Chapter 282 Grand Finale (2)
Chapter 282 Grand Finale (2)
After finishing her drink, Violet rambled on for a bit before her eyes suddenly lit up. She turned to Elena. "By the way, Elena, are you seeing anyone right now?"
"Of course, I don't mean anything by it. It's just that if you are, you could bring him home so we can meet him."
After Violet said this, Nolan nodded beside her, clearly in agreement.
Aaron also set down his chopsticks and watched her quietly.
Feeling the invisible pressure from everyone, Elena didn't know what to say for a moment. She shook her head.
"No."
Who would have thought that once she said this, Violet would actually become anxious. "Don't tell me you still want to remarry Roman?"
"That Roman, he... he's not a good match."
Hearing Violet's earnest advice, Elena felt a bit helpless. She thought her parents were really overthinking things.
"Of course not. I just..."
"I want to focus on my career for now, so I haven't..."
"Focus on your career? Of course that's fine!"
Nolan immediately nodded, extremely supportive. "It's good that you're thinking this way."
"Chase Group has been branching into other industries lately. If things go smoothly, we'll eventually hand it over to you. You and your brother can manage Chase Group together, and then I'll finally be able to rest easy."
"Dad, but I'm not..."
Elena wanted to mention the studio, but Nolan cut her off.
"It won't interfere. The company and the studio have completely separate operations—it's entirely up to you."
Since he'd already said this much, Elena had no choice but to nod.
"Okay, I understand."
After dinner, Elena drove home.
She just hadn't expected that the moment she parked her car in the underground garage and opened the door, she'd hear rustling sounds coming from a corner not far away.
Hearing the noise, Elena's expression changed. She lifted her head, instantly on alert.
When she finally saw who it was in the distance, she froze.
Sebastian was leaning against a pillar with his back turned, the cigarette between his fingers flickering on and off, illuminating his sharp features.
Seeing him suddenly appear here, Elena was somewhat surprised.
"What are you doing here?"
Sebastian took one last drag of his cigarette, then threw the butt on the ground and crushed it under his foot before slowly walking over. "I've completely taken care of everything with the Blake family."
"My parents' marriage has been a disaster. They've each had families on the side for years, and now they've finally had it out."
"The entire Blake family is now completely under my control. You shouldn't have any reservations now, right?"
Hearing this sudden statement, Elena froze, seemingly understanding the real reason for his visit.
"You..."
"Elena, I was truly in the wrong before. I didn't consider your feelings and carelessly hurt you. Can you forgive me?"
Sebastian took another step forward, instantly closing the distance between them. "I admit I was jealous at the time, which is why I treated you that way. I'm truly sorry."
As he said this, Sebastian's gaze was tender and affectionate.
"Elena, I like you. I've liked you for a very long time. All these years, watching you struggle so hard. It breaks my heart. Will you give me a chance?"
At this point, if Elena still didn't understand, she'd truly be a fool.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed his right hand moving constantly in his pocket, the shape changing—it seemed to be a square box.
Realizing this, Elena's scalp immediately tingled.
"Um, I..."
"Elena, I swear I'll protect you forever, and I will never cheat on you. If that day ever comes, I'll leave with nothing and give you all my assets."
Sebastian immediately began declaring his resolve.
"So, are you willing to..."
"No. I don't have those kinds of thoughts right now."
Seeing that Sebastian was about to pull that thing out of his pocket, she immediately refused, afraid that if she waited even a second longer, it would be too late.
"Right now, all my focus is on my career. I don't want to get involved in another relationship."
"Besides, I don't have the energy to deal with all that, so you really don't need to..."
"I know that after your last relationship, you probably have your own concerns."
His confession interrupted, Sebastian looked somewhat disappointed, but he quickly collected himself and forced a strained smile. "I can wait. I'll wait until the day you truly turn around and see me."
Seeing how persistent he was, Elena was at a loss.
She could only press her lips together and let him do as he pleased.
"Fine, suit yourself."
"Anyway... it's already late, and I need to rest. You should get some rest too."
"I'm leaving now."
After dropping that line, Elena turned and quickly fled the scene.
Watching her retreating figure, Sebastian pressed his lips together, his eyes growing somewhat deeper. He pulled out the small square box.
Opening it to see the ring sparkling faintly in the darkness, a determined look flashed in his eyes.
"Elena, someday I'll put this ring on your finger."
...
Three months later, Elena's studio had climbed to the next level. Not only had business increased, but the entire studio had doubled in size. Now it actually looked like a proper operation.
Elena had just returned from negotiating a contract outside. She sat down to organize the proposal when Anna knocked and came in.
"Ms. Elena, these are the tulips Mr. Quinn sent over. Where should I put them?"
Hearing Roman's name, Elena raised an eyebrow.
She stared at the tulips for a while before pressing her lips together.
"Find that empty vase, add some water, and put them in it."
After hearing her instructions, Anna nodded, then reached out to touch the petals and grinned.
"I have to say, Mr. Blake and Mr. Quinn are quite in sync. One sends flowers today, the other sends them tomorrow."
"And if one of them sends different flowers, the other is sure to send something similar the next day."
Elena couldn't have missed the teasing in Anna's voice. She shot her a look, then pulled a file from her drawer and headed toward the conference room.
After seeing her walk past, several employees in the office area began discussing as well.
"Ever since Ms. Elena was ambushed by Jasmine, Sebastian and Roman have been competing to pick her up from work every day. Tsk, tsk, tsk. You didn't see that scene. I could feel the intense standoff in their eyes even standing far away."
"Right? One's the ex-husband, the other's the protector. Now, of course, neither is backing down."
"I just wonder who'll end up being our boss lady."
"I think it's Roman. They had a relationship before, so naturally it's different."
"I think it's Sebastian. He's liked our boss for years and has helped her countless times. His chances are better!"
"It's Roman..."
"Sebastian..."
