Chapter 76 Call.
Chapter 76 Call.
Bella’s pov.
I almost couldn’t believe John's words. He wanted to officially adopt Megan as his own child… and he’s allowed her to call him dad?
What did I ever do to deserve this man? He’s so wonderful and good.
Garrett was nothing like John.
I’m so grateful for him… I will make sure to cherish him everyday for the rest of our lives.
I watched them walk away hand in hand again. Megan rambled on about whatever it was she was talking about, and John just walked beside her, listening to every last word she was saying…
He deserved the title. He is a better father than Garrett ever was or will be.
Maybe one day… he’ll truly have a child with his own blood.
That’s the least I could do for him.
“Bella!” Brooke's voice yelled from across the field, stopping as she saw Megan.
She ran up to her, scooping her up into her arms and hugging her tightly.
Kissing her head repeatedly before she placed her back down and continued making her way towards me quickly.
“Bella! What the fuck!?” She said in shock, “you didn’t tell me you were fated to that hunk of meat! He’s fucking hot!”
I shook my head and rolled my eyes, not really liking the way she was speaking about John.
“Easy. I know he’s nice on the eyes but you don’t need to go off about it. Yes, we’re mates… that’s why I called you, because I wanted to invite you to our ceremony and see if you could watch Megan for us tomorrow night when we... you know… mark each other?” I mumbled the last part, avoiding eye contact the best I could.
I know, I'm an adult, I have a whole child.
But I still don’t like talking about these situations with anyone, not even my best friend.
She rolled her eyes and laughed loudly, drawing attention to us.
I clamped my hand over her mouth, “be quiet!”
Her laughter slowly died down and I moved my hand, glaring at her.
“I’m sorry, it’s just funny. We’re the total opposite of each other. I guess that’s why we get along so well. We balance each other. Anyways, yes I’d love to watch Megan and come to the ceremony tomorrow. You can count on me being there!” She said with a small grin, making me smile slightly back at her.
“Thank you… now let’s go to my office. I need your help calling the packs around us. We couldn’t send actual invitations out on such short notice so we’re going to call and see who can make it. I’d appreciate any help if possible. If not it’s all good, and I’ll finish the calls after you leave. John will be meeting us in my office soon as well and I think he wants me to be alone,” I said and laughed while she wiggled her eyebrows suggestively, “don’t even start right now!”
She laughed as I opened the door, gesturing for her to go inside first.
We talked about everything and anything on the way to my office.
Brooke let me know that she’s been thinking of me a lot lately and was actually on her way here when I had called.
“I was wondering how you got here so fast! I knew you must’ve either been in the area or on your way because there was no way you should’ve arrived within ten minutes when you live over an hour away,” I shook my head while laughing, opening my office door and walking inside, “please close the door behind you and take a seat wherever. I’ll grab a phone and the numbers you’ll need to call for you.”
She nodded her head while looking around, “you got rid of some things, hey?” She said curiously, making me cringe as I remembered destroying everything that reminded me of Garrett.
“Yeah. Everything that reminded me of Garrett got thrown into the trash. I couldn’t look at it anymore… it just gave me bad memories,” I said quietly, shuttering at the thoughts.
“I don’t blame you. I hated that guy so much. He never did anything for you or Megan. And he always expected so much in return… the son of a bitch. I hope he rots in hell!” She said with so much venom.
I knew she hated him. I just never listened to her.
And I should’ve.
“Anyways… let’s start with these calls and forget about that guy,” I said, trying to change the topic, not wanting to even hear his name.
“Gotcha…” she mumbled as she grabbed the phone from my hand, dialing the first number and calling.
“Fuck,” Brooke said while rubbing a hand down her face, “only two of them said they can make it on such short notice. They said they can bring ten warriors each but that’s it, because they’ve also been having attacks happening to their pack and they don’t want to leave them defenceless without their alphas there.”
I sighed while placing my hands over my face.
Muttering to myself.
“Only three of the alphas I phoned will make it. That’s legit five packs out of fifteen that’ll be there. We’re screwed,” I groaned, looking up as the office door opened, John stepping inside.
“What did I miss?” He asked, smiling over at me but stopping from the look on my face.
