Chapter 63
Scarlet Wolff
I was welcomed by the sweet aroma coming from the dining room as I descended the staircase.
I woke up this morning, feeling better than I was yesterday, and I quickly had my bath and got ready for school.
I spotted Lucien setting the table. He paused as soon as he noticed my presence, looking in my direction.
"Hey! Good morning." A smile flashed through his face.
"Hmm. Good morning."
"I made breakfast. Let's eat together."
He offered, and I nodded, going to join him. Yes, I wasn't happy with him, but not the food he made.
He served my food. Scrambled egg and toast bread with hot steamy milk tea.
I began eating.
I felt his gaze all over me as I ate, but I didn't spare him a glance as I took my time to eat instead.
Thankfully, he didn't say a word until I was done and stood up to leave.
"Thanks for the food." I told him, and he nodded.
"I should drop you in school-"
"You need not worry about that. I will find my way." I declined politely, and without waiting for him to say another word, I walked out of the dining room, heading out of the house.
Alexa was already waiting for me outside the gate by the time I stepped outside.
"Good morning, darling." She beamed with smiles as I approached her.
She had texted me earlier, asking to pick me up for school, and I couldn't say no since she insisted.
"Good morning." I smiled at her, hugging her briefly.
She peeped over my shoulder, then looked at me and asked. "Where is Mr. Hottie?" She batted her eyelashes.
"He's good. He's-"
"Right. There he is." Alexa rushed off inside, leaving me here.
I looked back and saw her going to Lucien, and I rolled my eyes.
I waited outside as I watched them talking about whatever, and shortly after, she came to join me. We left in her car.
"Gosh! He's so handsome. Just like my new man." She squealed excitedly as she drove down the road.
"Focus on driving, sweet. I'm not ready to die." I smirked at her, and she rolled her eyes.
"Girl, you are so fucking lucky. That man looks like he just walked out of wattpad. My God!" She squealed again, taking her hands off the steering wheel this time and covering her face.
"Fucking hell, Alexa! You are going to get us both killed!" I shrieked, and she quickly went to take over the steering wheel again.
"I'm so sorry, darling. I was so carried away that I forgot I was driving." She giggled, as if this was supposed to be funny.
"You are crazy." I shook my head, rolling my eyes at her.
"Whatever!" She chuckled.
"About yesterday..." her voice trailed off when my phone screen lit up with a text.
"Excuse me, please."
I picked up my phone and checked the text I just got from Lucien.
'I will pick you from school later. We have something to talk about'
His text sounded cold.
'Hmm. Okay'
I replied to his text bluntly, then dropped my phone and turned my attention to Alexa.
"So?"
"So, yesterday when I left the school, I dropped by a restaurant to have lunch since my parents would probably nag my appetite out of me, and this handsome man walked inside..." she paused and took a deep breath, fanning herself with one hand while controlling the steering wheel with the other.
"Babees! You needed to see this man. He is tall, sexy body. Long straight legs, and this dark aura. Damn! He is my type of man." She blushed.
"Okay... how is he your man?" My eyebrows drew apart confusingly, and she looked at me, rolling her eyes.
"Don't be a killjoy." She groaned.
"Well, I approached him, we talked, and guess what! I'm going to invite him for a lunch date." She squealed again, and I touched my temple.
"That is ridiculous, and you know that, right?"
"Yes, baby. Just root for your girl. Love can come from anywhere, and I found mine." She chuckled.
"Good luck with your new found love."
"Thank you." She bit her lip, and I combed through my hair, shaking my head. I shouldn't have allowed her to pick me up.
"So, how did your date with Derek go?"
"It was fine. I got back home pretty late." I told her, and she just nodded. She didn't seem bubbly about it like she would always be.
"You know I'm not in support of this, yeah? Why go out with Derek? You already have Mr. Hottie." She exhaled, and I rolled my eyes.
"Mr. Hottie is not my boyfriend, sweetheart. We just happened to have sex, and there's nothing serious about it." I felt a sting in my heart, and my fingers clutched my phone hard as I clenched my jaws tightly.
"Hmph! What are you? A..." she paused, then glanced at me and groaned. Never mind."
"I like you two together anyway. I mean, you and Mr. Hottie. You two look perfect together." She muttered, and I rolled my eyes.
We got to the school a few minutes later, and as I alighted from the car, I heard Derek called my name. He was also stepping out of his car at the same time.
"Good morning." He walked over to me with a smile on his face.
"Good morning." I returned his smile as he stopped in front of me.
"Hey, Alexa." He turned to Alexa and smiled at her.
"Hey, Derek." Alexa only greeted him casually, unlike before that she would be so damn happy to see him.
"I'll be in class, babes." Alexa patted my shoulder before leaving.
Derek watched her until she was out of our sight, then turned to me and asked. "Is she okay?"
"Hmm. Don't pay attention to her. She is just under the weather." I smiled at him, and he nodded.
"Let's go to class."
We left for the class together.
We were heading down the school walkway when his phone started to ring, and he paused.
"Can you go ahead, please? I will join you in class shortly." He said, and I nodded before leaving...
