Chapter 245
Chapter 245
Natasha's POV
A heavy dragging sound and painful groaning suddenly penetrated the dining room, causing everyone to freeze in place. My heart skipped a beat as I instinctively tightened my grip on Alexander's arm.
Sophia clutched Alexander's other hand, her eyes wide open, her voice barely a whisper: "Daddy, are there monsters outside?"
Alexander struggled to stand straight, his blood-stained shirt still damp against his skin, his face terribly pale. "Stay with Natasha," he commanded softly, his eyes alert, fixed on the kitchen's back door.
Grace quickly pulled Sophia behind her, while the bodyguards tensely pointed toward the direction of the sound. I felt a chill crawl up my spine as Astra stirred restlessly within me.
The kitchen door was suddenly thrust open. I gasped as Victor stumbled in, his suit torn and damaged, yet wearing an eerie smile. Blood flowed from his temple, staining half his face red.
"Good evening, son... and... human nanny," Victor's lips bled as he spoke, his cold gaze scanning the room before finally resting on me.
"This is impossible!" I stepped back in disbelief, my arm instinctively shielding my abdomen. "Alexander clearly..."
Victor laughed, his voice terribly hoarse: "You thought I would die so easily? How... naive..." He stumbled forward, having to grip the doorframe to remain standing.
Alexander pushed me behind him, though he was barely steady himself: "Why are you still alive?" His tone filled with vigilance and disbelief.
"Your... damned Lunawolf," Victor coughed, raising his hand to point at me, "her healing light... indiscriminately... illuminated the entire forest."
I whispered in shock: "I didn't heal him," I clutched Alexander's arm tightly, feeling a wave of fear, "Astra wouldn't do that..."
Victor wiped the blood from his lips, sneering: "But you did, stupid human... you still don't understand... your own power..."
Victor slowly stepped forward, each step accompanied by a pained expression, but the fervor in his eyes remained undiminished: "You don't deserve to have werewolf abilities, let alone possess the immense power of a Lunawolf."
"Stop right there, father," Alexander's voice deepened, baring his teeth threateningly, "don't come any closer."
Victor raised his hands in surrender, but danger flickered in his eyes: "Alexander, my clever child, think about Infinity Corp... think about the future of the Morgan family."
"You can have everything," Victor said enticingly, though his gaze locked onto me, "just... hand her over to me."
Sophia peeked out from behind Grace, her little face full of confusion: "What is Grandpa saying?"
Alexander stood straight, despite his pale complexion: "Get out of my house, or this time I'll make sure you disappear for good."
Victor just laughed. His laughter was deep and harsh, and he coughed slightly as he laughed. I saw a little blood flow from his mouth, which he wiped away. The wound on his arm caused by the shattered Moonlight Blade was still there, though it wasn't bleeding much now, but he still looked very weak.
Besides all this, he no longer had the Moonlight Blade, but I wasn't going to mention that yet. I was curious what he wanted Alexander to hand me over for, given that he had no real way to kill a Lunawolf.
I gently patted Alexander's shoulder, my gaze determined: "Alexander, let me handle this."
"No!" Alexander turned anxiously, nervously grabbing my wrist, "you don't know how dangerous he is."
I pulled my hand away, looking at him and slowly shaking my head. I walked to face Victor. He had nearly killed my mate and my child multiple times, and had put Sophia in danger. Even if I weren't a Lunawolf, I would still be a mother. Victor's actions had sparked my anger countless times.
"Victor, what exactly do you want?" I stared directly at this powerful and evil man, asking without fear.
Victor narrowed his eyes, his lips twisting into a cold smile: "Smart question... my answer has always been the same... I want to protect our world from being destroyed by you."
"I have never threatened your world," I looked straight into his eyes, activating the power within me, "The Lunawolf only brings hope, why are you so afraid?"
I looked down at this once towering werewolf, who now seemed so small.
Victor suddenly burst into wild laughter: "Afraid? I created this order! We are the true werewolves! And you... you're just a lowly, disgusting human!"
"And your mixed-breed bastard," Victor pointed at my abdomen, his lips twisting into a sickening expression, "will be the disgrace of the Morgan family."
Alexander lunged forward, his eyes flashing dangerously gold: "Shut up!" A deep growl emerged from his throat.
"How touching," Victor mockingly applauded, "my powerful son, bewitched by a human."
He suddenly turned to Sophia: "Poor little Sophia, mixing with a human nanny... you'll become weak, just like your father."
Sophia angrily stomped her foot, her little fists clenched: "You're the bad guy!" Her eyes filled with tears, but her voice remained surprisingly firm, "You hurt Daddy and Mommy!"
"Mommy?" Victor's smile froze, his gaze shifting between Sophia and me, "Even if Sophia is just an illegitimate child, her mother was a real werewolf, and you think you're worthy to be her mother!"
I felt an immense absurdity, and laughed coldly: "Even if I was just a human before, I am now a Lunawolf. And you, though you're a werewolf who can kill a Lunawolf countless times, it won't stop change from happening. The Lunawolf is an idea, supported by countless humans. You cannot kill it. The seeds of revolution have already been sown by those humans you used to establish your so-called 'order'."
Victor's face darkened, "What do you know, bitch!"
As he spoke, he suddenly lunged at me, his movement incredibly swift: "Enough! I won't let you influence my family anymore!"
Alexander tried to intervene but his injury limited his speed: "No!"
I instinctively raised my hands, feeling energy surge from within me through my outstretched palms: "Victor, stop!"
A powerful silver-blue wave of light burst from my palms, flipping Victor over, sending him crashing through the back door and out into the courtyard. The light bulbs in the dining room simultaneously exploded, glass fragments raining down as Sophia screamed, protected beneath Grace.
I looked at my hands in surprise, feeling the flow of energy within me, softly saying: "Astra? Did we do this?"
I quickly walked through the damaged back door, seeing Victor painfully curled up on the lawn. The moonlight shone on him, making him look older than usual.
"You can never kill me again, Victor," I stood before him, feeling an unprecedented calm. "I know you can't. You act like a tough guy, like you're smarter and better than everyone else. But the truth is, you're just afraid. You're afraid of a woman and a child."
"You... ruined... everything..." Victor raised his head with difficulty, blood flowing from his nose, his eyes full of hatred.
"No," I crouched down, looking at him with pity, "you ruined everything yourself, with your paranoia and hatred."
Victor suddenly grabbed my wrist: "Your parents... they were just as stubborn... until the very end..."
Pain flashed in my eyes, but I quickly calmed down, just gripping Victor's collar tightly. Watching his face redden from suffocation, a flash of fear in his eyes. In this moment, I wanted nothing more than to slowly strangle him, to torture him.
Just as I was about to kill him to avenge my parents, footsteps sounded behind me. Alexander stumbled to my side: "Natasha! Stay away from him! He will do anything to hurt you!"
I finally released my grip, throwing him to the ground, slowly standing up: "You've already failed, Victor. Look around, your son, your granddaughter, they're all against you!"
Killing him like this would be too easy for him. I want to watch him be abandoned by everyone he cares about.
