Chapter 125
Chapter 125
Unknown P.O.V
The unknown vampire slipped silently into his secret hideaway, a dimly lit space where other rogue vampires occasionally gathered. Without bothering to remove his boots or acknowledge anyone, he strode directly into the living room and sank onto the battered couch, lost in his thoughts. The ache from Katherine's refusal burned within him—she had denied him any claim to his daughter, the one Maria insisted was truly his. He tried to relax, but the pain lingered, gnawing at him.
Unbeknownst to him, Katherine’s spy lurked just outside, concealed among the shadows of a nearby tree. With strict orders to follow the vampire, the spy waited patiently, hidden from sight, watching for any sign that he might emerge again.
A low voice cut through the silence. “Boss, did you find her?” The question came from a vampire lounging in the corner, eyeing the unknown vampire with barely concealed curiosity. For a moment, the tension in the room seemed to sharpen as everyone waited for his reply.
“Yes, but that witch Katherine, telling that me that Maria lie about Melody is my daughter,” he muttered, bitterness coloring his words. The room grew quiet as the others considered the possibility, uncertainty and suspicion flickering in their eyes.
“Wait, I think I thought that name before,” his men said, his brow furrowing as memories flickered behind his eyes. The others leaned in, sensing a shift in the conversation—perhaps this connection would finally lead to answers.
“Yes, she is Lord Seth’s daughter,” another vampire chimed in, voice low but certain. The claim hung in the air, adding another layer of intrigue to the already tangled conversation. Some of the rogues exchanged uneasy glances, questioning what this revelation might mean for their group moving forward.
Suddenly, the unknown vampire leaned forward, his voice tense and low. “No, Seth is not her real father, it’s that human Edward who living in the state,” he said, casting a wary glance toward the others. The revelation sent a ripple of surprise through the group, challenging everything they thought they knew about Melody’s lineage.
“What now boss?”
“Let me think, I need a smoke,”
The unknown vampire rose from the battered couch, his movements slow and deliberate, and made his way toward the back porch. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a cigarette, one of his men quickly stepping forward to light it for him. Taking a deep drag, he exhaled the smoke in a long, steady stream, letting the haze drift through the cool night air as he started to mull over his next move.
“Boss, I did some digging, Katherine has a mate and his name is Anthony Thompson, the son of King Frances and Queen Vanessa. Also, he was kidnap by Samuel and rumors circle around that Katherine kill Samuel and his mate and even their son,”
“I see,”
“Also, what I heard that Katherine took Maria witch powers and in jail far away,”
“What! That is impossible because she came to me and told me about my daughter,”
The unknown vampire finished his cigarette and flicked the butt onto the ground, crushing it beneath his boot before slipping back inside the house. Unnoticed in the shadows, Zack had listened to every word exchanged, determined to relay the revelations to Katherine once she returned from her shopping trip. Moving quietly, Zack slipped away from his vantage point and headed toward Katherine’s home, careful to ensure no one saw him leave.
Katherine P.O.V
Katherine and Grace kept shopping after enjoying a leisurely lunch and some snacks, their laughter echoing through the bustling mall. They even bought a few toys for the babies, knowing full well the nannies would have their hands full with the new additions. Eventually, realizing it was time to head home, the two women made their way back to the store where they’d stored their bags, swiping Grace’s card in the machine to unlock the security door. Gathering their purchases, they headed out into the bright afternoon, Katherine sliding on her sunglasses to keep the sun’s rays from her eyes as they stepped into the warmth of the day.
As they walked toward the car, Katherine took out her keys and unlocked the trunk, allowing them to load their shopping bags. After closing the trunk, they moved to get inside, but suddenly the same woman from earlier stepped in front of the car, blocking their way. Katherine could feel irritation rising as the woman refused to let her pass, clearly intent on causing trouble. Without hesitation, Katherine walked up to her, flashed a smile, and removed her sunglasses, revealing her striking purple eyes—cold and unwavering. The sight made the woman falter and step back, unsettled by Katherine’s icy gaze.
“Lady, I don’t know what your problem is,” Katherine said calmly, her voice low but firm, refusing to be intimidated by the woman's aggressive stance. “If you have an issue, maybe you should take it up with the store manager instead of blocking our way.”
The woman’s voice grew louder, her frustration evident as she said, “I want that sewing machine. My husband gave me some money to buy it, and when the cashier said she sold it, I knew it was you. If you don’t give it back, I will start a scene and everyone will see.”
The what the lady did, she start to scream and throw herself on the ground like a little child which Katherine don’t have time for this, she want to get home to her little ones. People start seeing the lady was making fool of herself and scream like a crazy person.
“Alright, alright I will give it to you,”
“You see was that hard,”
Suppressing a sigh, Katherine walked to the back of her car and subtly waved her hand, unlocking the trunk with a whisper of witchcraft. With a flick of her fingers, she conjured a box identical to the sewing machine’s packaging, but instead of a machine inside, it crawled with squirming bugs meant as a lesson for the troublesome woman. Katherine quickly slipped the box into a shopping bag, closed the trunk calmly, and strode over to the woman, handing her the bag with a polite, icy smile.
For a brief moment, the woman hesitated, her anger flickering into uncertainty. She glanced at Katherine, then down at the bag, and muttered, “I am sorry, I can just order me one,” her tone softer but still laced with stubborn pride. But pride quickly gave way to indignation, and she snatched the bag from Katherine’s hand with a huff.
“You see was that hard,”
“You see, you are young, you should listen to your elders,” the woman added smugly, as if lecturing Katherine for daring to stand her ground. Katherine kept her expression neutral, refusing to let the woman rattle her any further.
The lady finally got off the ground, snatched the bag, and hurried toward her car. Sensing her opportunity, Katherine slipped into her own vehicle with practiced efficiency and started the engine. She pulled away from the parking lot, but curiosity got the better of her—so she paused at the street's edge, glancing in her rearview mirror just in time to catch the woman opening the bag. Suddenly, a scream echoed through the lot as the box tumbled onto her, writhing with bugs, sending her into a frantic dance to brush them off. Satisfied, Katherine turned a corner and disappeared down the street, leaving the chaos behind.
“Daughter that is mean,”
“I know mother but she has to learn her lesson that she can’t always have her way,”
Katherine put on her sunglasses back on, Grace cellphone got a text message from Seth
“The babies are down for their nap. I hope you ladies have fun shopping,”
“Yes, we did,”
Katherine glanced over and caught her mother grinning widely at her phone, the kind of smile that made her look years younger. It was obvious her father was texting her, and Grace’s cheeks flushed with a girlish delight, as if she were a teenager with a secret crush. Katherine simply kept her eyes on the road, driving in comfortable silence, waiting for Grace to break it with whatever she wanted to say.
“Katherine, you father told me that you used work for supernatural, is that true?”
Katherine hesitated, not really wanting to talk about her past involvement with the supernatural. It had simply been a way to earn extra money on the side, helping her save up for a car and an apartment—her ticket to independence from her real father's family. She sighed softly, knowing she needed to come clean and tell her mother everything, even if it meant revealing secrets she'd kept for so long.
