~Celine~
For the first time after a week, I got out of my room. By this time, I had been able to pack a full bag of clothes and other essentials without my father’s knowledge, all thanks to Charles.
I knew if I kept being in the room and not talking to my father, going to Kilhan would never be possible.
‘I need to make him believe I’m starting to get over the fact that he murdered my son’s father.’
Getting to the living room, I looked up and saw Father having breakfast with Ashley. He also looked up, and when he saw me, his eyes widened.
“Celine, finally!” He uttered happily as I approached the dining table.
“Hi, Celine. Would you like to join us? Breakfast remains.” Ashley uttered, and I shook my head, letting out a faint grin.
“I’m okay, thank you. Have you seen Charles?” I asked, looking around the living room again.
“Yes, he’s in the kitchen,” Ashley answered, and I bobbed.
“Thank you,” I answered as I turned to leave.
“Celine, my child…”
“Father, please. I still don’t want to talk to you, okay?” I cut him short as I turned to look at him, and he nodded obediently, swallowing hard.
Heading to the kitchen, my heart began pounding against my chest. The path I was trialing was a dangerous one, but I care less. I just wanted to get back to Kilhan as soon as possible.
Getting to the kitchen, I met Charles drinking some cold water from the fridge.
“Charles,” I called softly, and he turned to look at me.
“Celine? You’re out of your room.” He uttered in surprise, and I nodded, moving closer to him.
“If I keep staying there, it won’t be easy for me to escape, will it?” I asked, and he shook his head.
“I’m not sure. It depends on how you plan to escape.” He answered, and I heaved a sigh.
“I told Kilhan I’ll come to him and I don’t even know how I’ll achieve that. This man has refused to leave the house.” I muttered in frustration.
“That shouldn’t be your only worry. If you go missing today, Darius would know the first place to check, and that will be Kilhan’s home. You can’t go there.”
I opened my mouth to speak, and all of a sudden, he placed his finger on my lips, staring out of the kitchen door. I lifted my brows in confusion as he grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the kitchen, and out of the house.
When I looked at the dining table on our way out, I couldn’t find my father seated there anymore.
After we got outside the house, Charles heaved a loud sigh and let go of me.
“What was that about?” I asked, and he looked at the door to the house.
“While we were talking in the kitchen, I saw Darius stand and leave the dining table. I knew he was going to the private room to listen to whatever we were talking about. Remember everywhere in this house except your room has a microphone?”
“Oh my… yes. Yes. That’s true. I almost forgot. He would have heard our plans again. I hate him so much.” I muttered, running my fingers through my hair.
“I suggest that when you eventually escape this shithole, don’t go straight to Kilhan’s or you all could get into trouble again. Go somewhere far from here and him, and let him come and meet you there. We need to make Darius powerless over you this time.” He explained.
“It’s so easy to say, but how do I even escape? He’s always on the watch, and so are his men.” I muttered, my eyes scanning through the faces of the guards who watched every corner of the compound.
“Well, maybe this is good news or not, I’d love to share it with you. I started this father and son talk with Darius, and he seemed pretty excited about it.”
“Father and son talk? What is that about?” I asked with ignorance.
“I told him I love what he’s doing and I’d love him to show me and teach me what war means on the field.” He further shared.
“On the field?”
“Yes. Outside the house. I realized that Darius doesn’t do his dirty work himself most of the time. He sends his people, and all it takes is one phone call. He wouldn’t get out of the house for you to escape if he continued doing that.
“So I told him I’d love to know what it feels like outside the house.”
“You want to go with him on an operation?”
“Yes. I know he likes doing some killings himself when he gets bored, and I know he’ll do another very soon. I’ll ask him to take me with him. He can’t do the killings here because you already warned him not to. So we’d have to leave the house.”
“You think he listened to me? He killed Kilhan right there in the cell house.”
“But he wasn’t killed, was he? He made you believe he did that, but he didn’t. This would work, Celine. I promise you.”
“What if he tells you to do the killing instead? You told him you want to know what it feels like, right? What if he asks you to rip out hearts? You haven’t done such a thing before, have you?”
“No, I haven’t. But if that is what it takes for you to get Kendrick out of here, I’ll do it. It would make it even better. If he does the killing alone, then we’ll finish up on time and head back home. You won’t have enough time to move far from the house.” He explained, and I let out a deep breath.
“I don’t want to put you in such a condition,” I muttered, shaking my head.
“I’m already in that condition, Celine. You should bother about getting past the guards now. I’ve got Darius covered.”
“About that. Can you talk to your friend about it?” I asked eagerly.
“My friend?” He furrowed his brows.
“Yes. The one you’re seeing. Remember you told me you have a lover among the guards?? That helped us up to this point?”
“Lover?” He scoffed. “We are just f**king, Celine.” He muttered, and I raised my brows in surprise.
“Well, can you talk to him?”
“Sure. I bet he’ll do anything I want.” He uttered, his gaze fixed above my shoulders.
I turned to look at who he was staring at, and it happened to be that one of the guards walked out of the house door. He had a soft smile on his face as he stared back at Charles.
My eyes slowly widened as I turned to look at my brother again. “You choose the prettiest one!” I uttered, playfully hitting his shoulder.
He lowered his head and smiled shyly. “Shhh!” He silenced me nervously.
“Mister Charles.” Someone called from behind me, and when I turned to look at who it was, it happened to be Charles’ lover.
“Hmm.” I smiled.
“Yes, Danny,” Charles answered, moving closer to him without breaking their intense eye contact.
“Alpha Darius wants to talk to you. Right now.” He uttered with an unwavering gaze too.
“Right now? What’s happening? Was he angry when he told you to fetch me?” Charles asked, and Danny nodded.
“He was very upset. He called out of the private room for me to fetch you. Did you do something to him?” He asked fearfully, and Charles shook his head.
“I don’t know. I’ll just have to find out.” Charles answered, holding Danny’s hand in his.
“Charles,” I called fearfully, and he looked at me and let out a soft smile.
“Nothing is wrong, okay? Relax.” He assured him, even though it didn’t stop me from being scared for him.
Danny and I watched him as he walked away.
“Do you think he is in trouble?” Danny asked, and I shook my head slowly.
“I have no idea.”
