After the Mark

This story is a dark supernatural thriller following the life of Emmanuel Owolabi—a man trying to live a quiet, human life while hiding his true nature as a vampire. Alongside him is Oshun, his partner, who desperately clings to the idea that they can coexist peacefully with humans by suppressing their instincts. At its core, the story explores identity, restraint, and the illusion of control. Everything begins to unravel when Emmanuel encounters a mysterious man named Hakim. Charismatic, observant, and deeply unsettling, Hakim quickly reveals that he is far more than he appears. He introduces Emmanuel to a darker truth about the world—one filled with hunters, hidden forces, and ancient power. As tension builds, Emmanuel is manipulated into committing a brutal act: the murder of seemingly innocent neighbors under the false belief that they were hunters. This moment becomes the turning point of the story, shattering his fragile sense of morality and destroying his relationship with Oshun, who leaves him after witnessing what he has become. Hakim then reveals the deeper truth—he is part of an ancient group known as Hemovores, beings created through forbidden rituals involving a powerful demon named Vhalzareth. These beings are stronger than vampires, possessing abilities such as mind-reading, flight, and fire manipulation. But the true twist lies in Emmanuel himself. He is not just a vampire. He is a Dhampir—the prophesied being destined to bring an end to vampires. Now hunted by fate itself and manipulated by forces far beyond his understanding, Emmanuel stands at a crossroads: reclaim his humanity and find Oshun… or embrace the darkness and become something far more powerful—and far more dangerous.
