Chapter 44 Celeste

Chapter 44 Celeste
Celeste's POV

Just like the first time we stayed at Alpha Eiden's mansion, I didn't join them in the family room.

I sat in the main living room. I had nothing else to do but play on my phone and chat with Beta Dylan via mind link.

After discovering that a hidden door to the garage was tucked behind the cabinet of antique glasses, I couldn’t help but glance at it, wondering why it had been hidden.

Of course, I also kept an eye on the entrance, even though I knew two warriors were guarding it.

Honestly, I feel like this mansion is no longer safe for my two sons and me since Alpha Jackson found out about us, even though he was wrong about my past relationship with Alpha Eiden and that my two sons are Alpha Eiden's children.

Alpha Eiden had warriors posted all around his house, while my agents watched from a distance, but somehow they were late in noticing two of Alpha Jackson’s spy warriors.

Those two warrior spies even managed to take pictures of my two sons and me!

Whoa, they're amazing.

If I were Alpha Jackson, I would ask Alpha Eiden to release those two spy warriors. I wouldn't let them be tortured after getting such valuable information, and no one knows about it yet.

Yeah, my thoughts differ from Alpha Jackson's. Maybe he wasn't so satisfied with those unclear photos.

I leaned back, munching on an apple. The head omega in this mansion loved to give me fruit.

'Why does Alpha Eiden look so unconcerned about Alpha Jackson knowing his deepest secret?' I asked Alea.

'I don’t know.' My wolf shrugged. 'I can’t read his mind.'

'He must know, right?'

'He’d be stupid not to know,' my wolf snorted. 'Can’t his warriors interrogate prisoners properly? Pathetic.'

'You’re right.' I nodded. 'If they don’t want to talk to his warriors, he can step in and force them to talk.'

'You know that very well,' my wolf said. 'So stop thinking he knows nothing about this.'

I nodded.

So Alpha Eiden pretended nothing had happened. Whether it was because he didn't want us to worry, he felt guilty, he was ashamed of us, or he was afraid we wouldn't want to stay at his house anymore, I don't know.

Liam slowly began to open up to his biological father. He asked him a lot of questions, even if it was just to satisfy his curiosity.

'I'm starting to dislike him more and more,' my wolf said irritably. 'He should apologize to you. What's so hard about telling you? You deserve to know about the recklessness of his warriors.'

My wolf was absolutely right.

I was extremely annoyed that I had to restrain myself from telling Alpha Eiden that I already knew what he was hiding from me and my two sons.

This is the risk I have to bear for hiding my true identity and pretending to be an ignorant civilian.

I put my phone in my pocket when I heard no noise in the playroom for more than ten minutes.

I walked over to the room to see what they were doing. Did they find a game that required them to be quiet?

I was surprised to find them sleeping. Liam and Levi always nap, but I didn't expect Alpha Eiden to join them.

My heart warmed to see Alpha Eiden sleeping between Liam and Levi. Toys were scattered around them.

I checked to make sure the sheepskin rug was soft and comfortable enough and wouldn’t leave their bodies sore.

Liam and Levi were so exhausted and sleepy that they couldn't go to their bedroom to sleep.

They were sleeping soundly. I wouldn't wake them.

The head omega smiled at me. She already knew they were sleeping in there.

I went back to the living room and played on my phone.

I couldn't work in this house. There were surveillance cameras everywhere, though I was sure they wouldn't bother to see what I was doing on my laptop.

An hour later, Alpha Eiden, Liam, and Levi woke up from their nap. They told me they had fallen asleep, giggling. It was hilarious how embarrassed they were that I had caught them.

We watched an animation in the family room because Alpha Eiden couldn't take us to the movie theater.

As the sky turned orange and we finished watching television, Alpha Eiden announced that our dinner would be BBQ. We happily headed out to his backyard.

“BBQ!” Levi exclaimed happily, pointing toward the grill and the raw beef laid out nearby.

"You two just play, okay?" I said to Liam and Levi. I moved them away from the fire. They nodded.

“Butterflies. Dragonflies.” A smile spread across Levi's face as the two animals flew past him and Liam.

“Come on, let's chase them!” Liam had a great idea. They could turn anything into a game.

“Hi.” Alpha Eiden chuckled awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. I couldn’t help but smile. “Why would I say hello?” He shook his head.

“It’s okay. You’ve lightened the mood.” I nodded at him.

“Yeah, we’re a team now. We’re going to make a delicious dinner.” Alpha Eiden lit the grill and handed me a pair of tongs.

“Have you ever done this before?” I doubted he’d ever grilled meat.

“I’ve only been to BBQs,” he replied shyly.

“I’m not surprised to hear that.” I smiled faintly. “Okay. I’ll teach you how to grill meat properly. Please, pay attention to your teacher.”

Alpha Eiden chuckled. “Okay. Okay. I’ll listen to you, my teacher.”

He was learning fast. It was actually not that difficult to get perfectly cooked meat, and it just so happens that we all like that level of doneness.

“Did you have a nightmare?” I couldn’t help but feel curious.

“No.” Alpha Eiden shook his head, his eyes wide. “I just realized I didn’t have a nightmare,” he said enthusiastically.

“I often fall asleep during the day after not sleeping for two days,” he said. “I sleep for ten minutes. I wake up because of a nightmare.”

I felt sorry for him. He often chose not to sleep because he didn't want to have nightmares.

“Was it because you slept with Liam?” I just guessed. “You went two days without nightmares because of Liam.”

“I think so.” Alpha Eiden nodded with a smile. “I don’t know why, after Liam stayed over and I watched those cute videos of him as a baby, the nightmares kept me away.”

I didn't know what to say. He didn't seem to want to say what was on his mind, either, since he and Liam weren't that close yet.

"Can Levi and I stay at your mansion?" I looked into his eyes hesitantly. "We're comfortable in that little house, but I'm... worried about the animals." I didn't know if my reasoning sounded strange to him.

"I understand." Alpha Eiden nodded. "I'll prepare a room for you." He smiled. "Honestly, I feel more at ease if you stay at my mansion."

I was so relieved. We would be safe. No one would find us. I thought so.
