Chapter 241

Chapter 241
Natasha's POV

Seeing a familiar figure lying on the distant grass, my heart almost stopped beating.

"Alexander!" I wanted to shout, but only a wolf's whimper escaped my throat.

Instinctively, I transformed back into human form. The process was quicker and less painful than I had imagined. I fell to my knees beside Alexander, my hands trembling as I touched his blood-covered face.

Victor also lay nearby, surrounded by scattered silver blade fragments, his body covered in wounds from the knife.

Somehow the knife had shattered in his hand, injuring not only him but Alexander as well.

But Victor's wounds were more numerous, and he appeared to have stopped breathing.

As for Alexander, besides the wounds from the fight, he had a knife wound in his chest with the largest piece of the broken blade embedded in it. Only the slight rise and fall of his chest proved he was still alive.

In that moment, like the knife, my heart shattered into countless pieces.

"Alexander?" I said softly, gently patting the side of his face, my throat almost too constricted to speak. "Alexander, say something."

Perhaps it was just my wishful thinking, but I swear I saw his eyelids flutter.

He wasn't dead yet... I was certain of that.

"Alexander! Wake up! Look at me!"

His eyes opened weakly, his blue irises now dim. I saw his hand move slightly, but he clearly lacked the strength. "Nat..." Hearing him unable to even call my name completely, I knew he was weakening to the point of death.

I gripped his hand tightly, seeing droplets falling onto his face. I tried to wipe them away, but they kept coming, impossible to stop.

"Don't... cry..." saying these words clearly drained him of much energy, and I only then realized I was crying, quickly wiping away my tears with my hand.

"Astra, help me, please," I called to my wolf spirit in my mind.

I could feel that Astra was now stronger than ever before. She was no longer just a vague voice in my head, but part of me—we had completely merged.

"I'll try, but I can't promise anything," Astra's voice echoed in my mind. "You've just transformed, and your power is still unstable."

I placed my hands on Alexander's most severe chest wound, closed my eyes, and concentrated fully. Soon, I felt a warm current flowing from within me, transferring into Alexander's body. Perhaps because the healing process was too painful, Alexander's body kept twisting, and I could only tearfully hold him down with my other hand. Thankfully, the wound was slowly healing.

Suddenly, he violently coughed up blood, as if finally regaining some consciousness. He stared at me for a moment: "Natasha... you did it... you transformed..."

I nodded, continuing to focus on healing him. But just as the treatment was halfway through, Alexander suddenly grabbed my wrist with what seemed like all his remaining strength.

"Stop... it will harm the baby..." he said with difficulty.

I shook my head, tears falling onto his face again. "No, I can't let you die! Sophia needs you, I need you!"

Alexander struggled to raise his hand, gently wiping the tears from my face. "It's okay, my... Natasha... you're stronger... than you think..."

Alexander finished speaking with a groan. My eyes widened instantly as I watched a red bloodstain blossom beneath his white shirt, quickly dyeing half of it deep crimson.

Soon, his injuries were even worse than when I first found him. Even so, his hand still gripped mine firmly, determinedly pulling it away.

"What are you doing?" I screamed. I struggled to place my hand back on him, but he used all his strength to pull me away, refusing to let go.

Just then, a sharp pain shot through my abdomen, and I let out a painful moan. At the same time, the silver light at our connection point began to flicker unstably, and the power being transferred was fading.

"I can't feel Astra anymore!" I cried out in terror, pressing my hand against my abdomen.

Alexander's eyes flashed with pain and understanding: "She's... protecting the child... it's... the right choice..."

I shook my head. "No, that won't do." I gripped his hand tightly, my eyes full of tears. "We've only just found each other..."

"Astra!" I shouted, "Help me! What are you doing?"

Astra seemed to have fallen asleep, not responding. I could only press hard against Alexander's continuously bleeding wound.

"Wow..." My face suddenly felt hot. When I opened my eyes, through a crimson vision, I saw blood constantly seeping from the corners of Alexander's mouth.

I finally broke down sobbing. "Help me! Astra! He's going to die!"

Astra's calm voice finally sounded. "The healing process has been interrupted, and he's experiencing backlash now. He won't recover." She paused for a moment. "Besides... the child in your womb is already struggling with the energy drain..."

Before she could finish, I collapsed, shouting, "I don't care, I just want Alexander to live now!"
Baby, I'm sorry. Mommy can only save daddy first. I can't bear the pain of losing Alexander. If he dies, I have a feeling I won't live much longer either.

Finally, Astra let out a long sigh, as if compromising. A small amount of energy transferred from my fingertips to Alexander, and I once again focused on healing him.

Alexander seemed to have lost his last bit of strength. He smiled, his eyes shining with deep love as he looked at me: "Take care of... Sophia for me... tell her... daddy will always love her..."

"Shut up!" I shouted, my vision completely blurred by tears. "You'll be fine soon, I'll heal you quickly."

He shook his head, slowly raising his hand to caress my face: "You know... I've never... told anyone... I love you..."

His fingers were cold and weak, still trembling constantly. I looked down at his ashen face, my heart feeling as if it had been torn apart.

Without hesitation, I cupped Alexander's face and leaned down to kiss his forehead: "I love you too, Alexander Morgan, I've always loved you."

Alexander smiled at me, the light in his eyes gradually fading: "I know... I've always... known..."

As he spoke, he looked up directly at me, his steel-blue pupils already clouded, only moments away from death. I felt my strength disappearing as I collapsed onto the wet grass, crying.

"Natasha..." his hand fell to the ground.

Helpless, I could only grasp his cold hand and press it against my face.

"I really love you, Alexander," I repeated through my sobs, afraid it would be the last time I could tell him. "I love you."

Alexander's face showed a small satisfied smile, and then his hand fell limply.
