Chapter 32 EZEKIEL
EZEKIEL
It's been fourteen hours and Dalia has yet to wake up. Lena checked her. She said nothing was wrong. She's supposed to wake up by now. I'm beginning to get worried. I've not left her side since last night and I won't leave until she opens her eyes.
“Keil, she's going to be fine. You need to take your bath and eat. You haven't eaten anything since last night,” Lena says calmly. I know she's concerned about me, but the last thing in my mind right now are the things she wants me to do. I'm restless. I can only feel myself if Dalia opens her eyes.
I don't see any reason why she hasn't regained consciousness yet. She only has a minor cut in her abdomen which has been stitched up. Her heart beat is fine. Her blood pressure and every other vitals are fine. Lena has already found out her blood type and done the blood transfusion about ten hours ago. It was a good thing her blood type is available in the hospital.
“Everything is fine. Why is she not waking up?” I mutter, holding and squeezing her hand. I kiss her hand and bring it close to my face. I want her to feel my warmth and the spark. Maybe it will help her wake up.
“Maybe there's something we are missing. Whatever that thing is, it's definitely not a medical thing.” Lena replies as she checks on Dalia again.
“Did that witch do something to her?”
“That can only explain why she's not awake by now.”
I clench my fist in anger. I will tear that bitch apart once I set my eyes on her. She's yet to be found, but the search won't be over until she's found. I'm sure she's still in the pack. She couldn't have escaped.
“What could she have done to her? There's no sign of her being cursed by the witch.”
Lena takes a deep breath and sits on the chair next to me. “I'm guessing the problem is from the wound. Remember that it was hard to stop the bleeding even though the wound was not that deep. Whatever she was stabbed with must contain poisonous magic.”
“If that's the case, then how do we undo the magic?” I'm already panicking. I tighten my hold on Dalia's hand.
“We don't know the type of magic used. And if it's a black magic, we can't do anything.”
“What do you mean nothing can be done? What if she dies!” I snap. I don't want to raise my voice but I couldn't help. I just can't help the thought of losing Dalia.
“This is just an assumption, Kiel. She could be fine. There might be no magic. We can't sense magic unless it is being used around us. In her case it is different. We were not there when she was stabbed, neither do we know what she was stabbed with. So it might not be magic.”
I run my fingers through my hair and pull it in frustration. This is driving me crazy. Only a witch can undo a black magic. I really hope this is not a black magic.
‘Ezekiel. We have found the witch.’ Nikolai's voice sounds in my head.
I feel a tinge of bloody excitement in my heart. I will deal so much with that bitch. She made a very big mistake touching Dalia. No one hurts what is mine. I stand to leave, but I don't want to leave Dalia. What if I leave and she wakes up with no one by her side
‘We should stay by her side. We will deal with the witch later.’ Erik says. He has been restless just like me. We want nothing but to see Dalia awake. The only thing keeping us sane is her warmth.
‘But we need to deal with that bitch.’
‘Not now. Tell Nikolai to lock and chain her up, so she won't escape.’
‘Where did you find her?’ I ask Nikolai.
‘In an abandoned house close to where we found Dalia. Guess she hid the abandoned house with a spell which was why it was hard to find it. I believe the magic has worn off. She's weakened and all tied up. I think it's the work of Dalia.’
I look at Dalia. She actually handled the witch. But how did she get stabbed?
‘Take her to the dungeon and lock her up. Make sure you bound her with a chain.’ The chain we have in the dungeon is not ordinary. It can restrict someone's power and no amount of magic or power can break it. That's why Dalia couldn't escape then.
‘Ask her what she stabbed Dalia with. She's supposed to be conscious by now but she's not. And the wound is not even deep.’
“Are you mindlinking with someone?” Lena asks.
“Yes. Nikolai. They found the witch.”
‘The bitch asked me if Dalia is dead.’ Nikolai says.
I growl. I really want to go and tear that bitch apart, but I can't leave Dalia. I can't leave her side.
‘Tell her that I will make sure she experiences the most painful death.’
‘I know she will, but we need to get information from her first.’ Nikolai chimes in. There's silence for a while before he speaks up again. ‘She said that she stabbed Dalia with a knife forged with black magic. She may not survive it.’
I growl once again. The impact shook the room. But my anger is laced with fear.
“Calm down, Kiel.” Lena's voice sounds so distant. My head is spinning. The only thing running there is Nikolai's words. No, I can't lose Dalia. I will make that bitch undo the magic.
I stomp out of the hospital. I want to be by Dalia's side but staying by her side won't save her. I go straight to the dungeon where Nikolai has taken the witch. But when I get there, the witch is lying on the cold floor dead.
“What the fuck happened!” My voice shook the whole place.
“She killed herself. She said something like ‘the spell has worn out’. Before we know it she cut through the root that was wrapped around her, released one of her hands and slit her throat with her sharp nails. I guess the bitch will rather die than let us torture her and squeeze information out of her mouth.”
“No. She can't die! She needs to be alive to undo the magic on Dalia. If she dies, Dalia will die too!”
