Arthur's POV

I was in my room going through the paperwork Jeremy dropped for me to review. Even though I told him to do so, he stubbornly refused and dropped the paper before walking off, ranting about how I was neglecting my Alpha role.

The door suddenly burst open, and I let out a sigh of relief that he had changed his mind to come to solve the paperwork, but instead, Jasmine walked into the room, her eyes swollen and scarlet red, and tears were staining all over her cheeks. Her eyes glistened with tears, and I could see the drama unfolding. She began crying as soon as she saw me.

I wanted to ignore her at first, but I hated it when my woman cried, so I stood up and walked towards her.

“Jasmine, what is with the tears? Why are you crying? Who hurt you?” I tried to pull her over to me, but instead, she snatched herself away from my hold.

“Do I look like I am fine, of course I am hurt, very hurt, and you are the cause of it. You are the only reason making me cry this is so terrible.” Jasmine replied dramatically.

“Me, how am I the reason for you shedding tears? I have not done anything to hurt you, Jasmine," I said, playing ignorance, already knowing what her next words would be.

She stared at me for a while.."Don't pretend as if you don't know what you did to me," She said.

"But seriously, I don't know what I have done to you, the last time I checked...."

“Arthur!” she cried out cutting me off before I could say further, her voice trembling. “You know what you are doing but choose to pretend, but still, I will tell you what you have done. You’ve been ignoring me! It’s all because of Julianne, isn’t it?”

I frowned, not understanding why she was suddenly so emotional. The mention of Julianne brought back yesterday's event and my heart could not help but skip a beat.

“What’s going on, Jasmine? What do you want from me? Just tell me and stop this pitiful cry and neglect your story, it is annoying.” I tried to keep my voice steady, but there was a hint of annoyance in it. She makes everything look so dramatic and the fact that she was crying makes it all the more annoying.

She took a deep breath, her sobs turning into fake sniffles. “I’m… I’m pregnant, that is the reason for my being here, ” she stammered, looking straight into my eyes. "And I have this feeling you knew already but decided to ignore me and, and, and...." She paused and burst into another fit of uncontrollable tears.

I rolled my eyes to the sky, seeking strength to face this new challenge when I was supposed to be solving the paperwork and getting it back to Jeremy.

"You are not going to say anything right? I said I am pregnant, I am carrying your baby?" Jasmine's voice pierced my thoughts, and I turned my attention back to her from the ceiling I was staring at.

My heart skipped a beat at the mention of the words again but I quickly shook my head. “That can’t be true. Jasmine, you are telling a big lie; how do you know you are pregnant? Are you sure of this before coming to accuse me of knowing and neglecting you?”

“I know that is what you are going to say! I just know I am pregnant, I can feel my body change to it,” she insisted, her voice rising. “You should believe me!”

I sighed, feeling a mix of frustration and confusion. And the last thing I wanted to do was argue with someone who already walked into my office, shedding tears and lying against me for neglecting her all because of Julianne.

“Let’s go see a wolf doctor. We need to confirm this first before jubilating.”

Jasmine’s face lit up with a smile, but I was still skeptical. She seemed so happy that I had finally listened to her; she wiped off her tears and straightened her clothes.

"Shall we," she smiled, nodding at the door; I grabbed a few important things and put them in my pocket. I opened the door, and she walked out of the room; I glanced around before locking the room.

We walked to the park clinic since it is a few miles from the pack house, and I tried to push my doubts aside, hoping that the news would come true.

When we arrived, the wolf doctor was efficient. He examined Jasmine and, to my surprise, confirmed her pregnancy.

"Congratulations, Alpha Arthur, Jasmine is pregnant and carrying your baby," The wolf doctor's face lit up with a smile, and he extended his arms, which I accepted, shocked.

I felt a rush of emotions—excitement, confusion, and a hint of fear. I could not help but wonder how Jasmine became pregnant.

I couldn’t help but smile. “Really? You’re pregnant?” I leaned in and kissed her, caught up in the moment. But as I pulled back, I noticed Julianne standing in the doorway, her face pale.

My heart sank for a moment, but then I shrugged it off. I was too happy to care. Jasmine smiled back at me, and I turned my back on Julianne, focusing on Jasmine and ignoring what Julianne could be doing in the pack's clinic.

Later, Jeremy found me in the garden on my way returning to my room, and into the process of trying to think everything out. “Arthur, we need to talk about the pack. You have to prepare for your role as the leader now that you have a Luna. All the necessary stuff that had been pending since you have no Lina should resume now you have one.” Jeremy said halting on my steps.

“Luna?” I scoffed, waving my hand dismissively. “If Jasmine can give me a son, I’ll make her my Luna and strip Julianne of the title. Simple as that. And besides, the stuff can continue the pend because I have no permanent luna for now, or we can go through it until my decision is made final.”

Jeremy looked concerned. “Are you sure that’s the right choice? Julianne is your mate right from the onset, and you have made her your Luna just to be with Antonia. Are you going to trade the love you have for her because Jasmine is pregnant?”

“I don’t care about Julianne, but I care about Antonnia, but she is a fucking girl; she is a girl child, and I need a son.” I interrupted, my voice rising. “And it looks as if jasmine is the one I want now. She’s having my child and if she can bear me a son, that changes everything.”

Jeremy shook his head, disappointment etched on his face. “You’re making a big mistake, Arthur. How can you say such a thing after everything you have gone through to win both lady's hearts back, and now you want to break because of some fucking Jasmine being pregnant. Think about it.”

“I’ve made my decision, Jeremy. Just drop it. I have told you countless times to quit arguing with me about my decisions. I am the Alpha, and you are my beta; you ought to support me and not alter my words.” My tone was final, and he fell silent, the weight of my words hanging between us.

As I walked away, I bumped into Julianne. She stood there, arms crossed, a forced smile on her face. “Congratulations, Arthur. I heard the news. It is spreading round the pack like wildfire.”

I felt a mix of emotions—pride and guilt. “Thanks. I might have to call off our bond and strip you of your title as Luna, but well for now you are still the temporary Luna, if jasmine gives me a son, I have no other choice than to make her my Luna instead of you”

Her expression shifted. “So it is because of Jasmine? And her pregnancy? You want to go back on your words?” she asked, her voice cold.

I shrugged, not wanting to dive deeper into this discussion; I am just coming back from a row with Jeremy, and I am not ready to embark on another one with Julianne.

“Do as you wish, whatever pleases you and makes you feel at peace should you do. I can't be an enemy to your happiness, Alpha Arthur,” she replied, turning on her heel.

I watched her walk away, confused. Why was she angry? She never liked me anyway. Even though what we both shared was voluntary these last few days, I still don't want to believe that she is at peace with me and would give me a chance into her heart. My heart raced as I tried to understand her reaction. Was she hurt because I was moving on to Jasmine since she was carrying my baby? Or was it something else?
