Chapter 42 EZEKIEL
EZEKIEL
The same fear which consumed me the day Dalia was stabbed by the witch is what I'm feeling right now. Dalia is not moving. Yes. She's breathing but she's not moving. And I can't help the rapid beating of my heart. I'm not someone to have these kinds of emotions, but meeting Dalia changed a lot in me even if I don't want to admit it.
“What's wrong with her, why is she not moving?” I ask no one in particular. I tap her cheek slightly. Her body is warm, but her body is still pale.
“Maybe something went wrong.” Elder Owen replies. There's panic in his voice and I don't like it. It's giving the vibe that something is actually wrong.
“What could have gone wrong? I didn't wake her up like you said.”
I stare at the blood on the floor. Why did she cough out blood? It's definitely because she's pushing too much and she's hurting in the process.
“Let's not panic, Kiel. She's breathing, that means she's alive and she will definitely wake up,” Lena says frantically.
I don't think they understand me. I won't be able to keep calm when Dalia is like this. Especially when I know what she's doing carries a lot of risk. This is the reason I was against this. She has not done this before.
I feel relieved the moment she moves in my arms. “She's moving.” I can't help the way my voice comes out. I'm so relieved as her skin color starts returning to normal.
After a few seconds, Dalia forcefully opens her eyes while panting. I hold her close to me, making sure she feels the heat of our body. I tell Lena to quickly grab her a cup of water, she may need it.
“Are you okay?" I ask. All worried. She doesn't say anything and just nods. She's still trying to calm her heavy breathing.
Lena returns with the cup of water. She takes it from her and gulps all the content down. She left out a heavy heave after drinking the water and Lena takes the cup back. I help her to sit down while she tries to gather her breathing. She looks out of breath.
“Are you feeling okay now, Dalia?” Nikolai asks.
“Yes.” She whispers. She takes another deep breath before speaking up. “I found her.”
Everyone's face lit up as Lena said, “You did?”
Dalia nods as she glances at her. I want to ask her how she is able to find Sarah and why she was thrashing while unconscious, but I don't think now is the right time to ask.
“Where is she? Is she in the pack?” Elder Owen asks.
“No.” Dalia shakes her head. “She's in one of the human cities. In a mental hospital. I saw only her, her daughter is not with her.”
“In a mental hospital?” Guess I'm not the only one shocked by the news. Why will the witch keep her there? Is Sarah suffering from a mental illness? Jerald didn't mention something like that.
“I don't know why she's there or how the witch got her there, but she's definitely not mentally okay,” Dalia says with her brows crunching.
“I think the witch did something to her,” Creigh says with a frown.
“That explains it, but what about her daughter? Where did she keep her?” Aaron chips in.
“The only way to find her daughter is repeating what I did just now.”
“And you are not going to do that,” I cut in with no room for argument. I don't care how stubborn Dalia is but I won't let her risk it again. Thankfully she doesn't argue. No one does.
“We need to get to Sarah, she might know where her daughter is,” Lena says.
“But she's mentally ill.”
“We can still get something out of her,” Lena answers and gives Dalia a little nod, I think to tell her well done.
“Since I know where the mental hospital is, I will definitely be one of the people that will go to Sarah and then I need like two or three people with me.”
“I will go with you. I have a gift to siren into someone's mind. I'm sure that's the only way we can get Sarah out of that hospital without raising an alarm,” Lena says.
“Are you a siren?” Dalia asks.
“My grandmother was. Just inherited part of her powers.”
Lena's grandmother is actually a siren who was mated to a lycan. Lena inherited it instead of her mother. It's not something she uses often, only when needed. And it doesn't work on anyone, especially high rank lycans and werewolves.
“I will go with you girls ”
“You are needed in the pack,” Dalia narrows her eyes at me.
“Nikolai will take care of the pack.” I glance at Nikolai who gives me a cocky smirk. I know he can handle the pack. But even if he can't— which is not possible— I won't let Dalia and Lena go without me.
…….
Later during the day, the three of us leave for the mental hospital in the human city. I'm the one driving. Lena sits beside me while Dalia sits in the back seat. I actually wanted Dalia to sit beside me but she chose the back seat. Guess she's still mad at me. And I deserve it. I actually need to apologize.
When we arrive at the mental hospital we alight the car and walk to the reception.
“Good evening, how can I help you?” The receptionist ask with a bright smile, specifically directed to me.
“We are here to see the patient in room 108,” Dalia replies.
“Please can I know who you guys are to her?”
Of course that's part of her work. I look at Lena as she positions herself in front of the receptionist and draws her attention. The moment the receptionist looks at her, she holds her gaze as she enchants her.
“Who brought the patient in room 108 to this hospital?”
Well, I think that's a valid question.
“A woman named Jane.”
Is that the name the witch gave them?
“Who did she say the patient is to her?”
“Her sister.”
“Did she bring a teenage girl with the patient?”
“Yes. She's in the teenager's ward.”
“What is wrong with the patient and the girl?”
“They are both suffering from schizophrenia.”
Well, that's a worse mental illness than I thought. Will we be able to get anything out of Sarah?
“We are here to take the patient with us. I want you to discharge them.”
“I can't do that without my superior authority.”
“You can do it.”
Eventually, Sarah and her daughter were discharged. Lena had to siren the Manger when he tried to interfere. Everything went well and now, Sarah and her daughter are with us in the car as we drive back to the pack. They are both sedated because they were throwing a fit.
“I wonder how the witch managed to turn them like this,” Dalia says.
“Well, I'm sure she did that to lock them up there. But I wonder why she chose a mental hospital. She could have chosen somewhere else to lock them up,” Lena states.
“How do we get them back to normal?” I ask the very first important question in my mind.
“Seeing the condition Sarah and her daughter are in, I don't think there's any way to get them back to normal. That means we won't get anything from Sarah,” Lena replies.
Is she trying to say that our efforts to get Sarah and her daughter out of there is a waste
