~Celine~
Even though I knew deep down that leaving Xavier alone at the party was uncalled for, I couldn’t ignore Alpha Kilhan’s constant sulking, begging me to go home with him.
But I couldn’t just make such a decision. I had a life in Beacon city and I couldn’t just let go of it and return to New York City, especially when I still have a bounty on me.
My father is probably still turning the earth upside down just to find me. I can’t come out of this mask. Not now.
“Jessica baby, C’mon. You don’t have to think too hard about this. We both know we are supposed to be together, don’t we? We feel the same thing. The same intense connection. Why is it so hard to accept this?
“Are you scared I’ll hurt you? I will never do that. And if you think I’d be with another woman, erase that thought from your head, I haven’t been with any other woman since we met. So please, come home with me.” He further convinced me, staring into my eyes.
I knew he was my mate. But am I ready to settle down with an Alpha? I can’t make a decision on a night like this. Who knows if it’s his heightened sex appeal that is feeding him with this perfect words.
“Fine, Alpha Kilhan. I’ll follow you, only on one condition.” I responded, and immediately, his face lit up with excitement.
“Tell me! Anything!”
“You… are coming home with me.” I answered, causing him to lift his brows in awe.
“What? Your house?”
“Yes! Just for tonight. You can go back the next morning if you want. But if you want to be with me so badly tonight, it’s going to be at my place.” I proposed, and he went silent for a moment.
“Okay! Let’s go now.” He responded, raising his shoulders in contentment.
‘He really is so down for me, isn’t he?’
“But Xav…”
“Can you stop mentioning his name? Or do you want me to give him my attention?” He muttered within clenched jaws.
“No. No. Let’s go.” I answered, grabbing his hand and pulling him with me. The last thing I wanted was to also get Xavier, an innocent lone wolf involved with an Alpha.
Though Alpha Kilhan seems nice, I believe there are still many things I don’t know about him. I want to believe that my father didn’t show my mother his monstrous side when they met.
Maybe that is why she fell into his trap, fell in love with him and is now dead. Alpha are just not good people.
“Hey, what’s on your mind?” I heard him ask, after he noticed my hand was gradually slipping off his. He hastily grabbed my hand, holding it firmly in his before it could totally slip off.
“You said you came here for business. What business?” I inquired, ignoring my thoughts.
“Oh. That. Just some plan to expand my business to more states in New York. And then, I found myself here! It is no coincidence. Everything keeps bringing us together.” He uttered, and I left out a sigh.
He always tries to make everything about me or us.
Without letting go of my hand, we walked back to my apartment, enjoying the busy night.
After a while, we got into my apartment.
“Here we are.” I muttered weakly, slamming into my bed and pulling my mask off my face.
There was silence and I raised my head to look at Alpha Kilhan who just stared at my face.
“What?” I asked, creasing my brows.
“That makeup. I can barely recognize you.” He said, and I scoffed.
“But you did, didn’t you?” I asked, walking to my mirror. I picked up a wipe and began to clean off my makeup with it.
“I did, because I could recall every other part of you. Not only your face.” He responded, finally taking his time to look around my house.
“Hey!” He uttered, causing me to look at him. He stood in front of his picture pasted on my wall, grinning widely.
“Ugh. I totally forgot I still had it there.” I mumbled, heaving a sigh.
“You do feel me too, don’t you?”
“Oh please. I just put that there so I can always remember to thank you for the money anytime I wake up.” I answered, but he didn’t seem to pay attention to what I said.
He was still very amused that I had his picture on my wall.
After I cleaned off my makeup, I walked up to him and stood in front of him, diverting his attention from the poster to me.
“Thank you. For the money.” I uttered, as our gazes both locked again.
He smiled softly and reached for my face, holding it in his hands. “Don’t thank me, that is nothing compared to what I’m going to do.” He answered as his gaze fell to my lips, staring at them intensely.
“Now this is the Jessica I know. So beautiful.” He traced his finger on my cheek, still gazing at my lips.
I felt my knees wobble as his stare drove me insane. But no! I am not going to have sex with him! Not tonight. I need to get my head straight on this one.
