Chapter 22 DALIA
DALIA
The witch is here, I can sense it. I move, my eyes searching the whole vicinity.
“What's wrong?” Dennis asks. I don't answer him. My main focus is to find that bitch. But I know it definitely won't be easy. She definitely did not come here in Mrs. Adams' form.
Still I can find her, if I try hard. Anyone I look at and sense the energy stronger from them is definitely her. So I continue looking round the hospital. I can still feel the energy but I'm not seeing the source.
I abruptly stop as a thought flashes through my mind. What will make her come into this hospital? She will definitely want to finish up what she started. Witches hate it when their targets are rescued from them. She cursed Leon. She knows the curse has been removed, and she's mad about it. She wants Leon dead…. Since the curse has been removed. She's here to kill him herself.
With this realization in my mind, I rush towards Leon's ward. Although there are guards there, I still don't want to risk it. Dennis is running behind me. I don't even know that he has been following me.
When I arrive at Leon's ward, I go in to check on him. He's still sleeping and he's breathing fine. Nothing has happened to him. I check again to make sure he's alright. But then I no longer feel that energy. I step outside Leon's room and truly the witch is gone. I can't feel the energy again.
What the hell….. why then did she come here if she didn't plan to kill Leon. I clench my fist…. That bitch is toying with us.
I don't realize that I'm clenching my fist so hard until Dennis grabs it. “You are hurting yourself Dalia.”
He sounds panicked. I look down at my hand and realize why he is. My palm is bleeding. Apparently I've dug my fake sharp finger nails into my palm. Although they are not that long, they are sharp. That's how I love my fake nails to be.
“Come here.” He moves me to sit while he rushes and gets a kit. Apparently, there's one in Leon's room. I kept it there, in case I needed it. I don't pray for Leon to hurt himself, but that boy didn't cry when I told him his mother was dead. I thought he might want to ease his pain through another way that's not crying.
“You really don't have to be so worried. This is just a scratch,” I say with a forced smile. I want to be convincing. But seriously, it's not painful. Even though I don't heal as fast as werewolves and lycan, I know this small wound will heal very soon.
Dennis doesn't say anything and continues to clean the blood. Looking at him now, I can't help but wonder. Did I imagine the look he gave me the first day we met? No, I don't think so.
So what changed? Could it be because I saved Leon? Maybe he has seen that I'm not a bad person.
“Who were you looking for?” He asks as he applies ointment on the wound.
He touches me so gently, but unfortunately his touch is not making me feel the way Ezekiel's touch does. I mean he's a handsome man. Tall, tan skin, bright brown eyes, and a black hair which he pulls into a small ponytail while some strands fall in front of his head.
I didn't realize I was staring at him and checking him out until he clears his throat. I smile sheepishly. I'm such a sucker for handsome men.
He asked me a question, right? Oh right, good thing I haven't forgotten what he asked. “I sensed the witch. I don't know if I was wrong. But I don't think so, that energy was very strong to be false.”
“I didn't sense any energy.”
“I'm not surprised. The witch is secretive. That's why she has survived in this pack for the past two weeks. Unfortunately for her, she can't bypass me.”
He nods.
There's silence for a while. Dennis breaks it. “Thanks for saving Leon. I can't believe that I didn't notice that something was wrong.”
“You are welcome. And it's not your fault that you didn't notice. Not everyone can notice a witch's curse anyway.” I smile as I look into his brown eyes. He has such beautiful eyes, but there's something about Ezekiel's eyes. Those dark green pairs of eyes that you hardly see any emotion from. I groan internally. Why the fuck am I comparing Dennis to Ezekiel.
I heard a very high throat clearing. I look up as my eyes fall on those pairs of dark green eyes. They look darker now. He's glaring at Dennis who holds my hand trying to place plaster on my wound. Noticing his presence, Dennis quickly stands and acknowledges him.
He said that he doesn't want people to know that I'm his mate, but he's being so damn open with it. Although he didn't growl at Dennis or lunge at him, the way he's looking at him is enough to mark his territory.
I take over from Dennis to press the plaster on my wound. I gave him a sweet smile afterwards. “Thank you.”
“You are welcome,” he says as he returns the smile. He packs up the kit and bows slightly at Ezekiel before excusing himself. I can see that Ezekiel is fighting with his lycan. He looks so angry and jealous right now.
Geez…. His lycan should calm down. I know that he's an Alpha and they are all possessive but it's not like I was kissing or fucking Dennis.
“What are you doing here?” I ask, ignoring the seething anger clear on his face.
He looks at my hand. “How did you get hurt?”
“I couldn't control my anger so I hurt myself.” I reply nonchalantly.
“Why were you angry?”
“Because of a lot if thing.” I reply and stand. “ I had a busy day today, Alpha. I need to rest.”
I sound more sarcastic with the ‘Alpha’
I try to walk away but he draws me back. “We all had a busy day. Why did you allow Dennis to treat your wound? I don't like another man touching what's mine.” he growls. Gosh! He can't control his anger and jealousy.
“A point of correction, big bad Alpha. I am not yours. I am Dalia, the daughter of the goddess and I belong to no one,” I fiercely say.
“Too bad, you are mine and you can't change it,” he says with a smirk. That's the only expression he can give.
“You don't even want me.”
“That doesn't mean that you are not still mine.” He lean close to me, his breath invading my senses. “If you're going to stay in my pack, little monster. You should know that you belong to me.”
I gulp down, trying to ignore the way his deep voice sends pleasure down to my core.
