Chapter 6
Chapter 6
A slap landed across Milo’s face. sending him flying across the room.He slammed into the wall and lost consciousness immediately.
Clio was so terrified she collapsed to the floor, covering her mouth, not daring to make a sound.
Paxton seized this moment to pull out his phone and dial a number.
"Where are the Ford family's three hundred elite guards? Get to the top floor immediately!" Paxton shouted into the phone.
Static crackled on the other end, followed by an unfamiliar, cold male voice.
"Tiger Strike Squad reporting. The Ford family's three hundred men have all been eliminated."
Paxton's hand trembled, and his phone dropped to the floor.
Ironclaw stepped forward and tossed a blood-soaked bag onto the table. The bag fell open, and several heads rolled out—the heads of the Ford family's security chiefs.
"Eagle Watch Squad reporting. All routes out of San Francisco have been blocked. The Ford family's assets are being physically destroyed," Ironclaw reported loudly.
Paxton slumped into a chair, his face ashen. The Ford family empire he'd built over decades had been completely destroyed in just a few dozen minutes.
"What do you want?" Paxton's voice was hoarse.
"I told you I'd settle accounts with you."
Damien walked to the table and picked up a dinner knife.
Damien played with the knife in his hand, the blade flashing in the banquet hall's pale light. He walked to the round table and stepped on Ronnie's chest.
Ronnie spat out blood, his expression twisted in pain due to his fractured ribs.
Ronnie glared at Damien, "Do you know who I am? My grandfather is right here. My Ford family has three hundred elite guards..."
"Those three hundred are already corpses," Damien interrupted, pressing the knife against Ronnie's cheek. "Why did you touch my daughter?"
Ronnie felt the cold blade but wasn't scared.
He was used to running wild in San Francisco. Deep down, he didn't believe anyone would dare kill him on Ford family territory.
"So what if I did!" Ronnie shouted. "That little bastard has O-negative Rh blood. My younger brother has leukemia and desperately needs a bone marrow and organ transplant. She's the only match in all of San Francisco. Using her worthless life to save my brother's—that's a blessing she earned in her past life!"
Damien looked down.
Seeing Damien's silence, Ronnie thought he was scared and became even more arrogant, "As for that bitch Sophia, I was doing her a favor by wanting her. Once I'm done with her, I'll pass her to my men. I"If you get on your knees and bow to me now ,I might leave your body intact!"
Damien didn't get angry. He gripped the knife and stabbed it straight into Ronnie's right shoulder.
Ronnie let out a piercing scream.
Damien pulled out the knife and stabbed it into his left shoulder, then his left leg, then his right leg.
Ronnie's limbs were pinned to the table. He convulsed in pain, unable to even beg for mercy.
"I'll leave your face intact," Damien dropped the bloody knife, grabbed Ronnie's right arm, and twisted hard.
The crack of bone was loud and clear. Ronnie's right arm snapped.
Ronnie's eyes rolled back, and he passed out from the pain.
Sophia held Faye tightly, standing a few steps away. She watched the scene at the table without closing her eyes, feeling nothing but satisfaction. The fear she'd accumulated over five years was finally released in this moment.
Her legs gave out on her, but she struggled to steady herself while holding Faye.
Damien turned and quickly walked over, pulling mother and daughter into his arms.
“I’m sorry… I came too late,” Damien's voice was hoarse.
Sophia leaned against that broad chest, tears streaming down uncontrollably.
The memory of that night five years ago overlapped with the man before her. She thought she was strong enough, but now all her defenses crumbled.
"Why did you only come now?" Sophia pounded on Damien's shoulder. "Faye almost died!"
Damien let her hit him, his eyes full of guilt.
He'd spent five years fighting overseas, building Shadow Sect, walking the edge of death every day.
He didn't dare contact Sophia, afraid of leading enemies to them, until he completely conquered the underground dark world and became Supreme Commander. Only then did he dare return home.
Who knew that right after landing, he'd receive Faye's distress call.
"Never again. As long as I'm around, nobody's gonna mess with you."
Damien held her tight.
On the other side of the hall.
Seeing Ronnie destroyed and Paxton slumped in his chair, Milo and Clio finally faced reality—the Ford family was finished. This man who'd suddenly appeared was a ruthless killer.
Milo's eyes darted around. He grabbed Clio and they scrambled on hands and knees to Sophia.
"Sophia, my dear sister," Milo knelt down, sobbing. "Thank God you're okay. I was so scared just now!"
Clio wiped her tears too."Sophia, seeing you suffer broke Mom's heart. Thank goodness your husband came to save you."
Sophia gave them a cold look.
Damien stood up, blocking Sophia, looking down at the mother and son.
Milo swallowed and worked up the courage to say, "Damien, we're family. Before, we were forced by the Ford family. The Ford family controls everything in San Francisco. If we didn't agree to marry Sophia to them, they would've killed our whole family. We only did this to save Sophia and Faye's lives!"
Clio nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, our hearts were with you. Now that the Ford family is gone, our family can finally be together!"
A cold smirk spread across Damien's face.
"Family?" Damien snapped his fingers. "Ironclaw."
Ironclaw immediately stepped forward, pulled a stack of documents from his tactical vest, and threw them in Milo's face. The scattered papers covered the floor.
"Swiss bank transfer receipt. Three hours ago, the Ford family's financial director transferred ten million dollars to Milo's overseas account. Note: Sophia's buyout fee," Ironclaw read aloud.
Milo's crying stopped abruptly, his face instantly drained of color.
Ironclaw continued, "Also, according to the Ford family's internal communications, yesterday afternoon, Milo contacted Ronnie on his own initiative, informing him of Sophia and Faye's route to the supermarket, coordinating with Ford family guards to carry out the kidnapping. Clio was present throughout and received three million dollars."
Every word was damning.
Sophia pushed past Damien, trembling as she picked up the transfer receipt from the floor. Black and white, clear as day.
"Sophia, let me explain. I was planning to use that money to help you escape later!" Milo panicked.
"Shut up!" Sophia screamed.
She stared at Milo and Clio, her eyes inflamed.
"I always thought you were just materialistic, just greedy for money." Sophia's voice shook.
"I thought you at least still cared about family. For money, you actually sold me and Faye."
Clio stepped forward to grab Sophia's hand, "Sophia, Mom just made a mistake."
