Chapter 52
Scarlet Wolff

My heart pounded hard in my chest as I paced restlessly inside the room. I've been here for over two hours all alone, and there was no sign of Lucien showing up any minute.

My gaze dropped to the food on the table, and my stomach grumbled hungrily just at the sight of it. My mouth salivated, but no way I was going to eat that.

I dropped to the bed, burying my face between my palms as my mind drifted off to the thought of Lucien. Many questions lingering on my mind, but there was only one that bothered me so much. What the hell does he do?

I waited for another thirty minutes in this godforsaken room, resisting the urge to fall asleep, and finally! He showed up.

I shot to my feet once I noticed his presence. His smile welcomed me.

"Hey..." I watched as he took off his wristwatch, dropping it on the bedside table.

"Have you eate..." his voice trailed off and he raised his eyebrows when he noticed the food was untouched.

"I guess not." He muttered, but I heard him.

"Hey... you're good?" He closed the distance between us, sliding his arm around my waist, and my heart fluttered.

"Why didn't you touch your food? Are you not hungry?" He reached for my voice, tucking away the strands of hair on my forehead, and I rolled my eyes, pulling away from him.
How could he act like nothing happened? Seriously?

"Are you okay?" He leaned in for a kiss as he gently massaged my butt, but I flinched.

I yanked his hands off, throwing him a glare before hurrying into the bathroom, slamming the door close behind me.
I felt my pussy wall clenching together as a warm feeling spread through my body. Slowly, I took my hand down there to touch my pussy, and I exhaled, crashing against the wall as I was welcomed by my wetness.
Seriously? How the fuck could my body react this way to his touch when I didn't even want him.

Tears brimmed in my eyes as I stood in front of the mirror hanging on the wall of the bathroom, staring at my reflection.
Lucien was a walking red flag. One every woman should avoid getting involved with, but here I was, stuck with him.

I lifted my hands to my hair, grabbing a handful of it and pulling it slowly yet aggressively, but the pain was nothing compared to what I felt in my heart. Is it too hard to acknowledge one's fault? He left me here for three fucking hours! And he didn't feel he should talk about it?

"Scarlet!" My thoughts were disrupted by his voice and a knock on the door, but I ignored him.

"Open the door, Scarlet!" Even at this moment, his voice was still firm as if he was right about what he did.

I slumped on the ground, my back crashing against the wall as tears poured down my cheeks.

My heart tightened and I clenched my jaws tightly when I heard his receding footsteps outside. I scoffed, forcing a smile on my face. He really walked away. He never gave a damn about me.

My heart skipped minutes later when I heard keys clicking outside, and I rose to my feet.
The door opened, and Lucien walked inside.

"What is wrong with you, Scarlet?" He stood in front of me, his eyes boring into mine with an unreadable expression on his face.

"You told me you wanted to follow me here, and now you are giving me attitude after bringing you here?" He snapped at me, and I huffed.

"Why the hell are you always this dramatic, Scarlet? What is wrong with you?" He snapped again, causing me to flinch. The way he looked at me. The anger in his eyes and voice. For a moment, it felt like this wasn't Lucien. It felt like the person standing in front of me was a monster.

My heart pounded hard in my chest as I drew back, my leg shaking beneath me. My vision went blurry as tears brimmed in my eyes. I was suddenly hit with regrets. I shouldn't have insisted on coming here, but then, how would I have seen this dangerous side of him?

"I..I..." I opened my mouth to talk, but my lips only trembled and went close as tears slid down my cheeks.

It was then his face softened, and he exhaled, trying to come close to me, but I shook my head as I drew back until my back was on the wall.

"Scarlet... I'm sorry for... for scaring you. I didn't mean to." He closed the distance between us, trying to reach out to touch me, but I shook my head.

"Do...don't touch me."

"Scarlet..." I pushed him out of my way and hurried out of the bathroom, grabbing my handbag and my dress from the bed as soon as I was back inside.

"Scarlet... Scarlet..." Lucien held my hand and pulled me back as I advanced towards the door. I had no idea where I was going, but I knew that I needed to get out of here. I couldn't bring myself to spend the night here.

"Let me go!" I yelled at him, yanking his hand off and throwing him a glare.

"Listen to me, Scarlet. You can't-"

"I told you to stop fucking touching me!" I yelled at the top of my lungs, yanking his hands off when he held my hands again.

I tried reaching the door, but he got there before me. He locked the door then removed the key and held it in his palm.

"Can you calm down, Scarlet?" He tried to calm me down, but I pushed him back roughly in a way that he almost staggered back.

"Open the door, Lucien. Fucking open the door! I need to get out of here!" I cried out, hitting his chest. By now, I had dropped my bag and clothes on the floor.

"Calm down, Scarlet. Let's talk about this."

I stopped and scoffed, looking into his eyes. "Talk about this? I told you that I won't fucking take any disrespect from you one more time. I fucking told you. Open the damn door and let me get out of here!" I yelled at him again.

"Scarlet!" He snapped at me, pushing me back this time, and my jaws dropped to the ground. Is this who he really is? A monster? Did I never notice this the whole time, or did I choose to turn blind eyes to this sign?

He stared at me. No hint of remorse in his eyes.

"Get some rest. I will be back."
My heart sank into my stomach as I watched him turn his back on me and headed to the door, leaving the room once he unlocked the door.
I heard the door locked from outside, and I huffed.

My legs shook weakly, and I slumped on the bed when it could no longer carry my weight.

I sank my fingers into my hair, burying my face between my palms as tears welled up in my eyes. My goodness! How the fuck did I get here?
