AHK - C3
Kaeleigh POV
I slammed the door as I rushed into my room. What the hell was wrong with me? I was still shaken from the kiss. I touched my lips with my fingers and instantly remembered the feel of Asher’s lips on mine. This wasn’t right. How could I have feelings for him? Of all people. How could I be upset over Hunter but then think of Asher and the way his lips felt on mine? Or the way his hands felt as they slide down my body towards my-
“FUCK!” I exclaimed “What the hell?” I shook the invading thoughts from my head and paced my room. I was clearly going stir crazy locked up in here. I needed to get out! I quickly changed into a sports bra and joggers and pulled my hair up into a high ponytail and grabbed my earphones and phone. Of course, it couldn’t be considered a real phone since it was blocked from making calls apart from to certain numbers and there wasn’t any internet connection. I suspected that if it wasn’t for the fact I still couldn’t mindlink, I wouldn’t have had one at all. As it was, it was a glorified music player. I headed out of the room towards the gym. Maybe I could burn off some of the pent up tension in me on the treadmill.
The gym was empty when I got there, which I expected. Asher would be working on Alpha duties and his businesses and I didn’t think Malcolm ever saw the inside of this room. The old Alpha creeped me out, to be honest, especially since he claimed he knew me in the dungeons. I knew he looked familiar but I couldn’t quite place where from. I couldn’t imagine that he would be a person you could forget easily.
I jumped on the treadmill and started it up on an intense course. Within a few minutes I was enjoying the burn from my muscles as I pushed them to their limits, the sound of The Score’s latest album blasting in my ears and my eyes closed as I imagined it was a forest I was running through and not some machine. I was so into it I didn’t even notice that Asher had come into the room until I looked up and saw him standing behind me in the mirror. The look in his eyes made me falter on the machine, and I quickly pressed the stop button before I landed flat on my face. I stepped off the machine carefully while keeping my eyes on him. He watched me as I leaned down to grab my water bottle, and a slow grin crept across his face as his eyes flickered to my rear end.
I took a drink from my water bottle and turned around. I was ready to say something sarcastic when he was suddenly right in front of me, barely inches away. I took an involuntary step back, and his grin widened as he mimicked me and took a step forward. He sniffed the air around me and growled.
“You smell amazing, my dear,” he said, backing me against the wall. “I could smell you from my office, and simply had to come and investigate.” He sniffed again before moving in close and sniffing at the crook of my neck. I shivered in response.
“I smell good,” I said doubtfully. “I am covered in sweat.”
“Mmmmm,” he purred in my ear before I felt his tongue as he licked up my neck. My breathing quickened as he growled into my neck again. “You taste nice too.” He started kissing down the side of my neck towards my marking spot. At the same time, he wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me into him. I closed my eyes as he pushed us both against the wall and ran his hands along my body, slipping into the top of my waistband at my hips. I couldn’t help myself as I bucked my hips into him, feeling his bulge rub against me. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew what was happening, what I was feeling was wrong. But I couldn’t seem to bring myself to care as Asher grabbed my ponytail and pulled my head back and to the side, exposing my throat to him. I felt him sniff again, and he chuckled.
“Now you really do smell amazing.” I knew it was my arousal that he was smelling as the room filled with it.
“I want you, Kaeleigh,” he whispered against my skin. “Tell me you’re mine.” He nibbled at my marking spot, and I let out a soft moan. “Please Kaeleigh, say it, say you are mine, and then I can set us both free.” He slipped his hand further into my joggers, and I gasped.
“I’m-” I was interrupted by the sound of a fake cough. I opened my eyes to see that Adam was leaning against the back wall, grinning at us. Asher growled, but let me push him off me.
“Get a good look, did you?” I snapped, and he laughed in response.
“Just doing my job, Luna.” I glared at him for the last part. I didn’t like being reminded that I had agreed to mate with Asher. I didn’t think Adam liked it much, either. But at least Asher had been true to his word and appointed Adam the Gamma rank.
Asher growled at him again, and Adam’s grin grew. I could tell there was some sort of tension between them. Now that my head was clearing up, I was feeling somewhat embarrassed about what he had seen, and how I had reacted to Asher’s advances. I glared at both of them before grabbing my stuff and pushing past Asher and storming out of the room.
