Chapter 57 Celeste

Chapter 57 Celeste
Celeste's POV

I was deeply shocked when I heard from Alpha Eiden that a stranger had approached Liam. David chased after the man, who suddenly took off at full speed as if his task was already done.

David informed me via mind link that he was chasing the strange, whom he believed to be a member of a werewolf-hating organization.

David joined the other agents who had been monitoring Liam from their hiding places. They swore to me that they would bring him to our headquarters.

I dropped my work at once, my only thought being to grab Levi, who was sitting on the porch with Beta Dylan, and head straight to Liam’s kindergarten.

Beta Dylan looked baffled by my panic. Before he could question me, he received a report from the agents pursuing the stranger alongside David. After that, he warned us to be cautious.

I was relieved to see that Liam was okay. He showed me with a big smile that his stomach was full thanks to Alpha Eiden's homemade chicken sandwich.

I still couldn't rest easy until that bastard was caught. David and the agents had to get them thrown into our prison.

I briefly considered terrorizing the werewolf-hating organization to force them to stop targeting Liam, but I couldn’t risk letting them find out that I was a rogue assassin Alpha.

"I'm fine, Mommy." Liam patted the back of my hand, reassuring me.

I stroked his light blonde hair, feeling anxious. Liam didn't have any injuries, but this was the first time something like this had happened to him.

"That man just asked me to talk, but I didn't respond at all," Liam said with a frightened expression, but I let him tell me what happened.

“He only grabbed my hand.” Liam’s right hand trembled for a moment, remembering the terrifying feeling he had when the strange man grabbed his hand.

Liam turned his head to his right, locking eyes with Alpha Eiden for a few seconds. He looked down and said shyly, “Alpha Eiden grabbed the man’s shoulder and asked who he was and what business he had with me.”

I made eye contact with Alpha Eiden. A wide smile spread across my face. I was immensely grateful he had been there with Liam before that man had the chance to do anything to him.

“The man ran away, and David immediately chased after him.” Liam continued his story. His hands were no longer shaking. He took a deep breath to regain his composure.

“Thank you so much, Alpha Eiden,” Liam said, gripping the strap of his backpack. He couldn’t find the words to describe what Alpha Eiden had done to him an hour ago.

“Thank you for the chicken sandwich, too. It was delicious. I loved it.” He smiled faintly, his face flushed. He was amazing; he had pushed the limits of his courage.

A gentle breeze passed between us, and the rustling leaves sounded like a beautiful melody filling the silence.

Alpha Eiden took a long time to recover from his shock. He hadn't expected Liam to say such things to him. He still thought we were upset with him for the carelessness of the warriors guarding his mansion.

"I'm so happy to make food for you all," Alpha Eiden said enthusiastically. "I'll keep learning how to make sandwiches for you guys." He smiled shyly.

I smiled. Liam showed off his smile too.

“I’m glad you’re okay.” Alpha Eiden looked at Liam with relief.

“I was so worried about what would have happened if I hadn't gotten to you sooner, and I deeply regret letting that man flee. I should have thrown him to the ground.” Alpha Eiden growled in annoyance, his fists clenched tightly. “I'm sorry.”

“No. Don’t be sorry. You did nothing wrong.” I quickly told Alpha Eiden. “I’m so grateful you were there. I can't imagine what it would be like if it were just David.”

David wouldn't have been able to chase the stranger if Alpha Eiden hadn't accompanied Liam. He was one of the agents investigating the werewolf-hating organization. He must have been thrilled that the man had appeared before Liam.

“Thank you so much, Alpha Eiden,” I said sincerely.

Alpha Eiden smiled faintly, barely perceptible. He should stop cursing himself for not taking the opportunity to catch the damn man with his hands.

"Honestly, I don't think my enemies sent the man, because we've never kidnapped or held each other hostage," Alpha Eiden said.

"Liam said the werewolf-hating organization was after him." Alpha Eiden looked at Liam and me with confusion and curiosity. "By the Moon Goddess, I never knew about them."

I stroked Liam's hair and smiled at him. He was worried because he had shared the information with Alpha Eiden without my consent.

“They're rogues. They always target werewolves who live in rogue clans,” I explained to Alpha Eiden.

“Have they captured many werewolves? And what do they do with them?” Alpha Eiden sat up straight, his fists clenched tightly.

“They've captured many werewolves.” I nodded. “The people in the organization just interrogated them about why they stayed in the rogue clan, and some of them became afraid of staying here and didn't want to come back again.”

Alpha Eiden stared at Liam anxiously, his jaw clenched. I didn't know what he was planning or whether he was regretting having just learned about the organization.

"Are they an independent organization?" Alpha Eiden asked.

"Yes." I knew what he meant. "There's no rogue Alpha behind that organization," I said confidently, as my agents had been investigating the organization for a year.

"Since when have they been targeting Liam?"

"Since Liam went to that kindergarten." It was time to tell Alpha Eiden. "They're curious about why Liam is a werewolf while Benedict, Levi, and I are rogues."

Alpha Eiden nodded in understanding, his eyes widening when I said, “They suspect you. They believe you’re wearing a scent-concealing perfume.”

“Moon Goddess.” Alpha Eiden rubbed his face roughly, breathing heavily. “I regret not sending my warrior spies to monitor Liam.”

“No. You mustn’t regret that,” I told him seriously. “We don’t want the rogues to think you’re a dangerous werewolf Alpha.”

Liam and Levi agreed with me.

"If you're considered evil by the rogues, you can no longer freely come to the rogue clan." Liam was surprised that he could say something that had only been in his head.

Alpha Eiden smiled with tears of joy. Liam slowly showed he was learning to accept him as his biological father.

Alpha Eiden didn’t know that David and my other agents were watching over and protecting Liam in their own ways. Liam was safe, but we couldn’t deny that misfortune and bad luck were things we could never entirely fight.

That day, one of the members of the werewolf-hating organization showed himself in front of Liam and didn't care about the people around Liam.

They indirectly warned Alpha Eiden and me that they could take Liam from us anytime they wanted without fear.

That night, I slept with Liam and Levi in my room. Liam acted like the man in the black leather jacket wouldn't haunt his thoughts, but I could tell he was scared.

'I'll chop them up if you let me,' my wolf said. I wasn't allowed to administer punishments to prisoners with my hands; I could only determine their sentences.

No. I would be against that rule. That man had scared Liam.
