Elliot who lingered close by rushed to Jonah. "What happened?" "Well she was about to talk about her informant. Then she passed out." Jonah replied. Sighing "It's fine. Do you remember anything else she said?" Elliot asked Jonah his hand resting on his arm.
"She said something about meeting her informant next week Wednesday." Jonah replied
"That's great. We can trail her when she gets back." Elliot says. They call over to the bellhop wearing a red uniform to take Elaine to her room. "Let's go back to the suite," Elliot suggested, his voice gentle. He sensed Jonah's unease and wanted to give him some space to process everything. "We can discuss the next steps."
Jonah nodded, his gaze lingering on the spot where Elaine had been.
He felt a knot of anxiety tightening in his stomach. He had a bad feeling about this.

Clara slipped away from the party, the noise and the forced smiles beginning to grate on her nerves. She needed a moment to herself, a moment to breathe. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number.
"Hey," she said, her voice softening as she heard her sister's voice on the other end.
"Lila," she continued, "I need to talk."
"What is it, Clara?" Lila's voice was even and calm. "Can't it wait? I'm in the middle of something." "No, it can't wait," Clara said, her tone firm but gentle. "This is important." Lila sighed softly. "Fine.
What is so important that it could not wait until morning?" Clara hesitated for a moment, unsure how much to reveal. "It is about… work," she finally said. "Something… complicated has come up."
"Complicated how?" Lila asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Let's just say… there is a situation I am trying to manage," Clara said, choosing her words carefully. She could not tell Lila the truth, not about Elliot and Jonah, not about the pictures, not about Elaine. It was too risky.
"And what does this have to do with me?" Lila asked. "I just… I needed to talk to someone," Clara said, her voice softening. "You' are the only one I can trust." Lila was silent for a moment. "Okay," she said finally. "What is going on?" Clara took a deep breath. "I need you to do some research for me," she said. "I need you to find out everything you can about a woman named Elaine Woodward."
"Elaine Woodward?" Lila asked, her voice curious. "Who is she?"
"She is… a journalist," Clara said, choosing her words carefully. "She's been… causing some problems for me." "What kind of problems?" Lila asked. "Just… work problems," Clara said, her voice evasive. "I can't talk about it over the phone." "Fine," Lila said. "I will do some digging. Anything else?" "No, that's all," Clara said. "Thank you, Lila." "Just… be careful, Clara," Lila said. "This… this whole thing sounds stressful."
"I will," Clara said. "I promise." They said their goodbyes, and Clara hung up the phone, feeling a mixture of relief and unease. She had confided in Lila, but she had also kept secrets from her. She knew that Lila wouldn't fully understand the complexities of the situation, but she hoped that her sister's help would be enough to solve her problems.
She just had to be careful. One wrong move, and everything could fall apart.

Back in their suite, Elliot paced nervously, while Jonah sat on the edge of the bed, staring out at the ocean. The silence between them was thick with unspoken anxieties. "So," Elliot finally said, breaking the quiet.
"What now?" Jonah shrugged, his gaze still fixed on the horizon. "We wait, I guess. Wait for Elaine to sober up, wait for her to return, wait for Wednesday." "And if she does not talk?" Elliot asked, his voice laced with worry.
"Then we trail her like I said," Jonah replied, his tone firm. He looked at Elliot, a flicker of determination in his eyes. "We can't give up now. We've come too far." Elliot nodded, his gaze softening as he looked at Jonah. He reached out and took Jonah's hand, squeezing it gently. "I know," he said. "We'll figure this out. Together."
Jonah squeezed Elliot’s hand back, a small smile gracing his lips. He found comfort in Elliot’s touch, in the silent promise of support and understanding. He still felt guilty about lying to Elaine, but he knew it was necessary. He had to protect Elliot, protect their relationship, protect their future.
"What about Clara?" Jonah asked, breaking the comfortable silence. "Did she say anything?"
"She just said she would be in touch," Elliot replied. "She's probably trying to figure out her own next move." Jonah nodded. He trusted Clara, but he could shake off the uneasiness he felt. He couldn't understand why Clara was being so nice.
"We should get some sleep," Elliot suggested, breaking into his thoughts. "Tomorrow's going to be a long day."
Jonah nodded in agreement. He was exhausted, both physically and emotionally. He stood up and stretched, his muscles aching from the tension of the day.
As they got ready for bed, the weight of their situation settled heavily upon them. They were in the Maldives, surrounded by luxury and beauty, but their lives felt anything but idyllic. They were caught in a web of secrets and lies, and they didn't know how to escape.
They lay in bed, the silence between them no longer comfortable, but heavy with unspoken fears. Jonah reached out and took Elliot's hand again, finding solace in the physical connection. They lay there in the darkness, two men bound together by forbidden love. The gentle sound of the waves crashing against the shore was a constant reminder of the world outside, a world that would judge them, condemn them, and try to tear them apart.
But for now, in the quiet of their hotel room, they were safe. They were together. And that was all that mattered.
The next day it seemed as if the whole of the resort had chosen the beach to come to as it was crowded.
Jonah walked through the beach with a mission to find Elaine. He catches her red hair sticking out of her sun hat.
