I had come to terms with my situation as the alien's terrible roar became more and more audible. Their footsteps made the earth tremble and rumble even more, and I was sure that with this weak body without armour I would only last a few moments down there.
"Akh!"
I gasped, as if my body was being held down by something and I was suspended in midair. I looked out timidly and saw that there was a transparent rope like a hologram attached to my hip, the rope was connected directly to Michael's base, while below my body there were already aliens waiting down there as they opened their mouths.
My body was still dangling in the air, but from the door of the base I could see several people, including Michael, looking at me with a condescending look.
"Now you know what the best decision is, don't you? I won't give you another chance after this," Michael said.
I swallowed and closed my eyes tightly, even though I was afraid that they would treat me inappropriately, but I was still too scared to end up being destroyed in the hands of the aliens.
"Please help me..."
Before i finish my word, the rope holding my body was quickly dragging me back to the base. The people there were still looking at me the same way, but it was better than ending up miserable down there.
"Are you sure you want to come here now?" Michael asked.
I looked at Michael, this was my last chance. I nodded my head in agreement.
"You are now a member of MFH. Welcome to Mutilators For Humanity."
*****
During my time at MFH headquarters, I was taught how to use technologically advanced weapons, and was given proper clothing and food. It was much better than living with my parents. Even now, a lot of good things have happened to me while I've been at the MFH. It's a stroke of luck, it's rare to find a Mutiiner that doesn't take advantage of its members, especially its female members, from the rumours I've heard that many Mutiiner groups exploit women, because the women in Mutiiner groups also have little choice but to follow their leader's wishes.
Today I didn't have any plans to hunt and attack outside headquarters, so I and some MFH members trained inside. I was trained directly by Michael for this exercise. Every Mutiiner must have qualified physical skills to hunt and attack on the dangerous Earth. There are even some people who have mutated and have super abilities.
"You have to concentrate your energy by breathing." Michael said, patting my stomach. "You have a chance of having super powers, and if you do, you'll have a better chance of getting revenge."
"Revenge? What do you mean?" I asked as I aimed my shot at the target.
"Don't you want revenge?" Michael asked me. "Living in the midst of alien colonisation and the chaos of humanity must be based on revenge. If it were just a desire to fight for your life, you would have died decades ago."
I was stunned that behind such a calm figure like Michael there was such a deep hatred for someone. Everything Michael said is true, you have to have a grudge to live in an age like this, and stupidly I didn't even realise I had a grudge. Who else but my own family?
"I knew it," I said.
I took aim at the target in front of me and the score on the scoreboard showed a perfect score. But I need time, our main focus right now is to destroy the aliens.
For now, I don't want to tell anyone my personal things, I still can't open up to others about my feelings, ever since the betrayal I experienced, my trust vanished instantly, I'm too scared to trust again.
"Umm Alice..."
I turned my head to look at Michael, he wanted to say something but he held back. I, who had already heard it, became curious.
"Just tell me, what's wrong?" I asked. "I'll help you no matter what, you're the leader here."
Michael lifted his head and looked at me, he seemed to be thinking and then he nodded confidently.
"But I'm reluctant to tell you. Especially since you are a new member of the Mutiiner group," Michael said.
I shook my head. "There's no need to feel that way, I should be the one feeling reluctant because you've been kind enough to take me in."
After a bit of coaxing, Michael finally told me what he wanted to do.
"Well, I'm going to take you to the X-Line area," Michael said.
I frowned. I remembered that the X-Line was far away in Europe and in a country, the X-Line was deliberately named after empty areas like Norilsk, I knew a little about that place. Aliens are least likely to be detected and seen there, but because of the alien invasion the place, which was already very extreme, is now getting worse.
"X-Line? What area is that?" I asked, pretending not to know.
"X-Line are some places that are designated as safer places for humanity from alien invasion. However, there are other risks involved, such as the extreme climate, and the average age of the people who live there is also lower, even if they are not under alien invasion. But there are a lot of hidden gems there," Michael explained.
I raised my eyebrows. An interesting piece of information. Hidden gems in dangerous places must be very valuable.
"I'm planning to bring some people with me and if you're willing, I'll take you there to retrieve the remaining natural resources and hidden gems," Michael said. I hope you are willing, because MFH members who have high shooting stats are few and far between.
I hesitated, this place was very very extreme. Although I haven't used gadgets to get information about the world for a long time. But I can guess that places that used to have extreme climates will definitely be further suppressed under the current conditions of a world on the verge of collapse.
"Yes, I will." I said.
I'm only acting when my expression looks confident, I've had so many horrible things happen to me. These worries came back to haunt me when I was faced with this choice.
"That's good, then," Michael said happily. "I knew you'd agree. I mean, I knew you'd be a good person. And I wanted to tell you something else."
"Hm? What is it?" I asked curiously.
After I asked that question, Michael suddenly wrapped his arms around me and pulled my neck into his embrace. He immediately grabbed my lips and kissed them deeply.
