Chapter 87 Celeste

Chapter 87 Celeste
Celeste's POV

My wolf was badly injured. That was a given. We had expected that.

There was no way my wolf could escape the claws, bites, and punches of Alpha Eiden's wolf.

Alpha Arlo was strong not only because he was a male wolf. His status as Alpha made him powerful, even though he rarely fought enemies.

I was also an Alpha, but my strength and that of my wolf cannot compare to Alpha Eiden's and his wolf's because we were females, trained only four times a week, and never fought enemies—rogue assassins have no enemies.

Rogue assassins don't rely on their wolves. Therefore, it was a rare sight to see wolves training in our base.

At least my wolf didn't suffer any muscle injuries after fighting Alpha Eiden's wolf.

We were grateful that our regeneration was working so quickly, and we secretly hoped Alpha Eiden and his wolf wouldn't wonder why this happened.

“I’m so glad my wolf didn’t seriously injure yours,” Alpha Eiden said again. He was genuinely worried that my wolf would be badly damaged.

“I trust your wolf, so I’m not worried.” I smiled broadly.

“I trust my wolf, too.” I touched my chest. “Oh, one thing that gives us confidence.”

I raised my index finger in the air. “Our bodies regenerate incredibly fast, healing all our wounds.”

“That’s an incredible gift,” Alpha Eiden said with a nod, gratitude shining in his eyes.

"But even so, your wolf shouldn't fight carelessly, especially with a male wolf, because not all male wolves have a conscience and can distinguish between males and females."

Alpha Eiden gave me advice reflecting his concern for my wolf and told me that his wolf would never harm a female.

"Thank you for the advice," I said.

“You too.” I blinked and jumped slightly in surprise when Alpha Eiden looked at me intently. “You have to take good care of yourself. Don’t let yourself get hurt.”

I was stunned to hear him. He was also giving me advice. Suddenly, my heart was pounding.

Moon Goddess. Please tell me I was not misunderstanding my feelings. I was just glad someone cared about me.

“Thank you so much for reminding me.” I smiled so wide that my eyes narrowed and my head tilted slightly.

“I have never and will never let my skin get hurt because I don't like blood.” I chuckled, my head lowered for a moment. His ocean-blue eyes kept staring at me.

"I'm glad you're not the type to cut yourself." Alpha Eiden smiled.

I lied to him, saying my rapid body regeneration was a special gift, but it was the most plausible excuse I could come up with. Many civilians possessed that same ability.

The sun was close to setting, but the sky stayed bright beneath the clouds, stripped of its orange hues—a sign that winter would arrive soon.

That afternoon, we left the house.

My two sons and I got into our car and left the housing complex first. We didn't need to wait at the rogue clan's border office because we were registered members of the Brown Forest Group.

Alpha Eiden informed me in a message that he was on his way to the werewolf clan.

“Alpha Eiden can play basketball now.” Levi broke the silence. He was talking while drawing. Liam, meanwhile, was staring out the window.

"He can play basketball. He lost to you two that time because the hoop was too short. So he had trouble throwing the basketball while squatting," I explained.

“So he learned to shoot with a short hoop so he could beat me?” Levi tilted his head, his eyebrows knitted together.

“Yeah, you’re right.” I stroked his hair.

“But Alpha Eiden still can’t play the Rubik’s Cube.” Liam grinned evilly. “I don’t think he’ll be able to beat me.”

“Maybe he’s busy learning to play with a Rubik’s Cube now,” I said, not intending to defend Alpha Eiden. I just wanted to remind Liam not to lower his guard.

“I won’t let him win.” Liam clenched his fists. He was determined not to hand over the trophy to Alpha Eiden.

We reached the base half an hour later. Liam and Levi were remarkably smart; they never once brought up my wolf training with Alpha Eiden during the ride.

The driver was a warrior. He could have reported our conversation to the group's higher-ups, because those guys could never relax whenever my two sons and I were outside the base.

“Hi, Alpha, Liam, Levi.” Beta Dylan greeted us with a cheerful smile.

“Hi, Beta,” Liam and Levi replied in unison.

I simply smiled back.

Since my wolf training with Alpha Eiden's wolf, I've gotten bolder towards Beta Dylan, but I have to hold back because the one who's getting stronger is only Alea.

Our plan couldn’t fail. Beta Dylan and his wolf had to accept my wolf duel.

Alea would ensure victory. It was the only way to stop Beta Dylan’s madness.

“How’s your new home?” Beta Dylan placed the documents on my desk. “Is it comfortable?”

“Yes, we’re comfortable,” I replied casually, turning on my laptop.

“I don’t call it the house of the four of you because Levi won’t be part of the family you’ll build with Alpha Eiden.” Beta Dylan shook his head vigorously.

Then he realized he'd misspoken. "Damn it. You three will never be a family." He slammed his fist on the table, his jaw clenched. "I'll lock you up in the headquarters! All our members will definitely approve of me being with you."

I stared at him expressionlessly. Seriously, I was so fed up with him. I wanted to skip ahead to the day my wolf dueled his wolf.

I didn't touch my laptop, choosing to lean back after Beta Dylan left.

I pondered. I didn't understand why we were like this.

Had I known he loved me, by the Moon Goddess, I would have refused the Alpha position without hesitation.

If Benedict had told me, I wouldn't have been stuck in this unpleasant situation.

I realized there was another possibility. If I also loved Beta Dylan, I wouldn't be bothered by his behavior.

How could I have feelings for him if I kept remembering him as my late second mate's younger brother?

‘Honestly, I would curse you if you loved him,’ my wolf said, shaking her head.

For now, I wasn't thinking about men. Benedict was still in my heart. Even if I wanted to open my heart again, it wouldn't be Beta Dylan.

“Hey, Mommy.”

“Hey, my dear boy.” I entered Liam’s room. He had put his backpack on the desk and was getting ready for bed. Levi was already asleep in the next room.

“Do you want me to read you a book?” I offered, sitting on the edge of the bed.

“Yes, please.” Liam nodded. He was the only one who still liked being read to before bed.

I sat next to him and read to him the book I had read a thousand times.

"Mommy, why is Alea training with Alpha Arlo?" Liam asked, already lying down as he tugged the blanket up to his neck.

"Alea wants to be strong." I didn't change my answer. "Don't tell anyone. This is a secret between the four of us." I put my index finger to my lips.

Liam nodded obediently.

I told Levi the same thing. I trusted my two sons to keep my secret.

I kissed Liam's cheek. "Sweet dreams, my dear sweet boy."

No one at this base was willing to teach me martial arts.

My wolf trained with Delta Giana every Sunday for an hour.

They didn't want me and my wolf to be strong so we could rely on them.

I couldn't wait to surprise them all.
