Chapter 253
Chapter 253
Natasha's POV
I stand before the mirror, my fingers gently caressing the moonlight stones adorning my silver wedding gown as I take a deep breath. The woman reflected back is almost unrecognizable—my copper-red hair elegantly pinned up, my makeup graceful yet natural. There's a new composure and confidence in my bearing, a quality I've gained since becoming a mother—a strength that's both gentle and resilient.
"I can't believe this is really happening..." I whisper, my heart pounding in my chest.
Mia stands behind me, adjusting the final crystal hairpin in my updo. She playfully asks, "Nervous? You know, the car's right outside. I could help you make a getaway."
I laugh, my shoulders relaxing slightly. "Don't be silly. Alexander would track me to the ends of the earth." I turn around, my dress flowing like moonlight, making a soft rustling sound.
"That's an Alpha's possessiveness for you," Mia shrugs, her fingers deftly securing the final hairpin.
I gaze out the window at the Morgan estate gardens, decorated like a dreamscape with silver and blue flowers swaying in the gentle breeze. Around the circular altar stand twelve silver pillars engraved with wolf clan runes.
"Sometimes I wake up thinking it was all a dream..." I stroke my now-flat stomach, a habit I haven't broken even after giving birth.
Suddenly the door bursts open and Sophia rushes in, her blue skirt flying: "Mom! You look like a princess from a fairy tale!" Her eyes sparkle with excitement, as blue as her father's.
"Young lady!" Mia calls out to Sophia as she rushes in, immediately kneeling to fix the wedding dress hem that Sophia disturbed.
I crouch down to meet Sophia's gaze, smiling as I adjust her golden hair, feeling a warmth rise in my heart.
Sophia giggles, twirling in a circle. "Is my dress pretty? I want to impress Daddy!" Her little hands nervously smooth her skirt, her eyes shining with anticipation.
"You look beautiful," I say sincerely. "Your father will definitely cry when he sees you."
"Alphas don't cry!" Sophia puts her hands on her hips, mimicking Alexander's serious expression, making a little werewolf rumble deep in her throat that sends Mia and me into fits of laughter.
Elena also enters the room, her silver hair gleaming like moonlight, carrying sleeping Orion in her arms. "Are you ready?" Silver moonlight vines woven around her wrist mark her as the elder of this ceremony.
I look at her with some unease: "Elena, are you sure this is right? How many werewolves oppose this marriage?"
Elena places Orion in Mia's arms and walks toward me, her hands resting on my shoulders. "Listen to me, dear. The Morgan family has existed for centuries, but never has there been a power like yours."
"I used to be just an ordinary human..." I say softly, my fingertips anxiously intertwining.
Elena laughs lightly, shaking her head. "A human carrying the Lunawolf's mission? A mother raising werewolf children? A woman changing the destiny of Selene City? None of these are 'ordinary.'" She takes out a silver chain from her pocket with an ancient wolf fang hanging from it and gently places it around my neck. "Now you're truly part of the pack."
"I—" Just as I begin to speak, the sound of horns comes from outside, announcing the ceremony is about to begin.
Elena takes my hand: "Come, my son can't wait to see his bride."
I take a deep breath, feeling the emotions churning in my chest. A year ago, I was just an ordinary human struggling to survive; today, I'm about to become a member of the Morgan family, Alexander's official mate. The twist of fate is unbelievable.
When we reach the garden entrance, I see Alexander standing by the archway in the distance. Even from this far away, I can sense his nervousness—he keeps adjusting his cuffs.
The music changes, and Sophia appears at the entrance holding a silver flower basket, nervously looking around. Suddenly, she shouts, "Daddy!" The basket falls as she runs toward Alexander.
I watch as Alexander kneels down, arms open to catch his daughter. Even from this distance, I can see the tenderness in his eyes. This sight brings moisture to my eyes.
When we reach the archway, the respected elder begins to recite the ceremony: "Today we witness the union of the Lunawolf and the Alpha, breaking historical barriers and creating a new era..."
Alexander takes my hand: "I once thought power and status were the most important things in life," his voice deep and firm, "until a stubborn human nanny burst into my life, questioning my every decision."
Kind laughter ripples through the guests as my cheeks flush, but my gaze remains steady as I look back at him.
"You taught me that love isn't weakness," Alexander continues, his Adam's apple bobbing, "but the strongest power of all." His thumb gently strokes the back of my hand, his eyes filled with tenderness.
