told me he came from Rocky Mountain, and would be the next Alpha King, but now I faced an unexpected revelation.
“You said you came from Rocky Mountain, and belonged to Alastair's pack. What's happening, Caleb?” My voice carried a mix of surprise and unease.
Caleb sighed, meeting my eyes with sincerity. “Yes, I belonged to Alastair's pack, but I was banished by him. There's no way I could be the next Alpha King even if I wanted to.”
Garnet, now with a stern expression, addressed me. “Zora, is this some kind of joke? If you're trying to manipulate me to take over the pack, it won't be tolerated.”
My heart tightened at my father's disapproving look. “It's not a joke, Dad. He assured me...”
Ignis intervened, addressing Garnet. “Perhaps it's best to rest, Alpha Garnet. I will handle this situation.”
Garnet nodded, leaving the room with a clenched expression. Ignis turned to us, his gaze sharp. “Now, explain yourselves.”
Caleb took responsibility. “I was banished by Alastair because I disobeyed him. He didn't accept my apologies. I am not the next Alpha King; I'm a wolf seeking a new pack...”
I faced Caleb, seeking answers. “Did you lie to me?”
Caleb kept his gaze on the ground for a moment before responding. “I didn't lie, Zora. I told you I came here to find you.”
Ignis looked directly at Caleb. “And why should we trust you?”
Caleb lifted his gaze to meet Ignis's. “Because the Moon Goddess sent me, Ignis. I am not an enemy.”
“Zora, you need to understand the gravity of what's happening. As I feared, the situation you and Caleb face now is exactly what I wanted to avoid,” Ignis began with seriousness, his eyes fixed on mine.
Confusion overwhelmed me. “What do you mean, Ignis? I don't understand.”
Ignis took a deep breath before continuing. “Caleb is indeed your predestined wolf, but he is not the wolf chosen by the Goddess to be the next Alpha King.”
I turned to Caleb, seeking answers in his eyes. “How close are you to Alastair? How did you not know this?”
Caleb sighed. “I'm not close to Alastair; in fact, he hates me. The truth is, I was banished from Rocky Mountain, and we didn't even talk about the next Alpha King.”
Ignis then turned his attention to Caleb, asking the crucial question. “Which of Alastair's sons could be designated as the heir? Is there any indication?”
Caleb sighed, “Hunter is Alastair's son with Brave, a deceased she-wolf. He is the natural heir, and everyone in the pack knows it. We were friends, but now, I really don't know.”
Ignis looked at me, his expression serious. “Zora, the Goddess revealed two wolves. You are destined for Caleb, but Hunter is the predestined wolf to be the Alpha King. These are distinct revelations, and they complicate the situation.”
A wave of shock and disillusionment washed over me. Two wolves, two different destinies. I looked at Caleb, knowing that my choice was painful but necessary. “Caleb, I think you should leave. I need to talk to Ignis alone.”
He nodded, understanding the need for a private conversation, and left the throne room. Once the door closed, I faced Ignis, seeking guidance amid the confusion.
“Ignis, what do I do now? How do I choose between my predestined wolf and the future Alpha King? How do I reconcile what the Goddess revealed?” I asked, seeking guidance amid the confusion.
Ignis, with his serious expression, approached me. “Zora, you don't need to choose. The Goddess has granted you exactly what you wanted.”
I looked at Ignis, perplexed. “What do you mean? What are you saying?”
Ignis calmly explained, “With Caleb, you can have everything you've always wanted: a predestined wolf to start a family with and, at the same time, rule the pack alongside him.”
I stepped back from Ignis, pondering the implications. “But still, Hunter will rule over all the packs, including ours. I would be subservient to his orders.”
Ignis tried to persuade. “Zora, even under Hunter's orders, you can still lead the pack. The happiness you'll have alongside Caleb will outweigh this small price to pay.”
My expression remained stern. “That's not what I want. I don't want to be subservient to another Alpha King. I feel destined to be the Luna of an alpha king, not a companion to a banished wolf.”
