Chapter thirty-three - We're going to be alright.
[AZRAEL]
Seeing her sleeping so peacefully at the back of my car made me feel proud. Not exactly sure for what. For being able to take her home? For having her beside me? Or for being so lucky, to have a woman as she, chosen to be my mate. Whatever it is, all I care about is her. All I can think about is her.
Not sure how will she feel about my little surprise, which is waiting for her when we'll arrive back to my territory. I'm incredibly excited, yet damn worried about her reaction. I've been working so hard to make this happen, what if she won't approve my effort.
This woman. She has made me feel things I've never felt before. I'm not sure will my next move will be right or wrong, although I've never doubted my decisions before she came into my life. She could easily make me the happiest man alive with just a single smile; at the same time, she could completely crush me with a glare. Who am I?
"Mate pretty," out of nowhere, my wolf spoke.
I looked at the back mirror and smiled soon after seeing her sleeping figure.
"She's not pretty," I answered calmly.
"How dare you!" he yelled at me in full rage. I have pissed him off.
"She's not pretty. She's gorgeous, unique, beautiful. All we could dream of. She's one of a kind, and she's perfection. Everything and more," a small smile crept on my lips as he approved my answer. He purred like a damn cat and crawled back to where he has come from and blocked me out.
I already warned my mother that we'd arrive at the packhouse tomorrow morning, so everyone should be ready to greet their Luna. I got lost in my thoughts, some about what has happened before, about my mistakes. But most of them hope for our future.
I completely lost track of time, to notice that I've been stared at for quite a while now.
I looked back at my now awake, mate, and smiled.
"Where are we? This isn't your packhouse," she asked, her still sounding sleepy. So damn adorable.
"Home," I said, still smiling brightly and got out of the car. My heart raced as crazy; I couldn't describe how scared I was at this point. I've been a part of so many different wars, and I've killed so many. I've seen so many deaths and so many times someone has tried to kill me. But even then, I wasn't so afraid as I was now.
I opened her door and leaned inside the car, slowly picking her up onto my arms.
"What do you mean?" she looked up at me confused, while I just proudly carried her. Moon Goddess be on my side, make her like this, at least a little. I stood in front of the door and looked down at her beautiful face one again, just before gently kissing her forehead. As the door opened, I let her down back on her feet and wrapped my arms around her waist, gently pulling her into my chest.
"Welcome home, beautiful," I whispered into her ear.
She gasped. I swear my heart skipped a beat; the silence around us was slowly suffocating me. My palms got sweaty; I couldn't take it anymore.
"You don't like it?" I sighed, obviously being a bit hurt for my mate, not liking home I've built for just a two of us.
"You old wolf, you are kidding me?" she suddenly laughed.
"What?"
"Wait, are you serious?" her face became rock-solid - no emotions at all.
"I mean, I could change a lot of things here, if you don't like it. It's our home, not mine only, you know," I nervously scratched the back of my neck.
"Oh my God!" she stood on her tiptoes and placed a rather quick kiss on my lips before clapping her hands and jumping up and down as a little child would do.
The relief I felt must have been easy to notice, because she giggled, wrapped her arms around my neck, pushing her body against mine.
"Can I look around?" she suddenly asked.
I nod in approval, in an instant, my little mate squirmed like a kid, who just have gotten his favorite snack. In a blink of an eye, she ran upstairs. I smiled at her childish behavior and went back to the car to collect her bags. Well, I might have first watched her leaving, you know the view, but it's not essential.
After getting all of her bags into our closed, I went downstairs to cook us some dinner.
I doubt that I'll ever get tired of this feeling, of this satisfaction each time I say "our."
Our home, our bedroom, our pack, our family, it took me just about an hour to make perfect dinner for Ren and I. Now it's about time to find that gorgeous woman and feed her before she gets lost here and dies from starvation.
I slowly followed her scent, to understand that she was in the room; she wasn't supposed to see. At least not now.
I knocked on the half-open door, and her head instantly turned to me, her movement was so fast, just a regular human being would hurt herself by doing something as sudden as she did.
Her eyes sparkled in joy, I could almost see the stars in them, yet her face was stained with tears.
As if it was just a primal instinct, I was next to her in second, pulling her into my lap.
"My love," I whispered into her ear.
"I just want to know..", she sobbed against my chest.
"We're going to be alright," I smiled against her neck and inhaled her scent.
She nodded her head in approval, and soon she stopped crying, getting closer to me.
"I love it, all of it, especially this room," she spoke, and the brightest smile ever formed on my lips. I couldn't find the words to describe how happy I was. The Moon Goddess blessed me.
"Let's go, I made us some dinner," I said casually and carried her downstairs. I have no idea how I managed to enjoy my life before I met her. I never actually have felt this alive, not as alive as I feel whenever she's around.
