Alpha Ambrose's POV
She left.
'Bro, she didn't just leave. She practically ran away,' Cyrus reminded me, and I was about to pay the bill for the food when the waiter shook his head.
"Don't. Valerie will pay the bill later. She doesn't like people paying for her stuff. It hurts her ego and judging from how she left, you aren't her friend or anything. I saw what happened. It would be better if you knew her before making a move," the waiter said to me before scoffing and leaving, and I barely controlled my anger from lashing out at him.
I swear if this waiter hadn’t been a human, I would've taught him how to talk to an Alpha.
As if her leaving wasn't enough, someone had to say these things to me. I gritted my teeth before walking to my car and starting it.
"Open the door," I heard George, and I looked at him with a sigh before unlocking it.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Nothing, just drop me off at the borders if you are going that way," George said.
"I am not. Now get lost," I said, and George raised his brows.
"Who angered you?" He asked, sitting inside the car nonetheless.
"It's nothing,"
"It can't be nothing, Ambrose. I have been your best friend since we were kids. It's not exactly hard to read your emotions when it comes to me. So? Who pissed you off?" He asked.
I looked at the restaurant one last time before I told him everything. Starting from how I was curious about Valerie and wanted to talk to her to how she left me hurriedly as I offended her something when I was just trying to be polite.
"You weren't being polite, Ambrose. You were making a move on her," George commented, and I tightened my grip on the steering wheel.
I know what I was doing, but the question was, why couldn't I control myself?
"Do you like this rogue?" His question made me pause the car with a screech. I could feel his patient gaze on me while I looked ahead.
"She makes me curious about her, George. How many times have I met her? Three? Four? Every time I meet her, I can't help myself but want to know more and spend time with her. This is not normal. I don't know what kind of magic she possesses. I just can’t stop thinking about her whenever she is in my radius," I groaned.
I can't even imagine what I would’ve done if any other rogue had left me mid-conversation as she did.
'In her defense, you weren't exactly having a conversation with her. You were flirting,' Cyrus reminded me, and I sighed.
That was out of context.
I don’t know what to think or say. Valerie was different from the other girls. The way she smiles and her eyes light up or how she becomes shy at the simplest things has me yearning for her.
"Is she your second chance mate?" George asked, and I shook my head before leaning on the steering wheel and closing my eyes.
"No. That's the main problem. Valerie isn't my second-chance mate, which means she has a mate out there. I can't do this to her or myself. I don’t even understand why I feel this when she isn’t my mate or anything," I sighed.
"Do you feel her emotions when you are close to her?" George asked, and I remembered the way her eyes widened when she bumped into me at her apartment or when she was dancing with me.
Her eyes, which become wide whenever she looks at me, or her gaze, which is always so intense as if she is trying to look into my soul through my eyes, is the most captivating thing.
Despite her rogue nature, her scent is one of the most wonderful things I have smelt.
"She doesn't want me, George. Her body language speaks words. Though she is neither afraid nor disgusted, she tries to stay clear of me. I smelt her desire for me when I pulled her close to me, but that's it. It was void of any affection," I said.
“Sometimes, great stories start with a one-night stand,” George grinned, and I shook my head.
“It’s not about a one-night stand, George,”
"And? Do you want more than that?" George's gaze at me felt intense, and I knew what he was trying to find here.
"I don't know. I am just curious about Valerie, but whenever I am around her, it feels like I can't control but flirt with her. She has these vibes that bring that side of me out. The side who just wants to have fun with her," I smiled, remembering how she was dancing in the canteen, and I had this urge to join her.
"You like her, or should I say, you are in the process of liking her. Honestly, Ambrose, I know you have a history with rogues, and they are not the best company to hang out with, I think life is too short to have regrets. Just like not all alphas are the same, all rogues are not the same either," George said.
"Are you trying to say I should go ahead and get to know more about her?" I looked at him.
"It doesn't hurt to try. Valerie is a single mother, isn't she? Get to know her and see her likes and dislikes. If you think she is worth the shot, why not? You have been waiting for a second chance mate for 6 years now. Maybe the moon goddess wants you to live a little, and that's why she sent this rogue here?" George said, and I hummed.
