Chapter 18 DALIA
DALIA
It took me five hours to stitch up the wounds of those warriors. I find out there are five more in the other ward. There are also patients who are poorly treated. These ones don't have poison in them, so what could be the problem? Maybe it's because he's getting old. Well, he needs to retire so a more valiant doctor can take over.
When I was done, I checked on the boy. He's doing fine. I don't want to leave him in the care of Jerald, but there's nothing I can do. He's the doctor in charge here.
Ezekiel left a few hours ago, I'm surprised to see that he came back.
“I know that the distance from the hospital to the pack house is not far, but I know you are exhausted and can't walk it. So I brought the car,” he says, motioning me to the car.
I feel relieved. I've been thinking of how to walk back to the pack house because I feel so weak and I'm glad he's so thoughtful to bring a car. I enter the car, and I feel the heaviness of my eyelids.
“Do you have any idea on how to take the poison out from the wounds?” Ezekiel asks.
“Yes. I can use my power.” I mumbles.
“I won't allow that. You've used your powers enough. It's draining you, I can see it.”
“I'm stronger than you think.” I reply. “If I don't take the poison out, it can kill the warriors. War is coming and we can't afford to lose warriors.”
He is quiet for a while before speaking up again. “I still can't allow it. We will find a way to take the poison out. I know you are strong, but you should know that even strong men have limits they can push their strength.”
I sighed. “You know for someone that says he doesn't want me, you worry too much.”
“Don't flatter yourself, it's not something I can control, and my lycan is not making it less difficult. No matter what happens, I won't accept you as my mate, and you are still going to leave,” He says coldly.
“Asshole.” I mutter under my breath as I roll my eyes. I know he heard me, but he chose not to say anything.
“Well, you shouldn't flatter yourself either because I also don't want you. I'm here because of the war, and since it's my destiny to stop, there's nothing you will do that will make me leave,” I flatly say. “This is not about us anymore, this is about innocent lives that will be lost if this war happens. Stopping this war is not something you can do by yourself. You need my help. That's how fate writes it.”
He pulls in front of the pack house and turns to me. “We can work together to stop this war, but don't expect anything from me. I will not accept you nor this bond.”
“But you know it says that you need to accept the mate bond in order for us to figure out this shit.”
“Listen little monster, I will never accept this bond. I will not give your mother that gratification,” he says coldly.
“So this is about my mother.” I scoff. “I don't care what your issues with her are, but can you just drop it off and think about your people? Stop wallowing in your pride.”
“I don't need you or your mother to protect my people. I don't want you, so leave.”
“Well, we will see how long you will fight the bond.” I lean close, making sure he can feel my breath on him. “You can't deny it, big bad Alpha. You want me more than anything in this world.”
I smirk seeing the lust and desire in his eyes. He's really doing a good job in fighting it off.
“Good night,” I say seductively before climbing down from the car.
Fuck. I feel so weak. Why did I even argue with him and make it worse? I didn't even have the chance to ask him if the witch was caught. Or tell him that Jerald has to be dismissed and a more prominent doctor should be employed. He's already old and he's doing more damage than good in that hospital.
I manage to pull myself to the guest room and take a warm shower. Well, he shows me the guest room because I don't know my way here. I was locked up in a room when I woke up, and I only escaped by teleporting.
After taking my bath, I put on simple clothes. He sent an Omega this morning to bring some clothes and toiletries for me. On a serious note he's not even acting like someone that wants me gone from here.
…..
I wake up feeling stronger, but hungry. I only ate some snacks last night at the hospital and now I feel hungry. I step down from the bed and walk to the bathroom as I freshen up and walk downstairs. This pack house looks big, and I would really like to tour it.
A very sweet aroma welcomes me the moment I climb down the stairs and I follow it to the dinning.
“HI beautiful!” Nikolai beams as he waves at me to join them. He's having breakfast with Nikolai and one other guy who I don't seem to recognize. I smile as I walk up to them.
“Good morning,” I greet.
“Good morning, how are you feeling today?” He asks with a bright smile.
“Great but hungry.” I reply as I rub my stomach dramatically.
“There's a lot of delicacies on this table. Sit down and join us.”
“Go back to your room. Your breakfast will be served there.” Ezekiel has to be Ezekiel and ruin the mood.
“I won't let you lock me up in that room again.” I snaps as I sat down next to Nikolai. Well, I don't think he plans to. I didn't see those guards when I stepped out of the room.
“If he locks you up, I'm sure you will escape again. You are such a badass. I still can't believe you took down more than ten of those fuckers when you were all weak and chained,” Nikolai says with a glint in his eyes. I blushed.
“If you are here to eat, then shut the fuck up and eat,” Ezekiel snaps.
“I wasn't talking,” I glares at him.
“He's just being a little bit jealous,” Nikolai whispers in my ear. I smile as I look at Ezekiel.
If stone cold glare can kill, Nikolai will be dead by now.
