Chapter 33

Zoe

Zoe is on her way home from the mall when her car is hit and pushed off the road. Zoe keeps screaming for help as she struggles to regain her composure and assess the surrounding damage. Midst the chaos, she catches sight of a figure approaching through the haze of dust and debris, their silhouette growing clearer as she realizes it is her father and Wyatt. They injected something into her neck, and she passed out after that.

She awakens to find herself in a dungeon. This cell is different from the one they had her and Max in, and she’s not sure how she can get out of here. She tries really hard to open a portal, but her magic is blocked. She also does not know if Max or Cole are alive. Thankfully, Katelynn and Beth had gotten a ride home with Eric because they needed to go to another store. Zoe had to go home because she had to meet up with Belinda.

Now, she is sitting in a cell with her back against the cold wall. Now, she is sitting in a cell with her back against the cold wall.

Now she sitting in a cell with her back against the cold wall. As she listens intently for any signs of movement, a flicker of determination ignites within her, compelling Zoe to devise a plan for escape, even if it means facing whatever horrors lurk beyond her prison. With a deep breath, she begins to mentally map out her surroundings, searching for any weaknesses in the cell’s structure that might aid her in breaking free and reuniting with her Mate. Just as she begins to formulate her escape strategy, a faint sound echoes through the darkness, prompting her to freeze and strain her ears, hoping it’s a sign that someone else might be trapped nearby and could potentially help her find a way out.

The next thing Zoe knows, her cell door is ripped open, and in walks her drunk father. She realizes that he looks ready to murder her. Before she can process what’s happening, she instinctively recoils, her heart racing as the reality of her father’s volatile state sinks in. She is forced to confront the terrifying possibility that the person she once trusted most has become a threat in this twisted nightmare. Desperation floods her mind as she searches for an escape route, knowing that time is of the essence and that every moment spent in his presence could be her last.

Just as her father lunges forward, fueled by a mix of anger and intoxication, Zoe’s instincts kick in. She swiftly darts to the side, scanning the dimly lit corridor for any means of escape while her heart pounds in her chest, urging her to move before it’s too late. Using the little strength she has, she throws her father across the cell. Seizing the moment of surprise, she bolts past him into the corridor, her pulse racing as she navigates the shadows, determined to find a way back to her mate.

Alpha Wyatt stops her. He inspects her face where his father had hit her and apologizes, saying he wasn’t supposed to hurt her. Wyatt walks her back to the cell and throws her inside. Zoe wonders why her father had taken her out of the cell in the first place. He starts dragging her father out of the basement, and as the heavy door slams shut behind her, Zoe’s mind races with possibilities. Hope ignites within her as she thinks she might still find a way to turn the tide against the darkness closing in around her.

Jackson is going to kill you all, I yell at the guard. I am cold and tired and want to be in the bedroom with Jackson. The guard’s expression remains impassive, but Zoe can see a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes, igniting a glimmer of hope that perhaps she could exploit this moment to sow doubt and pave the way for her eventual escape. Summoning all her courage, Zoe leans closer to the bars, her voice steady yet laced with urgency as she implores the guard to reconsider his loyalty, hinting at the consequences of aligning with Alpha Wyatt and the impending chaos that Jackson would unleash if she remained captive.

As Zoe’s words linger in the air, she observes the guard’s brow furrow in contemplation, a crack forming in his facade of indifference. Seizing the opportunity, she begins to plant seeds of rebellion that could one day grow into a full-blown uprising against their captors. Just then, she hears Wyatt yelling, prompting the guard to turn and leave her alone once again.

Zoe calls down the dark hallway, asking if anyone is there, but all she receives in response is an eerie silence. This amplifies her sense of isolation and fuels her resolve to break free from this nightmarish prison. She knows she must summon every ounce of strength and cunning to survive. Determined not to succumb to despair, Zoe starts strategist her next steps, envisioning a daring escape that would liberate her and rally any allies she could find in this treacherous place. She yearns for revenge against her captors. She wants her father gone, and she wants Wyatt gone.

She finishes the food on the tray and, with a determined spirit, curls up on the mattress in the corner. Her resolve to reach the Garden of Eve and reunite with Jackson, her mate, is unwavering. The thought of their separation makes her wolf feel sad, but it also strengthens her determination.
