Chapter 20 EZEKIEL
EZEKIEL
After waiting outside for over some minutes, Dalia steps outside looking dejected. Her eyes are red. Has she been crying?
“What's it?” I try so hard to restrain myself from pulling her into my arms.
“We must find that bitch. She must pay.” She mutters. I can feel the pain in her voice. “But there's a problem.”
I raise my brows at her. “The witch knows that we are looking for her so she's definitely no longer in Mrs. Adams form.”
She's right. Why didn't we think about that? Putting the face of Mrs. Adams as a wanted person is of no use. If she has taken another person's form that means it will be hard to find her.
“This is bad. It will be hard to find her in this case,” Nikolai says.
No….. we need to find her as soon as possible before she does something worse. That bitch is definitely here for a mission. Dalia told me the boy was abused by that bitch. I even saw the bruises on his body. The day Dalia took out the curse, I was so eager to catch the witch that I didn't look carefully at the boy. Seeing him now, I realize how much he must have suffered
“How long has she been impersonating Mrs. Adams?” Craig asks. Guess he's thinking the same thing as me.
“Two weeks. She also abused Leon. She made the poor boy confused and scared. He said his mother was never like that.” Dalia's voice cracks. She's trying to hold back her tears. Meeting her as a very stubborn person. I didn't know she had this soft side. “The poor boy couldn't even cry when I told him that his mother was dead.”
Fuck!
I quickly pull her into my arms as she let the tears fall. I don't care about the stupid voice telling me not to. But seeing her in this vulnerable state, it breaks something in me. She has a very kind heart. She feels the pain of others. She's the one that talked to the boy. She must have seen the pain in him. This makes me wanna find that witch fast and make her pay.
“Could it be that the witch was the one controlling those creatures? If that's the case, she's definitely here to kill Dalia.” Creigh muse.
I growl as I hold Dalia tighter as if I want her to disappear into my body.
Is that bitch the one that sent me that message?
This is one more reason I need to find her as soon as possible. The thought of her wandering freely in my pack brews rage in me.
Dalia's low whimper makes me realize that I'm still hugging her so tight. I quickly release her before I crush her. I always forget how tiny she is because of how mighty she always acts.
“I think I have a way to find the witch,” she says, drawing our attention. “She wants me. I'm sure she came to your pack knowing that I will eventually come. She has been waiting for me. Since her first plan didn't work, she will definitely take another one. She will be caught in her own web.”
“What do you plan to do?” Nikolai asks. She looks around, making sure we are the only one in sight.
“Take me back to the dungeon,” she whispers, looking at me.
I didn't know when I growl. The thought of her going back there brings fear to me. I nearly lost her there.
“You are not going there,” I say with a tone of finality. I caught Nikolai smirking. I know I'm acting all possessive right now for someone that doesn't want Dalia, but I don't care.
“I will be fine, Ezekiel. I can definitely take care of myself. This is the only way to catch that bitch, and we shouldn't sleep on it. She will come back to finish what she started. She knows we are looking for her so she has no time. She will definitely make a reckless move, and that's coming to kill me herself.”
“And you want to take her down yourself?” I ask. I sure won't let her do this alone.
“Yes. I can take her down alone. I've studied witches for years, so I know how to handle one.”
“I won't let you do it alone. And please don't argue with me because I won't change my mind.”
“If she notices that I'm not alone, she won't come.”
“Then we will make her think you are alone,” I say with no room for debate. She sighs and doesn't argue.
“You will tell the council about what's going on, right, especially the war?” She asks.
“Yes. I will tell them about you, but not what you are to me.” I know I am being an asshole right now but I don't care. She still needs to know that I don't want her.
“Seriously, Ezekiel. You won't tell them, but you are here panicking that she's going to fight a witch alone and acting all possessive,” Nikolai says with a scoff.
“Well if that's what you want, I don't care. As long as you cooperate and we stop this war together. Maybe we don't need to accept the mate bond to stop the war as my mother said. As far as we work together. We can still figure out how to stop it,” she says flatly. “I have to go now. I still have things to do.”
“What thing?”
“You don't need to know. Big bad Alpha.” She answers coldly. Fuck she's angry and it's all my fault. Well I shouldn't care. Right?
“We still have catch up to do, Dalia. I will show you round the pack,” Nikolai beams.
“Of course. I'm sure I will enjoy touring the pack,” she replies with a smile before walking away.
I ignore the tug in my heart. I hate that I can't get that smile from her, but Nikolai can easily pull it out. I know that Nikolai is only messing with me but I really don't want to get jealous of my best friend.
“You have an amazing mate, Ezekiel. I don't know why you are being an asshole,” Nikolai says as we walk out of the hospital.
“Is that why you are getting on my nerves?”
He shrugs. “She's beautiful and lovely. What will I gain if I don't flirt with such a beauty like her.”
I glare at him, but he laughs walking ahead. Creigh shakes his head like he's so done with us. I wish Nikolai is more like him. Quiet and conserved. Well, it's not like I don't like my best friend the way he is.
I had earlier announced the council meeting. We have thirty minutes before the meeting. I want to know what Dalia said that she wants to take care of. She didn't leave the hospital. I mind-link Jerald and ask him. He said she's trying to remove the poison from the wounds of those warriors who got hurt from the attack the other day.
She's so stubborn. I told her not to overuse her power. Taking out those poison will be a whole lot of work. I notice that she doesn't like seeing people in pain, so I'm sure she won't listen even if I try to stop her.
‘She will make a great Luna,’ Erik says. He has been ignoring me. He will only talk when he feels like it.
I know she will, if only she's not Selene’s daughter.
