Chapter 277 What Exactly Is So Good About This Woman

Chapter 277 What Exactly Is So Good About This Woman

After the call was cut off, Jasmine clenched her jaw so hard it ached. A fire seemed to rage endlessly in her chest, making her eyes suddenly burn red.

"Damn it! Damn it all!"

"What the hell does Elena have that's so special?! Why does everyone feel the need to protect her?!"

She cursed through gritted teeth for a while, then took a deep breath and reluctantly dialed Emma's number.

She might not be able to do anything about Sebastian, but she could still ask Emma for help.

As long as she could win Emma's favor, there was still a chance!

With that thought, Jasmine forced down the emotions churning in her chest.

This time, the phone rang for a long while before someone picked up.

Jasmine found it a bit odd, but didn't dwell on it.

The moment the call connected, she spoke with a tearful quaver in her voice. "Emma, you have to help me. You don't know what—"

"Help you? Who's going to help me?"

Emma's cold voice cut through from the other end, stopping Jasmine dead in her tracks. The words she'd been about to unleash stuck in her throat.

"What? What's wrong? Emma, what happened?"

"You're asking me what happened?"

Emma sounded particularly angry. She let out a cold snort, her words dripping with mockery. "You should ask that wonderful brother of yours what he did!"

"It's bad enough that he humiliated himself, but now he's dragged the Blake family down with him. We're a laughingstock!"

Jasmine had no idea what had actually happened, but she could sense something was seriously wrong.

Her heart sank like a stone.

……

That evening, Elena finally wrapped up her last task and was about to shut down her computer when Aaron called.

Seeing his name, she felt a flicker of surprise.

But after a moment's thought, she pressed accept. "Hey, what's up?"

"Your receptionist's already gone home. You're still working?"

Surprised by his words, Elena walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window and looked down. Sure enough, Aaron was waiting downstairs.

He paced back and forth, looking impatient.

Elena couldn't help but roll her eyes. "What are you doing here?"

"What do you think? Coming home for dinner, obviously."

The voice on the other end replied.

Then, as if he'd just realized something, he let out a cold laugh. "Don't tell me you thought I actually wanted to see you? Mom made something good and wants you home to eat it."

Elena was long used to her brother's sharp tongue, so she didn't take it to heart. She gave a vague sound of acknowledgment.

"Got it, got it. I'll be right down."

"Hurry up. I don't want to stand here feeding mosquitoes."

With that parting shot, he hung up.

Staring at her now-dark phone screen, Elena pursed her lips but quickened her pace.

Ten minutes later, she finally came downstairs.

Seeing her figure, Aaron pulled open the passenger door, though his mouth remained as caustic as ever.

"Took you long enough. What are you, a turtle?"

Elena rolled her eyes and ignored him, climbing straight in.

Soon, the car started and smoothly merged into traffic.

Since it was rush hour, the roads were congested.

Watching the cars packed bumper to bumper ahead, Aaron couldn't help but sigh.

"With this traffic, we're going to be really late."

"Text Mom and tell her we'll be late. If she can't wait, she should eat without us."

Elena nodded and pulled out her phone. Just as she was about to message Violet, her phone vibrated and a notification popped up.

[Elena, are you off work yet? I heard that Michelin restaurant just added some new desserts. Want to go try them?]

[Desserts.]

Aaron had somehow leaned over to look. After seeing the message, he clicked his tongue. "Might as well write his intentions on a billboard."

"This guy's a little too eager, don't you think?"

Hearing Aaron's mocking tone, Elena felt helpless.

But after her finger swiped across the screen once, she cleared the message and sent one to Violet instead.

Watching her complete the entire process and then slowly set down her phone, Aaron raised an eyebrow. He glanced at her as if casually, taking in her calm expression—neither unhappy nor pleased—and couldn't help but frown.

"What are you thinking? Are you going to go?"

Elena heard his question and sighed inwardly, leaning back against the seat.

Honestly, after everything that had happened, she just felt exhausted.

She closed her eyes and shook her head. "I don't want to."

Hearing that, Aaron seemed about to say something, but after catching sight of her weary profile, he ultimately closed his mouth.

Fortunately, they didn't stay stuck there long. Soon, traffic police cleared the road.

By the time they got home, it was nearly eight o'clock.

Violet heard the door open and poked her head out from the kitchen.

Seeing them come in from outside, a faint smile appeared on her face. "You're back. Hungry? Have some fruit."

"I'll just heat up this soup and we can eat."

Elena nodded and set down her bag. Just as she was heading toward the dining table, her phone screen lit up with a system-pushed news notification appearing at the top.

#The Crawley Family's Ciaran Livestreams Party With Multiple Male Models—More Explicit Than Adult Films#

The instant Elena read that headline, her eyes flew wide open, disbelief written all over her face.

Aaron happened to be passing by. Noticing her expression, he glanced over and let out a scornful laugh.

"Serves him right."

Elena froze. Then, as if realizing something, she looked up at him with a serious expression.

"You did this?"

Seeing how quickly Elena had figured it out, Aaron wasn't surprised at all.

And he had no intention of hiding it. He nodded, perfectly straightforward.

"Yeah, I did."

"Though I have to thank Ciaran for his particular tastes. If he didn't have a thing for men, I wouldn't have been able to catch him in the act."

"With a scandal this huge breaking out, the Crawley family is completely finished."

Speaking of this, a faint sneer appeared on Aaron's face. He let out a cold laugh, clasped his hands behind his head, and walked over to the dining table. He picked up a fruit fork and speared a piece of watermelon, popping it into his mouth.

As the juice burst across his tongue, Aaron's expression improved considerably.

"Mom, this fruit is really sweet."

"Is it? Then have some more if you like it."

Violet was busy in the kitchen and replied without looking back.

Elena stood still for a moment, then, as if thinking of something, quickly walked over to Aaron.

"So the Blake family thing is actually..."

Aaron glanced at her and nodded. "Of course. Right now Sebastian's in over his head, completely stressed out about Blake Corporation."
