Chapter 82 Begin.
Chapter 82 Begin.
John’s pov.
The first thing I did was search for her.
And when I found her I wasn’t disappointed…
Her dress was black with small golden beads along the bottom half that shined brightly under the lights.
It had off the shoulder straps with lace on the ends, making it look, more elegant than bold.
There was a small slit on the right side that went almost up to her knee… making my chest tighten with want and need.
I stayed away from her for as long as I could, not wanting to ruin her moment by taking her and locking her in a room with me until my hunger was satisfied.
I knew she wanted this, she needed this…
Garrett was a piece of shit, who never cared for her in the entirety of their bond.
It ripped at me to watch her and Megan get treated that way but at the time I was just a guy who became beta here, I didn’t have a say in anything. I didn’t even realize how hard I was going to fall for her, but now we’re mates. And I’ll never let anything bad happen to them ever again.
“What are you thinking about, brother?” Karl said in my ear suddenly, making me jump as my eyes darted towards him.
“The goddess, Karl! Don’t do that. I was obviously lost in my thoughts,” I growled, not pleased with his games.
“Come on, Jonny. You know I’ve never been able to catch you off guard before so I couldn’t help myself. Now tell me, what were you thinking about?” He asked again, chuckling at me as I narrowed my eyes.
“Obviously about her, about Bella. She’s the only thing on my mind, constantly…” I mumbled, my eyes already searching for her again, “I’ve fallen for her hard.”
I clenched my fists as I stared at her, watching the way she laughed, the way she talked, the way her eyes twinkled from smiling so much.
I liked this side of her. The carefree, happy side.
Not the miserable, lonely and fearful side.
The side that did everything without taking anything back…
“You’re doing it again,” Karl laughed loudly, shoving me a little.
“Stop it!” I growled again, rolling my eyes at him, “I can’t help it. I just want to put her over my shoulder and take her to our room and stay there until I’m satisfied.”
Titan perked up at my words and growled his agreeance.
“It’s time, John,” elder Elian spoke as he walked up to me, “head to the stage, the ceremony will begin now, under the moon's brightest light.”
I nodded my head and followed behind him, my heart hammering in my chest.
I stepped up onto the stage, my head held high and my hands held tightly together behind my back. On the outside I looked calm, ready.
But on the inside? I was terrified.
Not because of her… goddess no.
Because I didn’t know if I could live up to what she deserved.
She deserved the world and more. Her and Megan.
They didn’t have a good hand handed to them. They had thing after thing thrown their way… but they always got back up.
I narrowed my eyes as I watched Bella lead Teeran away from the crowd of people she was speaking to.
She had a concerned look on her face as she listened to her speak.
It quickly morphed into a sad smile though.
She placed her hand on her arm as she talked back to her, something about the way she was looking at her made me smile to myself.
Always a great leader.
She laughed before walking back towards the people she was standing around before she had walked away with Teeran, her eyes sparkling as if she was truly having the best time.
I smirked while I watched her, waiting for her to walk up to the stage… to come beside me as we promised each other forever.
Her eyes widened as a Luna named Izzy pointed towards me, her laughter making its way to the stage as Bella’s head whipped towards me quickly.
She rushed towards the stage, her mouth dropping open in shock as her eyes met mine.
My smirk grew larger as she looked me up and down.
Swallowing the lump in her throat as she took one step at a time…
She walked towards me slowly, her hands folded in front of her.
“Bella,” I said softly, putting my hand out towards her, waiting for her to take it.
She looked at me before looking at my hand, smiling before she took it.
“John…” she mumbled, her cheeks red.
“If everyone could quiet down and take their seats, we are about to begin,” elder Elian boomed out, his voice echoing across the field, “we are gathered here today to witness the mating of alpha Bella and beta John. The goddess has blessed the two of them with each other. Second chance mates are hard to come by. They are almost never heard of because the goddess doesn’t believe in rejections. In rare cases where the first mate had passed away the mate that was left behind usually gets blessed with one… but in this case, no one’s mate had died. The goddess is here with us now, her light shining down upon us. She’s blessed this union, and you’re all here to witness it.”
He walked towards the table off to the side, grabbing a small knife and chalice, bringing it towards us.
“The two of you will spill your blood into the chalice and watch as it combines. Then you will drink a sip of it before pouring it over your wounded hands. If the goddess agrees with this mating, the blood will close your wounds and you’ll be connected. Now, I know you had wanted to mark each other in private… but we, the higher elders, believe it would be best to do it now. In front of everyone. That way nothing can come in between your union,” elder Elian spoke as he looked between us.
I felt Bella’s hand tighten around my own, my eyes looking towards her.
She looked nervous… sacred even.
“We won’t do anything you don’t want to do, okay?” I whispered beside her ear, wanting her to know I'd do anything she asked.
She nodded her head before looking back towards elder Elian.
“We would like to do it together, in the privacy of our own home. I hope you all understand,” she said confidently, her head held high as she waited for his response.
“Very well… let’s begin.”