‘If I have sex with him tonight and he marks me, that’s all. There’s no going back. I’ll officially become his. I still don’t know if I want this.’
“I bet you must have seen the wanted posters of me all over the place.” I uttered, moving away from him and settling on the bed.
“Yes. About that, Jessica, I am so sorry.” He answered, moving close to me.
“What? Why are you sorry?” I scoffed, rubbing my palms on my thighs.
“I know I took it too far. I shouldn’t have done it, but I was so desperate to find you. I was going to do whatever it took to be with you again.” He explained, and my jaw dropped in awe.
“You were the one that did that?!” I smacked in anger, standing up from the bed.
“Yes. Who else would…”
With the burning rage in me, I raised my hand to hit him in the face, but he grabbed my wrist right in time to stop me.
“Hmm Hmm. I wouldn’t want to do that, darling.” He pulled me closer, holding me firmly to himself by my waist.
“You put a bounty on me! You think I’ll just forgive you?!” I yelled, trying to get out of his grip, but he was way stronger than he looked.
“Let’s not call it a bounty, okay? It’s more like a reward. You’re no criminal. I thought it was going to help me find you faster. I’m sorry, love.” He apologized, still holding me tightly to himself.
“Let go of me, okay?! I wanted to start a life here and you just ruined it with your plan.”
“I promise it will be all gone by tomorrow morning.” He grunted, as he finally let me pull my hands out from his grip.
“How could you!” I hit his chest aggressively, but this didn’t even make him flinch.
“I’m sorry, Jessica.” He uttered with a remorseful expression, immediately commanding calmness in my body.
He slowly released his grip from my waist, and I moved away from him.
I did feel a little relief though. At least now I know my father didn’t pull that stunt. Maybe he has even given up and forgotten me.
‘The posters are the only thing that had pulled my attention after my father freezed my account, and the posters are not even from him. Which means, he must have given up after freezing my account, right? Maybe he eventually decided to disown me like I’ve always wanted.’
“Tell me what to do to make it up to you, Jessica. I’ll do anything.”
“You want to make it up to me? Then leave. Go away. I’m so mad at you right now.” I uttered, pointing to the door.
“I’ll do anything except leave you alone. I can’t leave you knowing you now hate me. I was selfish and I’m sorry, but you drive me crazy, Jessica. I have no idea what I’m doing when it’s about you. Forgive me, okay?”
He closed the gap between us and slowly wrapped his arms around me, making sure I was fine with it.
“I’m sorry.” He whispered, and instead of pushing him away because of the anger in me, I felt myself melt into his arms.
I didn’t want to forgive him just yet, but I couldn’t help it. His embrace was so comforting and warm, I couldn’t push him away anymore.
Still in his arms, I looked out of my window and there was the answer to why I couldn’t get angry at him anymore.
The moon was full in the sky, and Kiara was beginning to take over. Kiara, my wolf, liked him, and that was all that mattered at this point.
Just above my ear, his breathing grew intense as his hands began to take a stroll down my back slowly.
“I want you.” His voice sounded very low yet so loud in my ears.
He moved his head away from mine and when I looked into his eyes, I saw his eyeballs had changed. They were glowing red.
But they weren’t scary at all. Instead, they made me want to say yes to everything he wanted to do to me.
“I want to make love to you.” He whispered, cupping one side of my face with his hand. I slightly tilted my head and shut my eyes as I slowly rubbed my skin against his.
Kiara wanted him. We both wanted him.
He leaned closer in a very swift way, and just when I lifted my head so our lips could touch…
“Jessica?! Are you in there?!” I heard Xavier call out from outside my door, causing my eyes to open.
I looked into Kilhan’s eyes and saw the desire in his bloodshot eyes turn into anger. His seemingly friendly demeanor turned into a monstrous one.
“Jessica?! If you’re in there, I’m sorry I expressed my feelings to you in such a manner! I thought you felt the same way since we were having the perfect time together!”
Before I could do or say anything, Kilhan let go of me and stormed to the door. My eyes widened as my heart sank to my belly in fear for Xavier’s life.
“Kilhan!” I called in an attempt to stop him, but he was at the door already.
“Xavier, run!” I yelled, running to the door.
