CHAPTER 29
CHAPTER 29
When I got home that day, I couldn't help but think of Tatum. His parents were dead, just like mine. He almost had nobody. That was the reason he was a loner.
“Gosh!” I said. “You don't judge a book by its cover.”
Then my mind went down to Elias, the lone wolf. What if he felt the same way Tatum felt? What if he needed someone to talk to?
I knew that I couldn't be available for everyone in the pack, but it was necessary to be available when I was needed. This was a trigger to check on Elias.
When I got to his chamber, he was nowhere to be found. So I decided to check on him later.
I sat by the balcony, thinking and reminiscing a lot. At this point, I remembered that I was an orphan too. I missed my Daada and my mother. I wished they were still here.
A voice interrupted my thoughts. It was Kellan. “Hey, Alaya.”
“Kellan.” I turned to look at him. “What are you doing here?
He sat next to me, “I'm here to see you. I mean, we haven't spoken in days. You're my mate, Alaya.”
The sound of that irked me. Mate? I wanted to tell him to stop saying that, but it'll only hurt it. I had decided to flow with the four of them.
“Gosh! I can't believe I'm an eighteen year old college student with plenty of love interests.” I said to myself.
“Did you say something?”
“No, not at all.” I lied.
He gazed at me for a while, and I acted like I didn't notice it.
“What's the problem, Alaya? You know you can always speak to me.”
I glanced at him. I actually needed someone to talk to, but I didn't think it was the best idea to speak to any of my crush.
“Nothing, just thinking about life. There's just so much.”
Kellan held my hands in his, “you're just eighteen years old, Alaya. There's so much ahead of you, my dear. You're doing well as the Alpha of this pack, and I want you to know that I support your dreams whatsoever. I'm here for you, anytime.”
That softened my heart. Kellan wasn't that bad, he was a good guy. Maybe I liked him, but I knew he wasn't the one I wanted to have a romance with.
He was older, in his late twenties, so when he said I have a whole lot of life ahead of me, it means he knew better.
He pulled me in for a hug. I let myself melt in his arms. He hugged me so tight, I allowed the weight to drop off my shoulders. But an action alerted me, his lips were going to my neck.
I pulled back immediately, “No, Kellan.”
His eyes widened, “why? You're my mate. Can't you feel the attraction?”
“I can. But I do not want to be marked. How about Lark and the rest of them? Y'all said we will be in this together, remember?”
He took a deep breath. “Yeah, it's fine.”
I got up, “I need to see Dolphus. I'll see you soon.”
Then, I walked away, to my chamber. For some reason, tears dropped down my eyes. Everything was too much on a girl like me.
Me? I was the Alpha of the pack and I had to make sure everything in the pack was going on well. I had inner problems too, emotional problems and wounds that were still healing. I miss my parents everyday. I was still half blood no matter what. I was still a werewolf and I had to be cautious around my human friends. And then, I had four guys the moon goddess sent to me as mates.
When I got into my chamber, my knees buckled and I fell to the ground, crying uncontrollably.
“Why me? Why?” I said, as I sobbed uncontrollably.
I laid on the floor, and I didn't know when I slept off. I had only realized it was midnight when I woke up, and I heard the howls of other wolves.
It had been a while since I let my wolf out, it was crying to come out. And moreover, it was the full moon.
I got up and ran out of my chamber, I ran to the woods. I was an Alpha, and I had to learn to control my wolves during the full moon, or else I might never shift back to human.
I shifted to my wolf form and paraded the woods. I missed this, I missed hunting down preys, but then, I didn't want to always do this. I was human, I also loved the human nature that I had in me.
While I was in the woods, I saw a wolf, it was calm and probably lonely. It sat under a tree. I gazed at it for a while, wanting to ignore it but for some reason, I couldn't.
“Who is it?” I asked myself. “And why was it so lonely?”
Funny enough, I'd never seen that before. It was beautiful, and it indeed looked bigger than me.
I moved slowly and slowly towards the wolf. But before I got to it, it howled and ran away. I paused, “what would it run?”
I decided to run after it. I chased it, but I couldn't get to it. It was so fast, faster than my wolf. I tried to acknowledge its scent. Maybe I can tell who it was, or from which tribe of the pack it was from. But I couldn't.
Now, this was another problem added to my other problems.
I had to find whoever that wolf was.
I thought for a while. “Who could it have been?”
Or wait. It hit me. Could it have been the same wolf that attacked Dolphus?
I had to find it at all costs.
I searched everywhere in the woods but I didn't even see any wolf like that. I couldn't even scent it again.
"Who are you?" My wolf whispered into the unknown.
This was the point where I missed my Daada. I wished he could come her and speak to me once again.
Regardless, I was going to find that wolf and I was going to find out who hurt Dolphus.