I blink away tears, my voice slightly trembling: "I came to this city just looking for work, but I found a home." I look toward Sophia and Orion in Elena's arms. "I found the belonging I've always been searching for."
"Even if the whole world opposes," I look directly into Alexander's eyes, "I choose to stand by your side, as your mate, as a mother, as part of your family."
The elder steps forward, binding our wrists together with a silver ribbon, symbolizing the "Fate's Knot." "In the name of the moon goddess, I declare your souls connected, your destinies intertwined," he announces loudly, dropping silver liquid infused with Moonlight Herb essence onto our bound wrists.
Alexander can barely wait for the ceremony to end before pulling me into his arms and kissing me deeply. The moment his lips touch mine, I feel a strange warmth spreading from our ribbon-bound wrists throughout my body. The crowd erupts in applause and cheers, with werewolf families around us letting out traditional blessing howls, but in that moment, the world consists of only us two.
At the reception, Jamie approaches me with a champagne glass: "So, how does it feel, Mrs. Morgan?" She raises an eyebrow playfully.
Jamie is a kind and energetic woman whom I've gotten to know well in the few months I've spent with the Moonlight Bridge Project.
Hearing my new title, I can't help but smile: "Honestly? It feels both unreal and completely real." My gaze follows Sophia playing with other children nearby, showing off her partial shifting abilities to some young werewolves.
"You know," Jamie lowers her voice and leans closer, "you're the first human to truly shake the entire werewolf society. Look at those werewolves' expressions." She nods slightly toward the elders in the corner, who are drinking while occasionally glancing our way.
I shake my head with a smile: "I never wanted to change the world, just protect the people I love."
Jamie pats my hand, "That's exactly how you change the world."
Alexander approaches from behind, his arm encircling my waist. I can feel his body temperature higher than normal: "Sorry to interrupt, but may I borrow my wife for a moment?"
Jamie makes an exaggerated bow, exposing her neck in respect to the Alpha: "Of course." She winks as she leaves.
Alexander leads me to a quiet corner, his forehead touching mine. I can feel his rapid breathing: "My wolf is going crazy... he knows you're forever mine now."
My fingers gently caress his cheek: "That's not all, Alexander Morgan." I guide his hand to my stomach. "I think Orion and Sophia will soon have another little playmate."
Alexander freezes, his eyes widening and turning completely to the gold characteristic of werewolves: "Are... are you sure?" His voice is hoarse, and I can feel his fingers trembling slightly against my stomach.
I nod with a smile: "I've been wanting to tell you... thought the wedding day would be the perfect time."
Alexander suddenly lifts me up and spins me around, drawing the attention and applause of the guests, but he doesn't care—his eyes are only for me. In this moment, I feel completely whole. I was once a lonely human nanny, but now I have a family, a place where I truly belong.
The music changes to a gentle waltz, and Alexander takes my hand: "Mrs. Morgan, would you care to dance?"
"I'm not sure about my dancing skills..." I hesitate, looking at the dance floor where several werewolf couples are demonstrating complex traditional dance steps.
Alexander pulls me closer: "Just follow my lead." The corner of his mouth lifts in a confident smile, revealing slightly pointed canines.
We twirl in the center of the dance floor, and Alexander suddenly stops: "Wait, we're missing important dance partners."
Sophia is already standing nearby, watching us eagerly.
Alexander lifts her up: "Come, princess. The pack dance needs you."
Elena approaches with a smile, holding the now-awake Orion: "I think this little one doesn't want to miss out either." Orion's small hand clutches Elena's silver wolf necklace, his eyes glowing with a faint green luminescence in the light.
I take Orion, and Alexander embraces both Orion and me with one arm and Sophia with the other as we sway gently in the moonlight. The werewolf families around us, seeing this sight, emit appreciative low rumbles—the highest form of recognition for a newly formed family.
"Do we look silly?" I ask softly, my forehead resting against Alexander's chin, inhaling his comforting scent.
Alexander shakes his head, his voice deep and firm: "We look happy." He kisses the top of my head. "This is the happiest moment of my life."
Moonlight pours through the glass dome onto us, and Alexander's eyes sparkle with the satisfied golden glow. In Selene City tradition, newlyweds bathed in moonlight receive the best blessing. In this moment, I know that whatever challenges lie ahead, we will face them together.
