Best friend
POV: Elena
I hold my pillow and cry, my tears are not only for the notebook, but for Silas and his death.
I close my eyes and remember his smile, his jokes and his hugs.
I remember the day we skipped school and stayed in the park all morning, there he made his first drawing for me.
He told me while he was drawing that he knew there was something wrong with me, that he knew there were things I wasn't telling anyone.
But he also told me that he wouldn't insist and that he would always be there for me. He taught me that drawings can be a door to the soul and he showed me his.
And now everything is destroyed.
I hear the door to my room open and part of the bed sinks.
"Sorellina, calm down a little," Luca asks calmly.
I take a deep breath trying to hold back the tears, I sit up on the bed and see Vicente and Lorenzo standing in the corner.
"He's gone, he was all I had and now it's gone," I say, my voice cracking.
"Who was he?" Luca asks with a sad smile.
I look at him, trying to see any trace of deception, but all they have is concern in their eyes.
"His name was Silas, my best friend from school." I wipe away the tears that fall as I say, "He was murdered when he was sixteen." My tone changes with the last sentence and I start to cry again.
"Elena, we're so sorry," Vicente says sincerely.
"She had no right," I say, clenching my fists. "If she was upset about the incident at the door or anything else, she could have told me, but what she did was unforgivable."
My blood boils with anger.
My brothers look at each other in confusion and I realize she must have told them a completely different story.
I'm surprised when they don't say anything about it.
I look at the clock in my room and it's already nine o'clock.
"I'm late for school," I say and stand up.
They watch me get ready again and don't stop me. I need to get out of this house, I need to breathe and clear my mind.
"Are you sure you want to go?" Lorenzo asks me and I nod.
"Words Elena," Luca reminds me.
"Yeah, I've already missed enough classes starting in the middle of the semester," I say hoarsely and grab my backpack.
"I'll drive you then," Lorenzo says and follows me out of the room.
I get into a white Porsche that's parked in the driveway and it drives silently to school.
We arrive at class change and everyone looks at me as I get out of the car.
I'm about to leave when Lorenzo stops me.
"If you want to leave at any time, call me and one of us will come get you," he says, handing me my phone.
"I'm fine," I say and turn to go into the school.
Anabela and Carla grab me as soon as I enter.
"What were you doing with Lorenzo Valentini?" Carla asks me and I look at her indicating for her to simply connect the dots.
"Holy shit" she exclaims "You are Eloisa Valentini's twin sister"
She says and I nod.
Anabela has a smile on her face and this confirms to me that she already knew.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Carla asks.
"I didn't want to be associated with my brothers, I prefer anonymity" I answer with a smile that doesn't reach my eyes.
The bell rings and Carla says goodbye, heading to her own class. Anabela assesses me and then pulls me into the bathroom.
"What happened?" she asks simply and I tell her some parts of the story.
Her eyes flash with anger and she starts cursing Eloisa in Spanish, making me laugh.
"Anabela" I call seriously and she looks at me, her anger subsiding "I need help with something".
"Call me Ana," she says smiling and looks at me, waiting for my request.
"I need medicine," I ask and she stares at me for a few seconds before understanding.
"Didn't you tell your brothers what happened yesterday?" she asks me incredulously.
"Eloisa may be a bitch, but she won't know how to deal with our brothers' fury," it's an excuse, but it's also true.
"Let me see the wound," she asks and I pull the bandage so she can see it. "Elena, this is terrible, you have to go to the doctor."
She says and I lose heart.
"Going to the doctor will raise the same questions that are going through your head right now, and I don't want to answer them," I say irritably.
"I didn't say anything," she says, raising her hands, "but you have to go to the doctor," she reaffirms.
I look at her and she smiles.
We go back to class and everyone is whispering about me at school. There goes my peace.
In the cafeteria, my friends ask me why I didn't tell them that I'm a Valentini. I give the same answer I gave Carla before.
Liam blushes when he remembers what he said about me yesterday, but I reassure him and don't take away his reason for thinking that I could be like Eloisa.
The day passes quickly and when we're in the last class, I start to feel sick, my stomach hurts and I feel incredibly cold.
I get up from my chair and leave the room, holding the phone with shaking hands.
Ana follows me and catches me when I stumble.
She takes me to the nurse's office and tells the school doctor about the wound on my shoulder.
"Miss Valentini, show me the wound," the doctor asks and I pull up my shirt.
She looks at me annoyed because it would be so much easier if I just took off my coat, but I don't want her to see the rest of my body.
"This is really bad, why didn't you go to the doctor?" she asks me and I look at her with a cold look, I see her swallow hard and then go quiet.
She works on my wound, stitching it up after cleaning it and gives me two pills to take.
Minutes later, I have a clean bandage and a prescription for antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and painkillers.
When I leave the office, I see Vicente and Luca waiting with Anabela who looks out of place next to them.
"What are you doing here?" I ask confused.
"The school called, said you were feeling sick and needed a responsible," Vicente answers and approaches me.
He assesses me, looking for any visible injuries.
"I'm fine," I say irritated by his look.
I walk away from them and walk over to Ana, who watches our interaction with a raised eyebrow.
"Long story," I say as I approach. "I'm leaving with them, thank you for helping me," I hug her in gratitude.
"You should tell them, trust them," she whispers in my ear and I know she's referring to the situation with Eloisa.
"I still have a lot to learn about them before that happens," I reply in her ear and pull away from her.
She smiles in understanding and I say goodbye.
