Chapter 26 DALIA

Chapter 26 DALIA
DALIA

After breakfast. I go up to Leon's room. He refuses to eat or leave his room. I decided to try again by taking the food up to his room. He hasn't eaten anything since yesterday I told him about his mother. I knock on his door, waiting for his reply.

“Leon,” I call softly. I know he's awake. I hope he will open the door and eat even if it's a little food.

“Please, can you open the door and have some food. Don't starve yourself, please.” I bite my lower lips trying to contain my emotions. I'm not really an emotional person, but I hate seeing kids hurt. My heart is really breaking for Leon. This is why I really need to go back to the dungeon as soon as possible to lure the witch out.

I told Ezekiel about it during breakfast. He's still not sure about it, but there's no other choice. We can't find the witch, we can only make her come to us. I'm not scared of the witch. I'm confident that I can handle her.

He agreed with my plan but he said he won't let me be alone in the dungeon. He will section some guards around to secretly watch me, and he too will be around. I don't want him to do that. The witch might catch up on it. Witches are one of the wisest beings. I don't know how possible it will be to deceive her into believing that I'm the only one in the dungeon.

But I know that I won't make Ezekiel change his decision, so I didn't press on the matter. We will just have to be very careful to outsmart the witch. Ezekiel says that they will try to mask their scent as possible as they can. That will be good because I really want this plan to work.

I don't know how I will stop the war or how accepting the mate bond will help us figure it out, but capturing this witch will be a step ahead. Since it's my destiny, I know that I will definitely figure it out. One way or the other.

Stopping the war is figuring out how to lock the gate of hell permanently so the devils won't evacuate it. If we can stop them from escaping the gates of hell, it will save us from a lot of disasters. If they manage to escape, it will be hard sending them back and locking the gate. That's why we can't let them escape at all by finding a way to lock the gate permanently as soon as possible.

Now that they are working with the witches, it won't be long before they finally escape from the gates of hell, though some of the weaker demons are out. So catching this witch is really important to me and also a huge step for me in stopping the war.

I'm about to knock on the door once again when it clicks open. I smile as Leon looks up at me. I'm glad he opens the door but my smile fades seeing the state he's in. He doesn't look good at all. How much pain he must be going through.

“I brought you breakfast,” I say with a faint smile.

“Thank you.” He mumbles and takes the tray of food without an ounce of emotion on his face. Well, at least he didn't reject the food. He's about to close the door but I stop him.

“I know how hard it is for you, but if you think that you can talk about it, I'm here for you,” I say with an assuring smile.

He nods and doesn't say anything.

“After eating, can we talk?” He still doesn't say anything. “It's about your mother. I would like to know some things. It might help us know how the witch was able to kill her and take her form.”

Seeing that it's about his mother, he looks interested and ready to entertain me. Ezekiel mentioned that he will speak to him about it, but I want to do it myself. His conversation with Ezekiel will look interrogative than his conversation with me. I want it to be like he's letting me know what bothers him. I don't want him to feel like we are putting pressure on him.

“If you can catch the witch, then I'm ready to answer any question.” He mutters.

“It might help.” I reply “I promise to catch the witch and make her pay for what she did.”

He opens the door fully for me and walks back in. I guess he's letting me in. I walk in and take a seat. He drops his food on the table and sits opposite me.

“I'm ready, you can ask your questions.” I watch him take a breath. He's trying…… he's really trying. How's he coping? I really hope he will let me in. I want to console him.

“Eat your food first. You haven't eaten since yesterday. You need energy to answer my question.”

“I don't want to eat. No…. I mean, I don't think I will be able to eat if nothing is done about what happened to my mother.” he's voice is stiff. But I know he's sad, he's really sad.

“Something will definitely be done about it.” I sigh. I wish I could take away his pain. I want him to eat but I know that I can’t force him if he doesn't want to eat. So I jumped into asking him some questions.

“Has your mother ever left the pack for anything in the past three weeks? Maybe work or something else?” I ask.

He thinks for a while before replying. “Yes. But not for work. My mother works here in the pack. I asked her, and she said there's something she's handling in dark valley pack.

“Dark valley park?”

Isn't that Tudor's pack? I knew about him when I was learning about the packs under Ezekiel's reign. He's one of the strongest Alphas who has taken his pack, dark valley, to greater height. But what business does Mrs Adams have with his pack?

“Yes. But for the past two weeks she hasn't left the pack.”

“Because she's not the one. It's the witch.”

Ezekiel was right. The witch killed Mrs Adams outside the pack.

“My mother is a good person. I don't know why it should be her….. why did the witch kill her? She's a kind hearted person. She can't even hurt a fly.” I watch him bite his lips as he tries to suppress his tears. “Promise me that you will avenge my mother's death because she doesn't deserve to die. She didn't do anything wrong. It was already hard for her to live after my father's death, but she continued to stay strong because of me. She deserves to live.”

I quickly stand and go over to him and hug him. He's not crying, but I know he's breaking inside. He didn't push me away. He hugs me back. I hold him, rubbing his back soothingly.

“I promise you Leon. I promise you.” I mutter, trying not to cry. “And I also promise you that I will take care of you. I will treat you like my junior brother, and I will always protect you. You need to eat and stay healthy. I don't want anything to happen to you….. please.”
