After feeding Kendrick, I carried him in my arms and sat in the living room, waiting for Kilhan. Since he left, I couldn’t help but shake the feeling that my father wasn’t just going to believe that he didn’t know where I was.
I just don’t want to put anyone else in trouble. Just then, I remembered that I had yet to call Charles and talk to him after I left the house.
I reached for my phone and dialed his phone number. Just then, Drex walked into the house.
“Miss Celine.” He called and I turned to look at him.
“Drex,” I called with a smile, taking a glance at my phone. It kept ringing but Charles wasn’t answering, so I stopped calling him.
“Are you alright? Worried about Alpha Kilhan?” He asked as he settled on the couch.
“I can’t help but worry. What if my father had gone to the house?”
“If anything happened, I would have received a call from someone at the house. But it has been silent. I think that is a good sign.” He assured me, and I nodded.
“I hope that is the case. I just want all these to stop. My father is always acting unstoppable, but I want someone to stop him. I want to believe someone can and will stop him.”
“Yes. But for now, you should worry about yourself, Kendrick, and your relationship with Alpha Kilhan. I must say you two are really meant for each other. Can’t believe he went back to you even after his mother slipped into a coma weeks ago…”
“What?? Coma? Why? What happened??”
“After your father locked Alpha Kilhan in, the news got to her and she couldn’t take it. So she lost consciousness, and since then, she’s been like that.”
“Oh my… She’ll hate me even more now. It’s all my fault.”
“No, it’s not.”
“That’s what she’ll say, Drex, and you know it. It’s as if everyone gets into trouble anytime I’m close. It’s like a curse.” I mumbled sadly.
“You don’t have to think too much about it, Celine. Our Alpha has chosen you, and we don’t have a choice but to support him.”
“At this point, I think you are the only one who supports him about this decision.”
“Honestly, left to me, I won’t support him too. But he’s my Alpha, and I have to be here when he needs me.” He answered. I gulped hard and nodded in agreement.
I looked at Kendrick and he smiled widely at me. “Here, you should carry him,” I uttered with a soft smile, carrying him and giving him to Drex, who carefully carried him in his arms.
As soon as he was off my hands, my phone began to ring. It was Charles calling me back.
I hastily answered the phone and stood up. “Charles? Are you alright? I’m so sorry I…” I suddenly stopped talking when I heard how intense his breathing was from the other end of the phone.
“Charles? What’s wrong?” I asked worriedly, turning to look at Drex, who now seemed interested in what we were saying.
“He’s… he’s going to kill Danny, Celine. He’s going to kill Danny. I don’t know what to do.” He muttered. He sounded like he was in tears and fear at the same time.
“Charles, who is going to kill Danny?”
“Father! He’s going to kill Danny. He asked about what caused the fight and somehow he found Danny guilty. He threw him in the cell and said they’ll take care of it tomorrow. What should I do? I swear if he kills Danny, I’m going to kill him.”
“Charles? Charles? Please calm down, okay? Calm down.”
“I can’t, Celine! He risked his life for me! I promised him that I’d protect him. I can’t let him kill Danny.”
“He won’t. I promise.”
“You promise? What are you going to do? Call him and tell him not to. Celine, I’m going to kill him. I can’t let him get to Danny.”
“You can’t kill him, Charles. Father is unstoppable.”
“Well, he hasn’t gone against me.” He answered and before I could respond, he hung up.
I looked at Drex, who looked terrified too. “He can’t do anything stupid. He’s going to regret it.”
“What do I do, Drex? I can’t go home, I can’t call my dad, I can’t save Danny. It’s all my fault.”
“Don’t say that, okay? Your father is a terrible person. That’s not your fault.”
I settled down on the couch, my head lowered in deep, sad thoughts. I knew Charles would hate himself if Danny died.
While I reminisced, The door opened, and Kilhan walked in.
“Kilhan!” I called with relief, running towards him to embrace him.
“Celine!” He called, wrapping his arms around me.
“How was it? Did he come to the house? How did you get rid of him?” Drex asked enthusiastically, standing up with Kendrick.
“He did come to the house, but he ended up leaving when he didn’t see her. I also had to make him understand that I hate him and his family and never want to have anything to do with him. So yeah, it was pretty convincing.” He explained, and I gulped hard and nodded.
“Something is happening in the house and I can’t do anything about it,” I muttered sadly, walking back to the couch.
“What’s happening?” Kilhan asked, settling next to me and holding my hand.
“My father is going to kill the guard that started the fight so I could escape. And this guard happens to be Charles’ boyfriend.”
“What? Why?” Kilhan inquired.
“Because my father always loves to blame someone for every mistake. And Charles is going to do something stupid if that happens. He said he’s going to kill Darius.” I answered, and his eyes widened.
“That is a death sentence.”
“I know, but I can’t stop Charles. Not when I’m here…”
“Hey, listen. You’re not going to get involved with that. This time, we have to lay low. Even those at the house don’t know you’re here and that we’re together. Right now, I just want us to enjoy this.” He uttered in almost a whisper, caressing my face with his hands.
I shut my eyes and slowly rubbed my face against his palm even more. I opened my eyes slightly, staring into his eyes.
“I… I should take Kendrick on a walk around the house.” Drex stuttered, hastily heading out of the house.
“I need you to concentrate on us. Let your brother and your father take care of themselves. Now, you worry about yourself.” He softly said to me, and I licked my lower lip.
“I missed you,” I muttered softly, staring at his lips. I leaned closer, my lips slowly parting at every inch closer.
All of a sudden, he leaned closer to me too, and covered my lips with his. My eyes rolled up under its lids as I felt his warmth. I couldn’t remember the last time I had such a feeling.
I opened my lips wider, searching earnestly for his tongue. His hands quickly reached for my shirt, ready to get rid of it.
He broke the hug, panting hard as he locked his hungry gaze with mine.
“I want you now.”
