~Celine~
While I lay down, thinking of how to tell Alpha Kilhan the truth, I felt another urgent urge to puke.
I hastily got out of the bed and ran to the bathroom to vomit. My head felt so heavy and I could hardly think straight.
After vomiting and washing my face, I fell to the ground and started breathing hard. Not only was my body tired, but also my brain. I couldn’t help but worry about Alpha Kilhan’s reaction when I told him the truth.
While still deep in thought, I heard Kiara mutter in a low voice. “Ashley Grayson.”
Instantly, the name rang a bell and the face of a familiar woman flashed through my head. My eyes popped wide open and my breathing ceased as I finally recalled who she was.
I grabbed onto the ground as I thought hard about it.
“Ashley Grayson! She’s my Aunt!” I yelled in my head. My weak and faint body grew weaker at the thought of this.
‘How did it even happen?! How did they meet in the first place?’ I began to ponder. I managed to stand up even though my whole body began to shiver.
What I had always wanted and feared eventually caught up with me. ‘Why does someone in my family have anything to do with his father’s death? Why did she even date him if she had a husband?!’
I grabbed my head as I walked into the room. I began to pace in front of my bed, trying to put one and one together.
“But you can’t be so sure that she had something to do with his death,” Kiara uttered, trying to calm me down, but it wasn’t working.
“He said he suspects she has something to do with it. If he looks into her and her family, he’ll get to my mother, and then to her husband, and then me! I’m doomed, Kiara. We are doomed! He’ll find out!”
“And that is why you need to talk to him now!” Kiara yelled in my head.
And before I could say or do anything, I heard footsteps approaching my door. Without hesitation, I jumped into my bed and pulled the duvet over me.
I looked at the door as it opened and watched Alpha Kilhan walk in with a lady behind him. The lady was dressed in a nursing outfit and had a stethoscope around her neck and a small box bag in her hand.
“Hey, baby. How are you feeling now?” Alpha Kilhan asked worriedly, sitting next to me.
“I am better. I told you not to worry.” I mumbled, staring at the nurse.
“You should know that I won’t just sit down and watch when I know you’re ill. Since you don’t want to go to the hospital, I had to bring the hospital to you.” He answered with a soft smile, which I reciprocated.
He moved aside as soon as the nurse moved closer so she could check me out. Her heart wouldn’t stop pounding against my chest because I couldn’t stop thinking about what I had just realized.
She placed the stethoscope on my chest and after a few minutes, she made strange eye contact with me. She listened again, this time, tilting her head slightly as if that was going to make her hear better.
Alpha Kilhan furrowed his brows as he watched her closely. I could see worry taking over him as he stared at her.
“What’s wrong? What’s wrong with her?” He asked worriedly, but the nurse said nothing. Instead, she proceeded to check my eyes.
Seeing Alpha Kilhan watch her do this to me made me feel very uncomfortable, even though I wasn’t sure why.
“Baby, you forgot to bring the water,” I uttered, rubbing my throat like it had completely gone dry.
“Oh! I’m so sorry. I forgot. I’ll get you a glass now, okay?” He responded, and I nodded with a smile. He hastily got up and made his way out of the room.
I turned to look at the nurse and asked; “What the hell is wrong with me? And why do you keep making that face?”
She smiled softly and reached for my hand. “I think you’re pregnant, Ma’am.”
“What?!” I exclaimed, looking at my flat belly. “That’s impossible. This is probably just fatigue and… and, maybe fever…” I stammered, and she chuckled.
Without saying a word, she reached for her box bag pulled out a pregnancy test, and showed it to me.
“You’re going to have to pee on this.” She uttered, passing it to me.
“Why? I told you I’m not pregnant.” I responded. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to think about being a mother when I still couldn’t figure out how to talk to Kilhan about my true identity.
“If you are not pregnant, the test will tell us that. But let’s confirm it first, okay?” She insisted.
I heaved a sigh and stared at the test held between my fingers carefully. “What if I’m pregnant, Kiara? What should I do?” I muttered, getting out of bed.
“Then it’s to your favor! Once he knows you’re carrying his child, he won't be so mad at you.” Kiara answered.
“You think?” I further inquired fearfully.
“I don’t know, okay?? But that’s how it should be. You just have to tell him as soon as you can. Once the nurse leaves, you better spill your guts.” Kiara added with all seriousness in her tone.
“Fine. I’ve heard you.”
I sat on the toilet and peeped on the test as requested. After I was done, I raised the test stick and my jaw dropped. There was another thick line.
“You’re pregnant!” Kiara yelled in my head, causing my eyes to pop wide open.
“It’s real,” I muttered as I zoned into space, staring at the positive result in front of me.
“Ma’am, are you done?” The voice of the nurse called me back to reality, and I raised my head and looked at the door.
Speechlessly, I walked out of the restroom, with the test stick in my hand. I gave it to her and when she looked at it, a wide smile popped up on her face.
“I knew it! Congratulations!” She yelled excitedly, but I hastily placed my finger on her lips.
“Shhhh! Don’t say a word about this to Alpha Kilhan. I’d love to break the news to him myself.” I said to her, and she nodded obediently.
“You can just let him know I need more rest or just come up with something believable,” I added.
“I understand, Ma’am. I’m just so excited. You’re a Luna now.” She responded excitedly, which made me wonder why she was so happy I was pregnant.
“Some people are just so annoying. Can you tell her to stop making noise and let me think of the next thing to do?!” Kiara said to me angrily.
“You should leave now. I need to sleep.” I said to her as I dragged my feet on the tiled floor to my bed.
“Okay.” She replied as she packed her stuff in her box bag and headed out of the room.
“Go after her Celine. Go to Kilhan and tell him everything, now that he’s worried about you and you’re carrying your baby.” Kiara further pressed.
“I know, okay? I heard you the first time. I’m going.” I answered out of frustration, heading out of my room too.
“You can’t blame me for pressing you. You don’t listen to me ever.” She retorted, causing me to roll her eyes.
Just then I remembered that I had asked Alpha Kilhan to bring me some water, but he didn’t come back.
“Where is he now?” I wondered as I walked down the hallway.
Then I sighted one of the omegas of the pack, walking towards me with a glass of water in his hand.
“Ma’am Jessica, Alpha Kilhan said I should bring this to you in your room.” He said after stopping me.
“Really? Where is he anyway?” I asked, collecting the glass from him as I took a sip from the water.
“In his office. Jarius has an impromptu meeting with him.” He said to me.
Upon hearing this, I unconsciously spat out the water in my mouth. “What? He’s in the office with him, right now?” I asked as tension instantly overwhelmed me.
“Yes. What’s wrong? You don’t look good.” He uttered worriedly as I felt my face melting in fear. I pushed the glass up against his chest and let it go.
I began to run towards his office. There were voices in my head, screaming and yelling. ‘What if he’s here because he has gotten more information on Ashley Greyson and her family? What if he now knows my family?!’
Swear began to ooze out of my pores as I dashed to his office. Tears streamed down uncontrollably as I could feel that the worst was coming to get me.
Getting to his office, I ignored the guards at the door and turned the door knob. I busted into his office, my chest rising and falling as I stared at him from where he sat across his desk.
Seeing me, I saw the muscles on his face tightening, and his eyes grew dark and red, causing shivers to run down my spine. ‘Is it over, Kiara?’ I thought in fear as I couldn’t move from where I was.
I was stuck to the ground.
“Alpha…”
“Don’t you dare call my name, Celine!” He roared in a terrifying, cold voice I had never heard before.
‘F**k.’
