Chapter 37- We are One
There are times that I questioned why I ended up on the Crystal Falls that day that Isaac and the others found me, but I do not know to whom I will look for the answer that I am not yet ready to know. It's like a coincidence but not at the same time. How will my foot take me to a new world?
It's too good to be true. They say everything happens for a reason. But I'm dying to know what that reason was. Am I here because it's my destiny or someone dragged me in this situation? That's what I'll find out when I get out of this Tournament. Even if I'm not ready to know the answer, I'll face it.
"How far is it?" Cath asked. He helped Isaac to walk, and Kristian helped me.
"A few meters. I think. As long as we don't see Lydia and Kurt, we won't stop searching. No matter what happens," Isaac said. I know he's worried right now and he's having a hard time, yet he keeps his facade strong for us to be strong, too. Isaac is always like this. He wants us to be brave and rely on each other because we're a team and a family. He deserves to be a leader.
"Our time is running out and any minute, the monsters scattered here inside the Arena will attack us. We just have to find the others to get out." Cath was shaking and I noticed that she was nervous, but she was trying her best to be calm.
We stopped walking in the woods when we heard a crackle. "Fucking monsters. We have to hide," Isaac said.
We hid behind a large rock, large enough to hide our presence. But those monsters can smell our blood, so we have to move, quickly. "What's the plan now?" Cath asked while sitting on the grasses. I collapsed sitting next to her and leaned against the rock. My body is still weak, and I know they are too, but if we do not make a plan, we will die here in the Realm of Monsters.
Isaac sighed and looked at us as if he already came up with a plan. "We will move according to our position. Althea, you'll deceive the monster as a hoaxer. Be our trap and run as fast as you could. You must have all the attention of the monster for Kristian and me to move. While, Cath, on the other hand, create a dagger using your power for us, alright?" Cath and I looked at each other and nodded at the same time.
At once we were stunned when we heard the growls of monsters. It seems not just one and based on the muttering of the monster it is just close to us. We can be tracked at any time.
"Let's get this over with." Isaac turned to me and smiled bitterly. "Go out there now. Take care, Baby."
I averted my eyes and went out of our hiding place to do what Isaac had commanded me. "Hey, Monsters! I'm here!" I waved my hand in the air and they turned to me. There are four of them. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath then I started running as fast as I could just like what Isaac said. I know I'm weaker now that I've lost a lot of blood and I have a lot of wounds, but I want this to end now and get out of here.
The monsters quickly chased me, it was about to touch me when its hand burned, and it backed away. Someone pulled my arm and before I could even react, Isaac, hushed me.
"It's me. Go to Cath and help her." He ran away from me and I cried. After all of these, will I ever see you again? Can I forgive you after everything you've done?
As Isaac said, I ran back to Cath who was still where we were sitting earlier. Isaac and Kristian are fighting while Cath is making daggers using ice.
When I found her place, she was able to make a sword. "A-Althea, this is all I did." I took it and touched it. I have to help Isaac and Kristian.
"This is enough to help. Stay here, Cath." I ran toward the direction where they went. I caught up with Kristian who used the mighty force of the water to repel the monster while Isaac used fire to knock down the two monsters that were rushing at him.
I held the sword tighter. I climbed the tree near the monster that was about to run behind Isaac. With all my strength, I jumped and thrust the sword into the monster's neck, in an instant I fell with the monster and sprang to the ground.
"Althea!" I heard Isaac's voice as if he's terrified. I stretched out my hand and though I feel weak, I stood up. I have to be strong; I don't want Isaac to worry about me anymore.
"I-I'm fine." Isaac had already knocked down the monster. So is Kristian, we have defeated four monsters. I was surprised when Isaac ran between us. "Isaac--" He hugged me. It was so tight as if he didn't want to let me go.
"I was terrified of losing you. Don't ever do that again." His words and action were overwhelming. A lot of emotions flowed, and I did not know how I should feel.
"What a nice view we have here, eh?" Isaac and I turned in the left direction and we were completely stunned when we saw Cath who was held up by Amanda and Elvin.
"Andrei. Hand her over." Isaac's voice gave a shiver down my spine. He looked like someone else when he said that. His dark aura is lurking all over him. "Don't make me repeat what I've said."
"Are you threatening me?" Andrei asked. He walked closer to us. He's also wounded, but he looks like he doesn't give a damn. So are his groupmates who seem to be weakening as well.
"Are you stupid or what? I'm not threatening you. I'm ordering you; you are fucking moron." I'm not the only one who's afraid of what Isaac can do now. Even Andrei was taken aback because of Isaac's coldness.
"Sophia died, might as well kill one of yours to make a trade." Andrei put out a fire and threw it in Cath's direction but before it hit her, there's a strong impact of water came out of nowhere to stop the fire. We looked at where it came from.
It was Kurt, he's with Kristian and Lydia. "You forgot about me, Andrei? Do you think I'll let you kill my girl?"
"Now, this is interesting." Andrei laughed as he looked back and forth at us. He seemed very happy with what was happening now. What a jerk.
"Stop fighting against us," I said. "We came here to defeat monsters. Not kill each other!"
Amanda chuckled. "Says someone who killed Sophia. For a hypocrite, you're an expert." I frowned. Do they blame me for Sophia's death? So, do they want at least one of us to die? But I didn't intend for that to happen.
"We just need to steal your points--" Before Andrei could finish what he was about to say, Isaac threw fire at him and before he could move, he was punched, and he fell to the floor. It happened so fast. Isaac moved quickly and traced his anger.
"I told you. Don't make me repeat what I've said." Isaac put out a large fire and surrounded it with just the two of them so that no one can stop them. "Now, I'm fucking pissed."
Lydia approached me. "Let's save Cath. Kurt and Kristian will take down the rest." I smiled and nodded. This is it. We are one in this fight. Until the end.