George was right.
If what I feel towards her is just momentary attraction, it should go away with time. There is no harm in knowing more about her.
If this attraction doesn't go away, a few nightstands with a rogue won't hurt, right? I pacified myself before narrowing my eyes when Cyrus started laughing.
'What is so funny?'
'I think you have gotten yourself into some serious mess. I am not sure if you would come out of it with just a few nightstands,' Cyrus commented, and I sighed.
Maybe he was right. Valerie doesn't feel anything for me apart from a little desire. And she might not give in easily.
"Damn! This is frustrating!" I hit my head on the honk.
"Dude, you just fell for the girl I had my eyes on, and you are saying this is frustrating?" George chuckled.
"I haven't fallen for her. If you like her, you can go ahead," I said, annoyed with the idea.
"No thanks. If that girl doesn't have an ounce of feelings for you, she won't have anything for me either," George's words made me sigh, and I started the car.
I just have the perfect plan to spend some time around her.

The next day~~~
"Woah, don't tell me you are serious about this plan> I just heard from Lucas what’s going on here," George barged into the room.
"I don't see why this is a problem. You were the one who encouraged me to do this," I shrugged as we walked outside of my house to the car.
"Yes, I said that, but you are an Alpha. You have a reputation to hold," George's words made me scowl.
Why was he making it sound like I was doing something bad?
"You are exaggerating," I started the car and drove it out of the pack boundaries with one destination in mind.
"Technically, you are not doing something bad, but this is not the way," George looked ahead before shaking his head in denial, and I nodded.
"You can't go back on your words, George. You said we have one life. And we shouldn't live with regrets," I grinned.
I honestly find it funny how I can be myself around my beta and gamma. Though I am the scariest alpha in the world, it's not like I am inhumane.
'Says the man, who single-handedly annihilated an entire group of the rogue pack in 15 minutes,' Cyrus scoffed.
'In my defense, they were proven criminals,' I sighed.
What is with my wolf always interrupting me and making me look like the bad guy? If not provoked, I bet I am the sweetest.
'Sweetest, my ass. Do you want me to remind you who ranked number one in the scariest and strongest Alpha poles? It was based on different packs and their members' opinions. People voted for you even when they didn't know you,' Cyrus said, and he was seriously annoying me now.
I parked my car in the parking lot of the destination I was aiming at before I ran my hand through my hair.
"Do I look okay?" I looked at George, who sighed.
"If I were a woman, I would give you my V Card right here," George commented even though he was pretending to be angry, and I grinned at his comment.
"That's more than enough. Now go get a life," I walked inside with George hot on my tail.
“I am not leaving anywhere. I am staying with you to ensure you don’t mess things up for yourself. I am your best wingman. Don’t look at me like that. You guys technically met because I took you to the cafe and on that hill too,” George scoffed proudly, and I rolled my eyes.
It was already time. She should be here already. I closed my eyes to locate her scent, smiling when I finally caught a whiff of it.
"Valerie, let's see how far you'll run away from me," I smiled at the thought before turning in the opposite direction and going straight to the Head's office.
"Mr. Ambrose, please be seated. We were informed about the surprise inspection. This is a little unexpected," The head immediately went into the ‘buttering’ mode, and I stared at him expressionlessly.
"Inspections are best done when they are a surprise. Don't you think so?" I raised my brow, and he bobbed his head up and down, his smile forced.
"Yes. Are you sure you want to inspect the surroundings with this role?" the head asked as if to confirm, and I hummed.
"This is the best way for a transparent inspection. It will probably be for a week. I heard you have a trip this week too. It would be a great way to see how you guys handle things," I looked at him sternly so that he knew how serious I was about this.
"Very well. We welcome you wholeheartedly," the head said, and I nodded before standing.
"My man will stay close to me. It shouldn't be a problem," I stood from the chair.
"No problem, sir. Let me show you around," The head said.
Here I come, my sunshine. I smile inwardly.
