~Alpha Kilhan~
“Shut the doors!” I ordered the guards, but my mother stopped them and walked in.
“What the hell is happening? Why was Jessica crying?” She asked in confusion as the guards closed the door behind her.
I kept quiet and walked back to my desk. I sat on my chair, breathing hard. I looked at my mother and saw how shocked she was to see my office scattered and papers littered all over the floor.
“Kilhan, talk to me!” She yelled, and I clenched my jaws.
“Take a look at it yourself, okay? Take a look at that!” I smacked, pointing to the picture of Alpha Darius Gomez and Celine on the couch.
With her brows furrowed, she picked up the picture and stared at it. Her eyes widened as she looked at me again.
“She’s Alpha Darius’ daughter?” She asked in awe, and I nodded.
“Not only did she lie to me about her identity, I found out that Alpha Darius has a hand in her father’s death,” I answered, and this time, her jaw dropped in astonishment and then confusion followed.
“What? How is that possible?? Darius is in New Orleans, and your father has always been in New York. How did they even get to connect?” She further inquired.
Her questions kept driving me to the fact I found out about my father and I wasn’t ready to spill it out yet. I wasn’t ready to nurse my feelings and hers at the same time.
“I’ll tell you more later, Mother. I need to think right now.” I answered, cupping my face in my hands.
“What? I need to know more! You just told me one of the most feared Alpha’s had a hand in your father’s death…”
“And my mate is his daughter! Yes, I know!” I butted in.
“Then why did you let her go?! We’d never be able to get revenge on Darius if we didn't have something of his own!”
I raised my eyebrows in awe and looked at her again. “All you care about is this revenge? You don’t care how I feel about finding out that the love of my life is part of those I have sworn to kill?!”
“You’re an Alpha, Kilhan! You’re not weak and emotional! We were robbed of our joy by her father. To hell with emotions! She was supposed to be our key to ending this revenge once and for all.”
“I would never hurt Jessica!” I responded almost immediately. “If I have to face Alpha Darius alone, fine. I’ll do it.”
“No, you won’t! This is Kilhan talking! I need Khan, we need your wolf who wouldn’t act on emotions but see things the way they are!”
Her persistence began to push me to anger. I fought so hard to resist Khan and now she wants him back?
“You have no idea what would happen if I let Khan take over, do you?! You should leave, mother. We would talk about this when we are both calm and have thought about all of this rubbish well.”
After I spoke, she gulped hard and turned to leave. She stormed out of the office, slamming the door behind her.
While I remained quiet and deep in thought about what to do next, I heard the voice of one of my guards.
“Alpha Kilhan, the nurse is here…”
“Send her away. Her patient isn’t here anymore.”
“But Alpha…” I heard the voice of the nurse and cut her short.
“I said leave!” I roared, and that was all that was heard.
After a few minutes, I picked up the papers Jarius gave me and began to go through them one after the other.
The paper about Celine Gomez stated that she had tried to escape her father’s house thrice, she lost her mother at age seven. After reading more information for a while, I tossed it away and picked Alpha Darius’ instead.
“I need to find a way to get Darius, Khan. Maybe through his business, the people around him, or even a weakness of his.”
“You should know Darius hardly has a weakness. Celine would have been a better option to get to him.”
“I am not going to hurt her.”
“You, not me.”
“We are not going to hurt Celine! You just have to help me get him without her.”
“Why do you still care, hun? She isn’t your mate anymore. Listen, you are an Alpha! Alphas are not kind and sweet to those that hurt them. The earlier you accept this, the better.
“Enough of being a good man. The world doesn’t need a good Alpha and Celine Gomez and her father just proved that to you.”
“Khan,” I called, trying to caution the thoughts in my head.
“You can’t defeat Darius if you keep resisting me, let me take over, and we’ll avenge your father’s death once and for all. Embrace the real you, Kilhan.”
Khan was so loud in my ears and I could feel vibrations run through my body.
“You won’t have to feel hurt anymore. You’ll be unstoppable! The greatest version of you.”
Thinking about all these, I leaned over and placed my head on the desk weakly.
I kept going through everything I had found out in less than an hour.
‘Khan is right. This world doesn’t deserve a good Alpha.’ I thought.
“Fine,” I muttered and raised my head.
One minute, everything went blank and void, and the next minute, I felt a surge of energy from inside of me.
A feeling I had never felt before. I raised my hands and stared at them. It was like I was a stranger in my own body.
A smirk formed on my face as I stood up and walked to the full mirror in my office. I stood in front of the mirror and faced by my reflection, I saw my eyeballs were now bloodshot.
The smirk disappeared from my face as I walked back to the couch. Just then, the door opened and someone walked in.
I turned to look back and I saw Betty. Immediately our eyes locked, and she stopped as fear overwhelmed her.
“Come in,” I ordered, looking away.
“Your… your eyes.” She stuttered and I nodded as I sat on the couch.
“I know,” I responded, pointing to the couch in front of me.
She eventually moved from where she was and slowly sat, still staring at me in disbelief.
“She made you do it.” She muttered, and I kept mute, staring at her.
She stood up from the couch again and moved to the couch I sat on. She slowly reached for my hand, causing me to look at her again.
“And your smell…” She sniffed my hand and took a deep breath. “Is so strong and intoxicating. The aura around you is so intense.” She uttered, admiring my face with her eyes.
“I thought she was going to bring out the worst version of you, but I was wrong. Her stupidity brought out the best version of you. The version I had always looked forward to.” She cupped one side of my face in her other hand.
“Welcome, My Kilhan.”
