Chapter five - How come?
Chapter five - How come?
[REN]
Nate dragged me into my room and made me sit down on my bed. I watched him as he kept digging through my clothing and yawned as loud as possible. Maybe he will take the hint and let me stay.
"This is mission impossible," he said and dragged my clothes out of the closet, throwing them all into one big pile.
"Maybe that's like a sign that I should stay at home," I whined.
Death glare. That's what he sent my way, to shut me up - a REAL DEATH GLARE.
I would so love to say something more, yet in moments like these, it's better to keep quiet. Nate is obsessed with fashion, makeup, and hairstyles, so he knows better.
What seems to be an eternity, turns out to be a few minutes, until he has found me the perfect outfit. He handed my undergarments and pushed me towards the bathroom.
"Take a shower, you have precisely 10 minutes, while I'm doing the same. Got it?" Nate instructed me, acting like a control freak, he does tend to be. I nodded in approval and went into the bathroom, locked the door, just in case, and stripped from my clothes.
When I left the bathroom, I felt proud of myself, as Nate wasn't here yet. Speaking of the Devil, he came in exactly a minute after I left my bathroom.
He handed me a short, blood-red dress and a pair of black heels. I did as I was told and dressed up. He pushed me down onto the chair and started working on his magic. He had a victorious smile on his lips when he finished pampering me.
I stood in front of the mirror and gasped; I don't know who this woman is, but it sure as Hell is not me. My jet black hair, styled in a beautiful, I might say, perfect curls. Black eyeliner and mascara made my green eyes pop out; my lips were coated with blood-red lipstick, matching my dress.
"Yes, I did it again," Nate squirmed.
At this moment, the realization hit me. I'm all dressed up, out of my element, about to go out — panic attack in 3.. 2.. 1.
"This is torture! I don't want to go!" I whined as I looked down at my feet.
"You'll get used to heels, chill out! Just promise you won't get into a fight today, and I'll leave wherever you'll be ready to", Nate pleaded, making sure to make those puppy dog eyes I couldn't resist.
"Fine, let's go. The sooner we get there, the sooner I'll get back home", Nate smiled and grabbed my hand, leading me out of the packhouse.
"Goodbye to my bed. I will miss you. You are my only true love", I thought to myself before sitting down into Nates's car.
"Hey, Ren. I was thinking," he nervously spoke.
"Ew, aren't you gay? I won't pretend to be your girlfriend again if that's what you're thinking about", I cut him off.
"No, I was thinking about why I haven't seen your wolf," he whispered.
"She's not dead; I haven't lost her, Beta Zane just asked me never to show her, after that attack happened," I explained myself and looked out of the window.
The car drive wasn't long, especially since my best friend kept going on about Marie being out of the town for some business and her hosting some dumb event at the end of this week. Well, I need to get some food and bring it to the cabin, later on, I'll do whatever to stay away from her or her stupid events.
As I kept thinking about the sausage rolls I have to snag from the kitchen, I didn't notice how we have arrived at the club. Ugh, I hate clubs. We stood in the line for about a minute, until the guard saw me and offered to get inside.
"Have fun, cute," he said and winked at me as we both passed him.
As soon as the door behind us slammed closed, I sighed. Not out of relief, but out of annoyance. It's not like I didn't expect this, but as soon as my eyes left Nate, he was gone. As always. After an hour or two, I shall find him drunk, flirting with some apparent straight guy. That's Nate.
I slowly made my way into the club and scanned my surroundings. All the people here were werewolves, good. What made me feel weird was the fact that there were way too many females here, oddly most of them reek of lavender, just like our packs "leader" Marie. I despise that smell of hers. I might get sick or sneak out of here. No, bad idea, Nate will get so pissed off.
I went to the bar and ordered a glass of water, as I know that I'm the one who's driving us back home, and stood there like a complete idiot, helplessly looking around.
"Hey there, hot stuff," a buff guy appeared next to me. He reeks of alcohol so bad, this time, I really might get sick.
First, I looked around to check to whom is he talking. Sadly I was the only one next to the bar, so I can't ignore him and act as if he weren't talking to me in the first place.
"Sir, could you please back off?" I asked and turned my back to him, reminding myself how I promised my best friend to keep out of trouble and don't get into a fight.
"C' mon baby, don't be like this, let's have some fun," he whined and grabbed my waist, trying to pull me closer to him.
Well, it's not like I have something to lose anymore.
Might as well go home, Nate would get someone to get him back and, if he gets drunk- he will completely forget about me.
The next happened in seconds, my instincts kicked in, I sighed, got out of creeps grip, threw few punches at his jaw, and last one straight to his nose. He then fell.
To my surprise, he even passed out.
I yelped out accidental "ooooops," walked over him, and left the club. Now, if someone noticed me, I'm in deep, deep trouble. Dad and Nate will so kill me. I promised them both not to get into trouble and what am I doing now.
Technically, I'm running away from the crime scene, so maybe they won't get to know.
While standing in front of the club, I took my phone from my jacket pocket and sent Nate text message. I can't mind-link him now; he will freak out. Later, when he checks the phone, he will understand.
I still stood next to the club and thought about asking Nate to come home with me as the guard, who stood in front of the door before, talked to someone, obviously freaking out.
"I don't know who attacked him, but I do know that Valentino is pissed off. Only crazy wolf would attack one of his pack members, but now we're talking about his Beta. Moon Goddess have mercy over that unlucky soul; he will need it," he spoke.
I laughed to myself after hearing that they suspect the attacker to be male. So that you know- it was an act of self-defense.
And then it hit me.
Valentino's Beta. I'm doomed. Holy macaroni. What have I done? Why did I do it? Wait, I know why did I, and I don't regret a thing!
And that's my cue to leave.