I didn’t much like the idea of being watched all the time. I could tell from the way the guards at the exits straightened up when I walked by that I was always being watched. But Adam made it obvious, and that shattered my thinly veiled illusion that I was, in fact, here of my own choice. Although right at this point in time, I was rather glad that Adam had been there.
I walked into my room, closing the door behind me and headed for the bathroom. I rolled my eyes as I heard my room door open just as I was closing the bathroom door. Nope, privacy was also an illusion. Whether it was Asher, Adam, or even Cade, everyone just walked into the room like they owned the place.
I turned on the shower and climbed in, taking my time to enjoy the multiple hot jetstreams before washing my hair and body and getting out of the shower. I wrapped a towel around myself and walked out of the bathroom. Adam was sitting comfortably on my sofa, playing on his phone, and he didn’t even look up. I quickly dressed in the dressing room. Putting on my usual style black joggers with a purple loose fit top, I then went back into the bedroom and threw myself on the sofa in a huff.
Adam glanced over the phone at me, amused. “What’s up Luna?”
I rolled my eyes. “Stop calling me that,” I snapped again, and he chuckled. “What are you doing?” I asked, as his eyes returned to his phone.
“Nothing, and the answer is no,” he said, sighing and putting his phone away. I rolled my eyes again.
“Aw come on, I am dying without the internet.” I whined. Adam glared at me. “It’s not like I have anyone to call anyway,” I sighed. “Everyone I know probably hates me now, anyway.” Adam rolled his eyes.
“Don’t be such a drama queen,” he said. “Nobody hates you.” I slouched down on the sofa in a mood. I didn’t leave my friends and family to be locked up, isolated from the entire world.
Adam grabbed the remote and began looking through the movies. He finally settled on some movie about magicians who were criminals. I laid across the sofa, putting my legs across his lap, and we settled in to watch the movie. About half an hour into it, I remembered breakfast.
“Adam?” I asked, watching him
“Yeah?” He continued watching the movie.
“Who’s Dayna?” Adam’s eyes shot to my face before he returned them to the tv trying to make it look like he hadn’t reacted.
“Dunno beautiful,” he said. “It’s not an uncommon name.”
“Adam,” I glared at him.
“Do you mean the lass in the movie? I don’t think she’s called Dayna, she’s called-”
“Adam!” I shouted, and he stopped talking but looked uncomfortable.
“Listen Kaeleigh,” Adam said, pausing the movie, “Asher isn’t a nice guy, you know that, right?”
“Yeah, I’m fully aware of how much of a bastard he is,” I said, getting annoyed. “It’s not like I planned on being tied to him for fun, is it?” I was only here to save Chase. That was the only thing that mattered to me. “But what does that have to do with this Dayna?”
“Well, Asher likes sex,” Adam said, “and it’s not like he isn’t spoilt for choice, being Alpha.” He shrugged.
“Oh, so he sleeps with her,” I say, and Adam nodded.
“Among others, yeah, but Dayna has been around the longest,” he said, “and she is seriously dedicated to him, like almost stalker-like if he didn’t entertain it.”
“Ok, so she’s not exactly going to be impressed that he plans on mating with me then,” I sighed. “Should I expect another Adelaide then?” and Adam screwed his face up in disgust.
He went to speak when there was a knock at the door. We both looked over at it in surprise. I looked back at Adam, and he shrugged. He got and went to the door and opened it and then looked back at me.
“Guess now is the time to find out,” and stood to one side.
A woman walked in and looked around nervously. Her eyes landed on me, and she smiled weakly. She was dressed in a too short skirt with a top that was designed to push up her breasts and 4 inch stilettos. Her dirty blonde hair hung loose to her shoulders and her face seemed to be caked in a thick layer of make-up. She looked like someone who was exactly an Adelaide type, apart from her body language. She hunched forward like she was expecting a beating, and her eyes flitted around while she wrung her hands together with a clear aura of nervous tension around her.
“Hi… erm Luna, I’m Dayna,” she stuttered. “A-Alpha Asher said I should come and see you.”
